: 07 vs 06 srt8
little leo 11-18-2006, 06:03 PM whats up guys, has anyone seen the 07 new red or blue jeeps? i have seen the blue steel one, think that was the name of the color at a dealer down the street from me. i have a silver 06 with everything in it. added the m/p cai and exhaust. i still think silver is the best color.(no offence to anyone with other colors) but im currious to see the new red one in person. also what is the major diff. from 06 and 07 other then the back up cam. and soft dash. in my opion it is not worth the extra money. i do wish they gave us a better trans. cause ours sucks. i traded in a 06 charger daytona yellow for my srt8 best thing i ever did. but the charger was a great car. really was fast big inside and looked hot. but the trans was more responsive in drive then our jeeps. we really need a upgrade on the software, to make it kick down better. I was told its because of our all wheeldrive and track controle with trotle delay, they all dont comunicate quick enough. its a problem srt is aware of but dont know when they are coming out with a fix

I have an 07 Steel Blue SRT. There still is no soft dash, and I do like the Back-Up Camera. There are several other small items standard of the 07 that are not on the 06.
There is no doubt that the Jeep is a beast off the line....It really pulls. However, I am not impressed when I floor it going anywhere from 30-60. To me, it is not impressive at all. Sometimes it is like it is in a higher gar and will not kick down..so I just count. While my Jeep will pull better from the dig than my E55, at any other speed there is no comparison. Had my brother drive my E55 and I drove the jeep. We did several runs.....While I really like the Jeep, I love the E55. My brother is a nutcase. When we finished one run, he called me on his cell phone and said he forgot to shift out of low. That hurt.
I am not impressed with the quality of the Jeep. Just loads of cheap plastic, and the paint..well, don't get me started on the quality of the paint jobs.
FastJeepSRT8 11-18-2006, 07:12 PM What's up Leo. I have the back up camera and I really like it. As far as the trans goes the only difference I've noted from the two '06 models I drove is that it doesn't hit the rev limit as fast in manual mode going from first to second. I have recently noticed the shift hesitation in auto that all the '06's seem to be having. Besides the dash changes I think the stainless trim is a little different as well. I think though if you put them side by side and nail the gas any differences they might have will soon fade along with the tail lights. ;)
SRT8fan2 11-18-2006, 07:18 PM I just got my '06 back from the dealer, and when I applied pressure they said they found a PCM update to fix the "won't downshift under hard acceleration" problem. They performed the flash update, and now it is much more willing to downshift. It still does not want to downshift to first gear, but it is much better, and will downshift to second, no problem. I only have a few miles on the vehicle since I picked it up today, but so far, so good.

The downshift into passing gear is annoying. What I've had to do is just tap down a couple gears and go manual. And don't feel bad my paint sucks too. I have orange peel on the top of the front bumber under the headlamp and some bad drips that were never buffed out. And if you can believe this it was delivered with a crease in the metal on the passenger door where the bend is and a small dent on the rear pasenger door. Both defects apear to be pre-paint. But with that said I still love it. All those little annoying things seem to go away every time I hit the throttle. :)
Mrdredd 11-18-2006, 08:04 PM you never had all that fixed by the dealer?
FastJeepSRT8 11-19-2006, 01:05 AM you never had all that fixed by the dealer?
I don't want to crack the factory paint. My experience tells me once you do that you're opening a whole other can of worms. So I guess I'll just have to live with it.

jms935 11-19-2006, 04:37 PM I had paint issues as well when I had it delivered. Had it repainted and at least to my eye, I can't tell.
Ink Pump 11-19-2006, 05:25 PM I have a small crack on the rear bumber - pretty shoddy for$40+
The 2007 is all I know bUt the features seem good to me. Rear camera and especially the remote start I really like. The MP3 player has saved me taking 300 CDs with me everywhere.
The gear shifting is strange but I've only got 700 miles on it so I'm still playing
Gas tank seems way too small but I guess they wanted to keep the weight down
I LOVE THE RED - MUCH FASTER THAN BLACK OR SILVER;)
shodanusmc 11-19-2006, 05:27 PM Did you have one panel repainted, or 80-100% of the vehicle. I agree, an untrained eye may not notice, but look under a florescent light. It also will effect resale value if you trade within the next few years. If you keep it longer than that, no big deal. Repaints can also look great for a year or two....and then...
