Had a seat pucker moment last night coming home.

I was on the way home on the highway and cam to a light that the two straight lanes were backed up for half a mile. So I took the exit to take some back roads home. There are two main roads that lead to my area. I had not been down either in years since they repaved them. I thought it would be a nice drive with some spots to open her up.

Well, the first road had gone to hell but I never got any speed cuz I was stuck behind a damn kia. But I was dodging major bad spots. Well I turn on to the second road and it looks like it is still in good shape. It goes uphill at a minor grade and then drops down into the flats. Well I had her at about 75-80 cresting the hill and without time to react I spot a major section of dips . I swear to god I got airborn but without witnesses that would be a hell of a claim.

Anyhow, if I didn't leave the ground I definately got max lift on the suspension. Then I came down hard as hell and bottomed out hit another one and bottomed out again . This all sent me damn near off the road. It was everything I could do to keep her on the road. I had the music up so I didn't notice right away that the motor had cut off. I looked down to see I had knocked her into neutral . So I coasted down the hill and into a parking lot to survey the damage. I thought I left some bumper back on the road for sure.

There were a couple teens walking out of the lot when I rolled in that were eyeballing the beast. They did a double take when I came to a stop and then fired the engine off. Well to my surprise all was well. No bent wheels,no busted front bumper and the suspension looked fine. Even drove straight as an arrow on the way home. Needless to say I kept her at the limit on the way back. I have come down hard from a dip before but this was intense. I can not believe I didn't break something. It goes to show how well these things are built.

WOW!!!! Sounds like you are pretty lucky. Did you check the front fascia for any road rash??? I always worry coming out of a parking lot, etc. I know I have scratched that thing a few times just with that alone. So far no noticeable scratches, but still pisses me off when I hear it.

Glad to hear your rig survived....not to hijack but I have a similar story....was going to pick up my dad at Laguardia airport on Monday night....cruising at about 70-75 and out of nowhere is a huge bump then a dip....I think I got a little air myself and then a LOUD bang....def. thought I scraped the bumper and bent a rim....well got to the airport and everything is ok....these rigs are tanks!!....as far as the front fascia, I have plenty of littel scrapes and one bad one on the lower right but only I can really notice it because I know its there!!

Yeah that was what I was worried about most. I looked at it when I pulled over and then did a better inspection when I got home. Damn that thing is low. There were like three one inch long scratches that must of come from something else. Probably from the dealer. It hasn't been anywhere where it could have gotten those kind of scratches in that location since we have owned it. I know it didn't come from the dukes of hazzard action because if the bumper hit it would have been pretty ugly.

I am glad you did not crash and hurt yourself first off...but I am also glad your Jeep came out unscathed!

Yeah I wasn't worried about myself. I was dreading the thought of thrashing the front end and having to paint the thing so early in it's life. That and it would always be tainted. Your talking to the guy who sold a truck I really liked cuz someone stole the tail lights...................during my wedding. I should have traded the wife too. :D
