: Factory Grills Replaced...
scottiekay 11-18-2006, 01:54 PM It can be done..... I have been looking to do something about my front grills, they seemed so boring from the factory. My front bumper got smashed from a 18 wheeler tire skin on the highway. So I figured while they are putting a new bumper on I should add some new grill inserts.
Let me know what you think....
scottiekay 11-18-2006, 01:55 PM For some reason I am having a hard time uploading the pic's, can someone post there email so I can forward the pics to post here.....
Ge2.... a little assistance please..
You may need to resize the pics smaller.
El Jefe 11-18-2006, 09:36 PM email them to me. Vcjj21@aol.com
Sorry! I was away from the puter for a bit. The grills look excellent! Where did the material come from?

MatFab 11-19-2006, 01:49 PM damn looks real good... whatd u use?
scottiekay 11-19-2006, 03:03 PM all materials are from customcargrills.com I got the diamond mesh XXL grill "chrome" .. $75.00 for the 12 x 48 sheet. For the Jeep you will need 2 sheets to cover what I did. Although they have several different sheets of grill to chose from. The grill is thick. not flimsy at all. They send the grills the day after you order them.
Since my bumper was broken, I had the body shop do all the labor, they basically glued and tied them in with wire.
Thats it.. an inexpensive solution to adding some oomph... the the front end.
Greg thanks for posting the pics..
scottina06 11-20-2006, 01:47 PM do you have the old bottom grille? I need one...mine is broken from a bird.
El Jefe 11-20-2006, 02:17 PM damn that looks good! WOW!
NighT ProWLeR 11-20-2006, 04:47 PM Looks good ... I have been curious to see what people might come up with.
kramsay1234 11-22-2006, 05:48 PM My thought is that would also look outstanding on black (or silver ge2).
Nice work.

Street WK 11-28-2006, 08:39 AM To anyone who wants to do this mod or has done it, I would like to buy your stock SRT8 lower mesh insert to help recover some of your costs from buying the aftermarket grille. Thanks!
recentrisk 11-30-2006, 06:39 AM I ordered this for my silver... i think it will look great.

SI_G35Coupe 11-30-2006, 08:48 AM if anybody needs replacement mesh and wants to keep it black, 2 buddies of mine started up a website selling mesh for the various G35 bodykits. i'm sure they could whip up an SRT8 kit if we give them dimensions.
best part about their mesh is that it's black all the way thru, so even if it takes a jagged stone hit, it won't show a nasty nick in the color. they have large weave and small weave also. www.customautomesh.com

I just called Mike over at www.racemeshgrilles.com and he said the grille will be out in about 10-11 days.
Stay tuned, I just got email back from a well known company who I've used for my last two rides. I will have their materials in hand by the end of the week. :)
Str8Srt8 12-03-2006, 06:02 PM That's the chrome look I thought was missing. Nice look!
SRT8driver 12-04-2006, 09:48 PM That looks great. I wonder what it would look like if the diamond pattern was vertical inside of horizontal.
Street WK 12-25-2006, 11:09 PM I just called Mike over at www.racemeshgrilles.com and he said the grille will be out in about 10-11 days.

BuilderBill 12-26-2006, 04:36 PM Hey "stealth guys",
I took delivery last Saturday on a Black SRT8 (already have 1,200 miles in it) and am starting the stealth process also. Just had the billet side SRT8 pieces powder coated, going to the tint shop in the am, and have a question regarding the chromed plastic strips in the front and rear bumpers:
Are the chromed bumper inserts held in with adhesive as are most other exterior moldings? Do you have the part numbers for the Lorado black window trims and the rearmost window assembly?
Trying to make the decision on Ernie's tinted tail lights. I bought the kit off Ebay for the headlights, but, I am not the best at applying my own tint!
Bill
Street WK 12-26-2006, 06:10 PM BuilderBill you are not too far from me at all. In fact, my girlfriend lives a few miles outside of Charlotte in Weddington, NC.
Anyways, instead of painting I would first try this tinting taillight kit. I have the same on my Jeep and I can provide you with many pictures if you would like. The quality is second to none. (Click here for tint). (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290064739388&ru=http://motors.search.ebay.com:80/290064739388_eBay-Motors_W0QQfromZR8QQfsopZ1QQsacatZ6000QQsamcmZ6000 QQsaspiZ2_W0QQfviZ1) If you go this route tell him Nick from **************** sent you.
The Laredo conversion may not be in your best interest. To get the complete black moldings you will have to replace your rear windows with that from a Laredo AND replace your side mirrors with a Laredo.
If you have AIM hit me up sometime, NuAmericanSaint.
WJ_Jeep 12-26-2006, 06:32 PM do you have the old bottom grille? I need one...mine is broken from a bird.
Must be one hellava bird! The lower mesh grille is made of flexible plastic...
Not very flexible at all, actually. It's fairly brittle from what I can tell.
Anyhow-- the above was correct. To color match the window trim, the front and back seat window trim pops right out and can be replaced. The cargo side trim is part of the assembly, and actually is attached to the glass. So you can either re-paint it, or replace the whole window. I had all of the chrome on mine color matched to silver (with the excpetion of the front lower piece, which I did black).
SeanJohn 12-26-2006, 11:58 PM I've been watching the RaceMesh website and talking with Michael over there, and today they posted when the Jeep SRT8 model will be available.
CHECK IT OUT - they have a couple of pics up on racemeshgrilles.com home page :)

SeanJohn 01-09-2007, 01:54 AM Street..... i have email from SS this morning, and my grills will be here tomorrow. I will get around to install some time this week, then my stockers are yours :)
NE pics yet of your grills?
REDysrt8 01-09-2007, 04:01 PM I actully just finish checking out there website and they are asking way to much for that. There asking $649 plus $40 dollars in shipping and handling:eek: . i was hoping it would be around $400 and change but not that much....I could deff afford it but i deff dont think a grill would be worth that much!!!!
My SS's still aren't here :( HOpefully in the next couple of days.
As for the Race Mesh ones..... Anyone find out what the core refund is yet?

ge2 - looking forward to seeing them!
I talked to Michael at RM, he said the core refund (you send them your stock upper grille, they return it RaceMeshed) is a $195 deduct from the RaceMesh 4-piece total listed price. I called the dealership parts department, and the list price of the upper grille is $209. :)
Mat-- no, I didn't get your email. Fire it off again.
brccons 02-02-2007, 06:35 AM Okay, I got my order from customcargrills.com and had a couple of questions....
1) Is this cut for each section of the grill or install as one piece???
2) Do I install it from the front of the grill???
Thanks
Blown-WK 02-02-2007, 06:50 AM I ordered my mesh from customcargrills a while back and cut the pieces to fit behind my grill and then safety wired them in place. I think it turned out pretty good. It gives you guys an idea what it looks like against silver paint.
