: Spare tire option in Canada

I was building an GCSRT8 on jeep.ca and noticed there is a $175.00 option (cheep!) for a full-size spare tire. Can any of our Canadian brothers shed some light on this? Where in the world would a full size spare be kept??

I tried to order it but on the order sheet from DC it states late availability so it was not available in Sept 06 yet. But the interesting news is that it is even on there and the dealer says once it is available you can order it. Where it would fit they don't know.

I'm picking up my truck this afternoon at 4pm. I ordered the full size spare so will know what it looks like / how it is mounted (or just thrown in the trunk) in a few hours.

I'd bet the spare will be sitting in the rear compartment... with a form-fitting carpet over it. There goes your rear storage space!!
I'm also curious that if your Jeep is built with the spare tire option, do you still get the run-flat tires

Cool, congrats on the new ride!! :D :D

It'd be appreciated if you could shed some light on the spare tire...after, of course, you park the beast for the night (if you can!)

Ok ... just got back home with the truck, man what a fun ride! Unfortunately no spare tire was delivered with the vehicle (grrrr). The dealer wanted to refund the $175 ... I told him to keep the $ and deliver the spare to me once the factory releases them. We'll see what happens ...

There ya go.

Sorry you didn't get the spare...I hope DC doesn't turn this into another tow hitch fiasco.

Enjoy the new ride!

Update ...

Dealer indicates that the full size spare tire option on the Canadian order sheet was a DC Canada mistake. They are pleading with me to take back the $175. I called several other dealers all of which had the same story ... it did seem to good to be true to be able to buy a $1500 wheel for $175.

Toying with the idea of playing with the dealer a bit to see what else might be on the table but not entirely sure I have the energy for it.
