: Stability control and winter

I'm curious to what degree the stability control ends any (purposeful) tail happy sliding fun in the snow. Do I understand correctly that even with TC off, the stability control is enabled? Is it a matter of holding the button down for a couple seconds or hitting it twice to defeat the stability control? I am aware that a fuse can be pulled that would also disable the ABS - is that the only way to defeat the stability control?
I enjoy a little rally-style fun in the winter on deserted private roads and am wondering if it is a going to be tough to do in the GC SRT8 :D

On the SRT8 GC, the only way to make ESP totally obsolete is to pull the fuse. 20% of ESP is still functional, even if you turn it off.

Only LX SRT8's are allowed to entirely remove ESP by holding down the button for a short period of time.

I would have to say Traction Control or not you'll be able to fishtail in snow. We just got hit with some very heavy rain for the first time since I've had my Jeep. I was all over the road if I hit it too hard. So much that I began to question whether my system was working properly. Further investigation into my owners manual provided me with the following:

ESP/TCS is active when the vehicle is started. If you hit the button it will put the system into "ESP Partial Off" mode. However the primary feature of this program, which functions much like a limited slip differential, remains active even in "Partial Off". When the system is in normal operating mode the indicator light on the dash should flash whenever traction is lost indicating that the system is being activated. If the ESP/TCS indicator light is on solid then the system as been placed into "Partial Off" mode by the driver or a condition exists that is preventing the system from functioning properly. It does mention however that in deep snow or roads covered with alot of sand or dirt that you may want to place TCS into the "Partial Off' mode to allow for more wheel spin. My problem is that when I loose traction my dash light never flashes and I discovered the vehicle handles much better on very wet roads if the system is disabled. So I may not be the best judge of how this feature will respond since I may have a problem with it. I'm taking it in to have it looked at next week. If I am working properly then I'd say you'll be having some good fun this winter. I hope this helped you out.

Hey what's the difference between an SRT8 and a LX SRT8?

LX is the platform for Magnums, Chargers, and 300C's.

Thanks for the good - and quick - info guys. It sounds like one would have to do a little "testing" to get a true feel for it, but the partial disablement option sounds better than nothing.
I imagine "they" figured an SUV with higher COG needed more electronic baby sitting.
