R1 Concepts Inc. is proud to offer Premium High Carbon Jeep rotors!
I am offering the Premium High Carbon series rotors which are made with stronger iron cast metal (G3500) for overall tension strength. The Premium High Carbon series rotors which is the top of the line series out of the two that I carry (E-lines & Premiums). The rotors are cast with a 50/50 center split for better heat distribution. Premium utilize a black Electro-coating finish applied on the hubs and inner vane structures providing long lasting corrosion protection. Original stock size, will bolt right up with no modifications needed.

What separates R1 from the rest?
Often Imitated, Never Duplicated. Here at R1, we take into account numerous precautions in machining rotors. We drill our rotors in house using state-of-the-art CNC machines and follow strict procedures and standards such as drilling between each vane structure. This will allow the rotor to retain its structural integrity and overall strength with optimum thermal transfers. We utilize smaller diameter drill bits for smaller diameter holes and each hole is counter-sink to add strength. You also have the option to go with slotted only or even a custom design with your own logo. Every R1 rotor that comes with slots will come with our exclusive "Diamond Slot design" (45 degree angle end points), to help release trapped debris. Our diamond slot design is also a good indicator for rotor wear. We also offer optional Cryo Treatment at an additional cost. (Cryogenic treatment is a process that improves the performance and life of the rotor by strengthening the metallurgy. This process will help to give an extra level of protection against warping).

Why are you choosing R1 Concepts Inc?
We’ve been in business since 2002 and have been a supporting vendor on this forum since 2007. With countless sets of rotors/ pads sold (and many other forums) and Top Notch Customer Service to back it up… Buy what's trusted.

*WARRANTY*
Here at R1 Concepts Inc, we stand by our products. We offer a one year warranty on warping and three year warranty on cracking within the minimum thickness on all R1 brake rotors due to manufacture defects and workmanship.

50mph --> moderate aggressive stops down to 10mph and let it cool off.

Do this about 10 times. Then let the pads seat themselves the forst 500 miles.

Brake shims are thin layers of rubber or metal that fit between the brake pads and the rotors to correct small imperfections that cause brake noise. On the most basic level, for many new vehicles with new brake parts, brake shims function as anti-rattle pads. They keep the pads and rotors from banging against each other or squealing.

Rob,

I just installed the Hawk HPS's on the rear. Prior to replacing the stock pads, my Jeep sounded like a CSX freight train coming. I had 10K miles on the pads and my squeal started at around 8,500, which from what I've read, is about when everyone else has trouble.

Anyway, with the new Hawk pads the squeal is 2X WORSE! Now, I only have about 40 miles on them, so maybe they are not fully bedded yet. However, like many, I'm getting tired of this and would really like a solid solution, cost notwithstanding.

Big thanks to Steven for taking care of my order, shipping was very fast and I just got them installed today ((6/25/09). I have 14,300 miles on the jeep now, let's see how long this will last me.

The quality of the R1 Premium rotors look amazing, my installer (a long time friend) was very impressed with the quality of the rotors and brake system on these jeeps.
I went with the front OEM Brembo pads and with the '06 CTS-V pads for the rear. The squeaking from the rear was driving me nuts so hopefully this combo is the fix as many has reported using the CTS-V pads.

Here's a few pictures from today's install....

These are the pads I used: Front OEM Pads and rear Akebono '06 CTS-V pads.

I had my inspection done yesterday and was told mine were worn out too. Got 3,000 miles to get replacements. 13k miles for a set of brakes. What a bunch of BS. Whatever happened to 30k pad changes (not that I'm easy on them, by any means)?

My R1 slotted and cross drilled are on there way. I run the zeckhausen pads. Don't know about performance because I don't drive to terribly hard (at least in the slow down direction) but they don't squeek and almost no brake dust.

I got 52K out of my OEM brakes. Beat that peoples!!

I am flat out LOVING my R1's now. I didn't wash it for 4 weeks after putting them on. In 4 weeks of brake dust....... it equaled 4-5 DAYS worth of stock brake dust. SHOCKING!! Thanks Steven...... couldn't have picked out a better choice!

So Steven, what would be the best pad choice? Sure as hell not paying for OEMs, so those are out. Whats a good balanced pad? Low dust, good stopping (in traffic and from speed), low noise.

Can you get us braided lines too?

Be careful with some of their outrageous drilling patterns, mainly for looks I bet. Backed up by just a 90 day warranty... if that is the route you want to take. Like I said in the previous message, there is no comparison between my Premium rotors and Trinet rotors, maybe my E-line series we can have a debate. You can give me a call at 714-777-2323 ext. 7006 we can definitely go into detail.

For best braking power I have the Hawk HPS. However, Ive been hearing that they make noise in the rears. Some of my customers been going with Hawk fronts and Posi quiet semi rear or the CTS-V oem pads.

I heard nothing but great things about the Hawk Performance Ceramics, they are low noise but are out of stock at the moment (hard to come by).

No ss lines yet, sorry.

Steven, can you comment on how many folks end up (and rationale for) getting all 4 rotors upgraded vs. just getting the front rotors? I know most of the braking force is in the front, and I'm trying to save money and get the most bang for the buck... :D

80% end up buying front and rear
20% just fronts

There is nothing wrong with buying just fronts. About 70% of the braking force is on the front rotors. Usually the fronts will warp before the rears. However the braking mechanics might change a tad bit because of different thickness and wear of new rotors vs old rotors. Keep in mind when changing just the pads for the rears. Depending on how worn your rear rotors are might shorten the life the rear brake pads due to scoring of the rear rotors. You will be saving more by going with all four. PM sent, check your message.

Well sorry for the confusion , Just checking , So the current GB Price is untouchable ?

I apologize but for now, the price stands. My R1 Premium rotors are not your typical aftermarket replacement rotors (majority of the time, equipped with silver zinc plating). I offer the Premium series rotors which are made with stronger iron cast metal for overall tension strength (cast iron grade G3500). Premium rotors are built with a 50/50 center split casting design for better overall heat distribution. The rotors are equipped with an E-coat rust protection coating on the center hub, inner vane structures, and outer rim of rotor.

is there much difference between dimpled and drilled, is one better than the other for normal city driving, I can't imagine so but i also have no idea. And what are the best pads for allot of city driving, i put about 20-25,000 on my rig a year and 95% of that is city, so as you can imagine my wheels stay clean for about a day. What do you suggest for quiet/low to no dust pads and will still have some performance for the days i beat the crap out of the truck. every once and while i will take it up through the mountain roads to carve it up with the porsche club so i need a set-up that can handle that as well.

Either drilling pattern will give you the same braking performance. Dimple will probably has a bit more strength since the rotors are not drilled all the way through. I would suggest going with Hawk Ceramic pads for lowest dust and lowest noise without sacrificing much braking power.

Unfortunately, I cannot drill that many holes on to the SRT8 rotors due to the vane structure design. I can do drilled only design but will have lesser hole rows then the one in the picture.

My brakes are really squealing and you can hear the "ee, ee, ee, ee" at around 5-10mph which draws everyone's attention. It is rather embarrassing.

I'm inspecting the brakes this weekend and may need some rotors.

I didn't take the time to go through the thread but I believe the price used to be around $500 for all 4....is that correct?

I have some dba slotted rotors on the front that the previous owner put on but I may not use those so that the rotors match all around.

Plan on going with the new stoptech pads as I have not been impressed at all with the hawk hps pads that are on the rig now. Any others you might recommend?

Thanks

Stoptech pads have very good stopping power. However, we were only able to test them out on a 350z and a Tiburon. They are bit on the dusty side. The member price for the rotors has also dropped down a bit. PM sent.

For the Jeep SRT8, it is difficult to try match or exceed the braking performance of the original Brembo pads while meeting the expectations of what most SRT8 owners would want, lower dust, and lower noise (squeal). Keep in mind, the more aggressive the pads are, the more chances of noise and dust just like the Brembo pads. The lesser the dust and noise, the lower the braking power in most cases.

I could package up a brake pad setup that would exceed the braking power of the original Brembo setup. However, probably not suitable for daily driving (dusty, noisy, a bit harsh on rotors).

Most of the pads we have listed have different characteristics depending on what customers want. All the pads listed is for daily use. However, if you are looking for a big improvement in braking power from stock (track brake pads), I can make that happen too.

Thanks

Not at all, just make sure the pads are new when installed with new rotors.

As of now, its a fight between my Hawk ceramic rears or the Stoptech Performance rear pad. I'd say the stoptechs for braking power.

So the stoptechs will provide more breaking power over the Hawks, but the hawks will be more quiet. (Speaking after 10k+ miles)

Well my customers are saying that the Stoptech are also pretty quiet. I would say that the Hawk Ceramics will be lower dust. Noise level is the same on both pads.

That is a question I cannot answer. It all depends on the driver on how long rotors will last. However, should be at least close to two years or more.

Considering that we do have a one year warranty on warping and cracking (good for one replacement). It reassures you that the rotors guaranteed to last quite some time.

Thanks
Steven

How do they perform/last when compared to OEM on corrosion?

How do they perform/last when compared to OEM on corrosion?

Hello,

On how well they perform will result from what kind of pads you plan to put on too. However, the Premium rotors are a better quality/ built rotor. The Premium series rotors made with an even stronger iron cast graded metallurgy. Premium rotors have better air flow because they are built with a 50/50 center split vane structure design (some also comes curved vane and columned) for efficient air distribution to try to eliminate heat spots.

Well the premium rotors do come with a black rust protection coating applied to the center hub, inner vane structure, and outer rim of rotor. That will hold off the rusting quite well, however no iron rotor out there is an anti rust proof.

Thanks
Steven

I understand all rotors will rust. I have Bendix pads as replacements. The reason I ask was because my OEM's rusted very bad, chunks are missing(on the actual pad contact area). I had less that 14k miles at the time, but I do live in NY & they do use salt on the roads, plus it's an '06. I ordered my R1's from you last week, so I'll be shake free soon. Thanks.

I just went to tire rack . com and went to brake pads. Typed in cts-v and they are called: Akebono euro ceramic pads. $84 + shipping.
