: Do Something to STOP High Gas Prices!
Barney's SRT8 06-11-2008, 08:06 AM I'm sure that a lot of you already know that America has huge oil reserves that we cannot drill because of the democrats and the tree huggers. Colorado has more oil waiting to be drilled than Saudia Arabia ever had, Anwar has huge oil fields, and off the coast of Flordia there is another HUGE oil reserve that we cant tap. But 60 miles off the coast of Flordia China has teamed with Cuba and they are drilling that reserve. Explain that one.
Now Newt Gingrich has started a petition to "DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW,PAY LESS." So far 537,857 people have signed. But much more are needed. When they high milestone numbers(1 million 2 million etc.) the petition will be presented to senators and the presidental canidates. DO SOMETHING TO LOWER GAS PRICES!!!!!

skiptracer 06-11-2008, 10:09 AM I can't believe your putting blame on the Democrats, especially knowing greedy @ss Bush has let this happen. The President let oil companies do as they please and won't lift a finger to help. Mr. Bush States, Well I know it's hard for the low income people, but the stimulus relief is on it's way. The republicans is a 100% at fault, remember they're the rich ones in office for 8 consecutive years, counting the big oil checks deposited. It's sad that now everyone is blaming the democrats and now want them to clean up the republicans 'Hot mess! You think the gas is high now wait till MCcain get office for Bush 3rd term. I love the fact that now the republicans are struggling with there penny jars now. The poor has been struggling all there lives. I like to say Mr. Obama has my vote, yea babeeeeeee!

robbiesdad 06-11-2008, 01:08 PM I really don't like paying $4.20 for gas, but I do enjoy being able to buy gas. For those of a certian age, we remember the gas lines and 'No Gas' signs in the '70's. Once the government jumps in to help determine the correct market price for ANYTHING, I'm telling you we are screwed.
Drilling for oil is a great idea, the penalties for spilling it are pretty dear. Last I heard Exxon was still paying for the Valdez wreck from 20 years ago.

I think you knocked on the wrong door buddy. Why don't you pull your head out of your a$$ and get with the program.
You know who thinks Bush is to blame? Losers that blame the government for everything.
Our country has been keeping gas prices far below the pace of inflation for a long time. Sorry the CPI correction has happened in the last year, but how the hell does Bush control that?
And as far as a conspiracy by big oil, bear in mind those companies are PUBLIC. Your retirement fund and union pension fund and schoolteacher's 401K plan are the majority owners of "Big Oil". And you want to see a 15% gain every year on your 401K/pension acct/etc. So, the money managers really push the companies to deliver results i.e, turn a profit.
So if you are blaming BIG OIL for the gas prices, you are really blaming yourself.
You want lower gas prices? This will fix it:
1) Invade and nationalize the middle east. The oil will then be U.S. property. Station troops to quell the populace. Hey, sorry they are on top of OUR oil...
2) Freeze and nationalize all US bank accounts and US assets of Middle Eastern nations, where possible. We need to get some of that oil money back.
3) Tariff the piss out of imported goods and commodities. This will reduce consumption by developing nations. Smoot-Harley my ass!
There, fixed it. Also, I just fixed the pricing for steel, aluminium, and a host of other commodities.

According to him Saudi and a smattering of the remainder of the middle east are the second largest petroleum reserve in the world. The real mother load is actually located under Siberai, which has remained undeveloped becuase the Russians are unwilling to share any sizable profit with exploration and development companies. That and the fact that it lies in a barren, frozen wasteleand that is the length of the entire united states.
Colorado, the Florida continental shelf, and Alaska DO have large oil depsots, but less than a small fraction of the amount that the Saudi/Siberia do. Oil from the middle east is also already developed, shallow to drill, and CHEAP, making development of domestic supplies even more difficult to justify.
Even if we did start development of certain domestic reserves, the lag time would be several years before it would minimally impact the massive quantities of oil the US consumes.
The only way to stop high gas prices is to stop using so damn much of it. We're long overdue for a change in how we WASTE energy.
HotScott8 06-11-2008, 06:09 PM 3) Tariff the piss out of imported goods and commodities. This will reduce consumption by developing nations. Smoot-Harley my ass!
If you could find steamship lines, brokers, and trucking companies that weren't complete whores, this philosophy would work. The fact is, that it is not possible, as you can tariff the sh*t out of people, but no matter what they will find some other idiot to do it for them at a reasonable price.
If you want to know what has f*cked this country up, its simple. STUPID PEOPLE, they are the cause to all this unnecessary bullsh*t. If stupid people would have never gotten into businesses that really effect the economy we wouldn't have these problems. Its sad to say, but a lot of people that have high flying jobs in the work force just because they graduated college, should be back flipping hamburgers at McDonalds. 90% of the people that graduate from college, only graduated and completed it because they have nothing else to do, nor do they have the intelligence to do anything else. Its quite simple to sit in a classroom for 4 years, while mommy and daddy are paying for everything including your meals. College is the root of all evil...

Dude no reason to take it personally, but it is a fact. If I was jealous I would bluntly say it. But if you knew how my life was, you would have no reason to think I am jealous. My life is exactly how I want it.
If you read the post I stated it wasn't everyone, but a lot of people that have graduated from college SHOULD NOT be in the workforce they get accepted into, just because they graduated college. Its a fact and you can ask any successful business man, I promise they will tell you the exact same thing I just posted...
Muellge 06-11-2008, 06:46 PM DRILL HERE NOW, in Alaska and offshore, strip out some of the excessive taxes on our petro, and quit driving gas sucking pigs... Except for JGC SRT8s.
Then take over Venezuela and Make Chavez run one of those frigging Citgos.
Barney's SRT8 06-11-2008, 08:24 PM The reason we cant drill in these places is the fear of harming a fish or elk :boohoo:. Enviromentalist wont let us drill because we could harm nature. But let me ask, "Do you really think China cares if they spill oil into the ocean? Are they going to do anything about spills?" The answer is no. So they get to drill for this oil right outside United States coastal water but we cant? Seems pretty f***ing stupid to me.

MNBob 06-11-2008, 08:59 PM I don't mind the politics and getting a little off topic once in a while; it spices things up. This is the general discussion area.
Even though I am a democrat, I am all for increasing supply. I think it can be done in environmentally sound ways. Our newspaper here had an article on Saturday that said there is more oil in North Dakota than in all of Saudi Arabia.
And don't tell me that I am lucky to be paying only $4.10 a gallon because it is X per gallon someplace else. I don't feel that lucky when I go to the pump. Most economists say there is no real reason for prices to be this high; it is definately not supply and demand.
Krush 06-11-2008, 09:05 PM I've two major issues with your plan Barney.
1. Newt Gingrich
2. Sean Hannity
Just seeing those names makes me want to go Dem. Only the dimwits follow media whores like Hannity and Gingrich.
By the way, I do support drilling as long as it's properly regulated.......but it won't be properly regulated and we'll pay just as much for our own oil as we do for foreign oil.

I believe a college education is an absolute necessity in today's world... with 25 years management experience working with engineers, scientists, chemists, and finance and marketing professionals, most with advanced degrees... I can honestly say a retard is a retard irrespective of the level education.
I've seen natural born leaders without degrees outpace those with degrees... the key differentiators are vision, communication, organization, common sense and humility...
In large institutions this small percentage of individuals rarely emerge at the top.
mikeT 06-12-2008, 07:25 AM Bridam....I did use the proper grammar in my use of your. In my sentence "your" was being used to describe his thoughts on college. promo718 06-12-2008, 08:55 AM i hate doctors and dentists. most of them, in my experience, are money grubbing scum who don't give two sh1ts about the sick people who come to them for help - their priority is to line their pockets and bank accounts with as much money as possible, even when doing so means performing unnecessary procedures (paid for handsomely by insurance companies) not beneficial, or even harmful, to the patient.

I might agree. I went to undergrad to chase p*ssy and drink. Got out, worked for a year, said "Damn, this is hard"... back to grad school to drink beer and chase p*ssy for a few more years.

I know a lot of us own our businesses, practices, or have successful careers...so I'm shocked anyone on here would vote for a Socialist/Collectivist mentality. As a business owner and someone who has earned 100k or more since turning 21 (without completing my undergrad in Pre-med) I'm scared to death of the taxes this idiot will impose. Gas will rise to higher than you can imagine! Taxing businesses, payroll, capital gains & oil profits is going to cause a ripple effect that will even affect dumb ass democrats earning 20k or less hoping for some free meals from the government (or to live on my tax dollars). GO EARN IT! I grew up poor and turned adversity into opportunity! This moron is someone who has stated we need to keep our A/C at 80 degrees and not drive as much or drive economical vehicles. Coming from a doctor's family and growing up listening to the internal family discussions on the issue of money--it amazes me that people complain about how much doctors make. Let's see. Four years of college. Four years of medical school. Burdened with school debt, four or five years of residency making $30k to $40k. Then, medical board exams. Then the rest of your lives with the stress of people's lives in your hand every day. And, to top that off, very expensive liability insurance and medicare, medicaid, and insurance payments that may not even cover the costs of the procedures or the doctor's time.
Finally, an uninformed public that doesn't appreciate the work that's been performed--i.e., that doctor saved my life--and is focused on the fact that they may have out of pocket for a procedure. Yeah, it sucks getting hit with a $50k bill for medical costs. But it's also far more important than having a nice car.
You guys deserve everything you get and more.

FYI if you own a SRT - you're not practical, economical, or in any way on the same side of the fence as Hussein Obama. Go buy a hybrid...GOD DAMN AMERICA!

Could not have been said any better. Anyone who think's Obama's idea of change is a good one is an idiot.
AGray34 06-12-2008, 04:51 PM Well I guess the 1 good thing that will come out of an Obama presidency is he will develop a great friendship with all the arab countries, hostile or not, and in turn, hell he may even get oil from Iran !

promo718 06-12-2008, 07:19 PM Coming from a doctor's family and growing up listening to the internal family discussions on the issue of money--it amazes me that people complain about how much doctors make.
You guys deserve everything you get and more.
don't cry, most doctors in this country make more money than their services are worth.
market forces being what they are, american doctor salaries will shrink to be more in line with the salaries doctors command in the rest of the world: about the same money as journeyman plumbers make. when that happens, the profession will lose its $$$ appeal, and the only people going into it will be the ones passionate about the work: the science and art of caring for the sick and the joy of helping people who need help.

Wow. You have no idea what you're talking about. I hope you don't get sick.
promo718 06-12-2008, 07:44 PM i will point out again that i speak from experience, having lived in a large american city for 20 years. it may be different in other places, but that's how it is in new york.

Yes. Your vast experience is certainly a good indicator of where doctor pay is going.

toothmechanic 06-12-2008, 11:23 PM Wow this post was filled with dumb ass comments!
I thought most people who can afford a SRT were intelligent hard working people with pretty good incomes.
Dude...that is awesome!!! Very well said.
toothmechanic 06-12-2008, 11:42 PM i hate doctors and dentists. most of them, in my experience, are money grubbing scum who don't give two sh1ts about the sick people who come to them for help - their priority is to line their pockets and bank accounts with as much money as possible, even when doing so means performing unnecessary procedures (paid for handsomely by insurance companies) not beneficial, or even harmful, to the patient.
not all doctors are like this - but the gems are far in between and hard to come by.
i live in a big city full of immigrants, so my experience may not be yours. but it is what it is.
I agree.....I would never go to alot of dentists here in town....all they care about is $..even a few I worked for...you just gotta find the right one brotha!
btw...not all insurances pay good for procedures (especially hmo's)...alot of time the doc won't even do a necessary procedure because the pay will not cover overhead...so they send you to a specialist
You guys have no clue about what it takes to run the business that I run. Or for that matter what it took to get to where I am. Bridam got it right on what the schooling is like. I would suggest keeping your mouths shut unless you know what your talking about. Oh, by the way...I will drill a new hole in your head because I can and then charge your ins. company. Need a Borla exhaust.;)
bigb187 06-13-2008, 12:47 PM All my Dr, Attorney, Dentist, Business owners and anyone else on here with a real job and moderate income here is a bumper sticker for you...

ROFLMAO!!!!!!
barho 06-13-2008, 02:59 PM Didn't read the entire thread, so not sure if the original poster's comment about Colorado having more oil that could be "drilled" then Saudi Arabia was called out, but you are incorrect.
The western US does have more oil then all of Saudi Arabia's reserves, BUT, that oil is bound up in rock (oil shales) and it takes quite a bit of energy just to extract that oil and is environmentally unfriendly. Shell is working on a process that removes oil from oil shale at depth, which would be more friendly to the environment, and more cost effective I believe, but they are still permitting their prototype from what I understand.
