: Bored again so I cracked open the headlights
A3zrider 06-07-2008, 05:56 PM Had nothing to do today and got inspired by "Delosh" so after cracking open a practice set of lights that I got on ebay I decided to go after the good ones. Sun wasn't playing along but here are a few quick pics.

None yet but we'll see. I think I might have a problem with the drivers side because I had an issue and didn't put it back together while it was still hot so the factory glue hardened up on me and made it a little more difficult to get back together. Might have to pull it off and heat it up to let the factory glue loosen up up some for it to seal properly if I get fogging. passenger side sealed nicely. Got RTV to squeez out all the way around.

Very chill bro. So you heated up the actual headlights to open them.:) Guess AAC liked the "cut & saw" technique for their horrible reinstalling of their halo headlights.:p Let us know how it turns out A3! Thanks agian bro!

JJJ93z 06-08-2008, 12:55 PM I would have used a high gloss black to match the body paint, but overall great job! I don't have the guts to take apart my projectors. Do you have any pics of them with the lights on?
A3zrider 06-08-2008, 07:03 PM Night shots. Couldn't find a good camera setting

aplatero1984 06-08-2008, 07:35 PM oooo! nice! somehow the front end looks really good without a chrome bug deflector like I have on mine:rolleyes:
A3zrider 06-23-2008, 10:30 AM Quick update. Been a few weeks with some great Florida weather (rain/humidity) and no fogging so far. So things look good with this mod.
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 06-23-2008, 10:35 AM looks good. how did you get them open?, was going to get me a junk set to test with as well, but looks like you beat me to it....please tell about the process. what temp and for how long, perhaps some pics of the top of the housing so we can see how clean it looks. am tired of having to rely on others for this, would be great if you could share the wealth...
DevssrT 06-23-2008, 11:12 AM Looka good!!.....and for there to be no fogging...def plus!
A3zrider 06-23-2008, 11:14 AM Well got the junk set to play with. I went with 260 degrees and started at 10 minutes in the oven. Started to get some of it apart but needed a few more minutes. I probably had them in for 15 minutes total. I started on the side of the light towards the grill. it seemed to be the easiest part to get started on. a few big flat head screw drivers or something similar and just start trying to seperate the two pieces. If the plastic starts to get damaged before you see it seperating throw it back in the oven for a few more minutes and keep trying. Once you get a corner up it seems like you could get the rest apart by pulling the two pieces apart but it starts to bind up. I found it best to seperate the entire housing using screw drivers. I would say it's best to get a junk one off ebay. I paid like $30 total for both. They are beat up and you wouldn't want to use them for your truck but worth the money not to F-up your good ones. It's really not that hard I bet I could get them off the car and opened up in an hour or so.
I'll get a picture with the hood up later
blackss562 06-23-2008, 11:21 AM :D looks good!!!
A3zrider 06-24-2008, 06:44 PM Here's a few with the hood up

Leegoober 06-25-2008, 07:44 PM Looks like the left headlight housing is a tad bit lighter. Or maybe its just from the light?
Oh yea Az, anyword on fogging on the inside/problems? Thanks again bro!

Matt McKenzie 06-25-2008, 07:50 PM That sh!t looks hot! If you ever come to Watertown, NY and get bored, please call me!!!!
Mango 06-26-2008, 07:09 AM This is my summer project. I'm ordering the AAC demon eye kit and doing this myself this time. I lovvvved the halos.
A3zrider 06-26-2008, 08:03 AM They are the same color just the angle of the sun for the pics. No fogging at all. Been driving in some of these nice Florida down pours the past few days and no problem.
Mango,
I think I'm gonna order a set of new lights and do the AAC kit down the road also. Where can I get the eyelid kit? I saw some on ebay but wondering if thats where you went????
blackss562 06-26-2008, 10:26 AM Where can I get the eyelid kit?
The eyelid kit doesn't look so good up close. I would try vinyl or paint for a cleaner fit and finish. just my .02
A3zrider 06-26-2008, 10:32 AM We shouldn't say eyelid kit, it's actually the halo lights that I'm talking about.
blackss562 06-26-2008, 10:37 AM OK gotcha thanks!
oman srt8 06-30-2008, 09:35 AM nice man :)
