hey guys whats up, is there a recall on the shift problem in drive or tab man shifting for the redline for our jeeps. mine is a 06 got it in 03/06, i heard some things about the 07's not having this problem. also, some people say that theirs will auto shift from first to second. mine just redlines and cuts off. is this something they changed in the later builds?

My '07 doesn't have that problem. I noticed it though on the two '06 models I test drove. I've heard that some '07's will auto shift from 1st to 2nd in manual mode if you don't shift it quick enough. Mine does not, it'll just red line but not as quickly as the '06. I haven't heard of any fix for this problem with the '06.

I've posted the fix on at least 2 postings. PM me for what fixed my problem. Auto stick won't shift to the next gear in the SRT8 only other JGC with this feature. At least 2 people have contacted me with 07s and yes they have the same problem, shift hesitations etc. HTH Gene

Hey Gene. I think what Leo is refering to is how quickly the '06 hits the rev limit in manual shift mode coming out of 1st. Is that a separate issue from the shift hesitation problem or are they related somehow? I don't have the rev limit problem when manually shifting, just the bad hesitation when in auto.

I only have the problem when going from 30-60.....takes forever to get going.

Have not had a chance to test any of this out yet, but I read on the forums (IIRC, in a SRT chat session) that they were going to fix this in the 07's by having it upshift automatically. The issue of hitting redline was because the various hydraulics and valves that need to actuate adds delays which cannot shift the instant you tell it to.

Well, reading my 07 manual states that the unit will NOT upshift automatically, but they have added an upshift indication to the info display telling you the optimal time to upshift to prevent bouncing off the rev limiter.

sorry if this has been covered (I'm a noob!).

06s have the shift light as well, fwiw.
