Winter has arrived in Minnesota, and sadly, it is time to put the SRT8 GC away for a few months

Can somebody please recommend a good fuel stabilizer?

The only one I've seen/used is StaBil. I've never had any problems. I believe it's better to have a full tank also, so that there is less chance of condensation occuring.

I use Sta-bil also, put it in the cobra, boat and the jetskis and have had no problems. Been putting it in the cobra for about 8 years.

Stabil is good stuff. Use it on my Snowblower, Poswer washer, Harley, never had a problem. Does keep the fuel from turning to varnish.

Why are you storing your Jeep for the winter? It will handle most anything thrown at you....I will be driving mine this winter in Chicago

True, we already had two major snow storms, and the Jeep performed, well, like a Jeep.

I am not a veteran winter driver of Chicago roads, but my friend tells me they are well maintained, so much so that he drives his Mustang. Minnesotan roads are not always plowed immediately, and I wonder how efficiently the Jeep performs in extreme snow?

Also, I want to keep salt (they use salt like water around here, the roads turn white) off the gorgeous rims. Plus, storing the vehicle for a few months will keep the miles on the odometer low.

Actually, I am a hypocrite, because I originally bought the vehicle because it COULD drive in any weather. But, I love the Jeep so much, I do not want to punish it with Minnesota winter driving.

Thanks for the input...

Yep +1 for STAbil here too. Used it for years, and I, too like to put it in a full tank.

Welcome, ToastR! Not many people on this board are from Wisconsin, which is actually my home state. Go Pack!

Hehe, ironically I'm from MN and am a Vikes fan. I love WI tho. Sad day for me :( It looks like the Pack is on the upswing and we're on the downswing....
What part of MN do you currently hail from, if you don't mind me asking? I get over to Roch and the TC pretty regular - I'll have to keep an eye out for you - if you take the SRT out on nice days, that is ;)

Ironically, I live in Southern Minnesota, near Rochester. I frequent Rochester and TC's often, so keep an eye out for a black SRT8 driving like an !@#$%.

Do you live in a border town? Hudson? Lacrosse?

Apologies for being all off thread here..... :)
Eau Claire isn't quite a border town I guess, but only 1.5 hrs from Rochester.
And I used STAbil when I lived in Roch too :)
I'll watch for ya!

I lived in EC for four years! I bought my SRT Jeep from Chilson's!

It's my thread, so off-topic is OK ;)

I have an 03 HEMI Ram, reg. cab, short box, Sport Apperance package, factory 20's, etc, and I stored my truck every winter since new. I have stored other cars as well.
I put 1 bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner, 1 Techron injector cleaner, 2 bottles of dry gas, and Stabil in the tank, then top it off with 93. Not 1 problem. I like to use the cleaners in the fuel because the truck sits so long, less chace of any "deposits and gum ups." Run the truck for 10 mins or so, that way the treated fuel gets into the feed and return lines as well as the injector rails.

It removes H2O from fuel.

alcolhol that mixes with any water in the fuel system so the water can be burned.

That is great advice, thanks!

I use it in my daily driver as well. Since it sits outside in all of Northern MI finest winter weather, ie: snow, freezing temps, cold, sleet, rain, hail, cold, rain, snow... Everyother fill-up a bottle goes in.

Wow, you'd be the one that Chilson's was telling me they sold a black SRT8 to when I was in there asking about SRT8's the other day :) What a coincidence.
Its good to know that I'd be only one of 2 SRT's in town then.....

I highly recommend Chilson's. They understand customer service is fundamental and imperative. I will procure my next SRT8 from them.

How long does it take for fuel to breakdown?

Depending on the climate and humidty, anywhere from 4-12 weeks. Ever see what it turns to in a carb float bowl?
