: Check Engine Light
Aaron 11-01-2006, 05:37 PM I got into my car the other day and turned the key to start it but didnt let it crank long enough so the engine didn't turn over. I then turned it back to off and started the car. The check engine light came on when the car turned on and I thought it might just be on for a little while, but it is still on today when I drive my car. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone knows what might be wrong and if it will go away.
Black_SRT8 11-01-2006, 06:22 PM Disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.

Or, if you don't want to disconnect your battery and reset everything in the electrical system, you can just drive the car under normal driving conditions for two or three trips so that the system can re-learn the normal conditions. Then the light should go off on it's own. (Mine took three trips of about 10 miles each to go off.) If it doesn't, you have a problem that you need to have checked out...
jlandbl 11-02-2006, 06:22 AM Check to make sure your gas cap is tight. This can trigger the check engine light and will also need a few short trips to reset the light.
Aaron 11-02-2006, 12:54 PM Yeah thanks guys, I took it out today for the third time and the light was off so no problem.
Ammarov 02-25-2011, 10:10 AM i have the same problem, after few trips it turns off by it self, but when i go again for a drag race or something, it returns on :S dealer says i have to change the crank censors but i think they're thieves hehehe, got any other solution guys ?
Marylandm3 02-25-2011, 10:13 AM Wow, this thread is over four years old.... Haha, yeah they are thieves, but might be right on this one.
Ammarov 02-25-2011, 10:24 AM i wont trust them anymore, last time i took my car from their periodic service, and there was flood water under the chairs...ARRRGGGHHH, one more thing, i have to wait for every single part for about 15 days to be imported, like they aint got a warehouse..
Marylandm3 02-25-2011, 10:29 AM ^^^ Wow man that sucks, yeah i would do it myself too.
Ammarov 02-25-2011, 10:40 AM This engine light stated to appear after i took it back from their service even :S i changed the radiator in the dealership and then that light stated to appear, they said its not covered by their service warranty :D ****ing thieves
Marylandm3 02-25-2011, 10:51 AM Oh thats awful man, some are worse than others, yours sounds real bad, lol...
Pachy 05-17-2011, 01:44 PM Mine does the same thing and i disconnect the batt and connecti ti again but it still on, a friend of mine has a predator and scanned and showed no codes, but turned the light on again, i guess i'll take it to autozone to have it scanned there...
Ammarov 05-17-2011, 03:34 PM i also cleared it with diablo trinity, but next day it turns on again, i think i have to change the censors :(
Pachy 05-19-2011, 09:26 AM i scanned mine and they told me it was the transmission control module??.. i guess i'll have to take it to the dealership...... anyone with this same problem?
