It is indeed a sad day. I just finished a coversation with the local dodge dealer about trading my baby in on a Ram 2500 w/the Cummins. Obviously i have gas prices in mind as im considering a Greasetruck Conversion or bio-diesel. It makes me sad but gas prices are getting out of control. Its only in the begining stages but i think im going to go through with it. Any input?

Crunch the numbers on the difference in fuel prices and mpg. I bet you'd be surprised to find how little of a difference it makes in the big scheme of things.

gas prices do suck sh!t lately. 65-70 bucks every three to four days certainly adds up.

All new diesels are hard on fuel, the DPFs are killing the fuel milage. If you want a diesel thats great on fuel the newest you can go is early 2007, that was the last year the 5.9L cummins was put in a Dodge and trust me they are great on fuel 25mpg, thats what i got wth my 2005 Dodge cummins 4x4, but either way you go you will love the diesel.

Newfie.

Do you get the 2.99 dollar a gallon diesel price for three years?

The diesel will be just as bad on fuel. Have you seen the price of diesel compared to 93? Here's 93 is 4.20 and diesel is 4.89 Plus a bigger tank on the truck. You can put a tuner on it and get a little better mpg's but usually people always go for hotter and hotter programs and you'll be at 13 mpgs like my diesel. I have a pretty nice Ford and it sits in the driveway now with 2 dead batteries cause I love driving the GC. Good luck in your quest..... I'd personally go with the Chevy than the Dodge. You get a nicer interior with the Chevy's and better resale.

Harrison,
That's because of the big azz tires on that pig, LOL

The Cummins do get pretty good mileage.....keep it stock height or lower, open the intake and exhaust and change the programming and you'll get even better.

That and I'm running a hot Eric tune and sometimes a hotter DJ Looney tune. I just can't keep my foot outta my Ford. I like to scare people!!

Will your car payment be more with the Dodge?

A lot of time people focus on the mileage savings and don't think about the increased car payment that negates the savings.

Harrizon,
I hear ya it's always fun to break 38s loose and listen to the straight pipe exhaust, I don't even bother to calc. my fuel mileage most times. Not that I drive my big beast much (work too much and for short trips at night I don't feel like pulling it out of the garage).

You can get used 05-07 Cummins for a decent price depending on the area.....I've tossed around getting one to bomb the motor out :D
But I don't think I need another full size diesel and that would mean no srt.

Same thing with a lot of the hybrids (especially with tax credits slimmed down or vanished). The payoff for the hybrid option may never come during your ownership of the car.

I love to hear someone who's driving a paid off car get excited about buying a new hybrid so they will "save money".

Just got back from outta town with no CPU!!

Okay here goes.
Not sure what size bwoody i have, but i got it bout 7 months ago.

My GC is paid off so its not about what has bigger payments monthly as i inttend to trade for something a lil less valuable and get some $ back.

Im not concerened with diesel prices(although I here they get some pretty good mpg done right) as i intend to convert the truck to run on SVO.

and yes ive seen trade in values!! :( Piss a brother off!!!

How much do those vegge oil conversions run? and do you have a bio diesel station nearby in the meantime?

No Bio Diesel. I would try to make it myself but im a retard and would probably die.

The conversons run anywhere from 2500$ to 2900$

How bout somebody out there just pay for my gas for the next year, and slap on a supercharger while there at it?:)
