Hi every one... First off, this is a really cool place. Thanks for letting me join.
2 weeks ago I purchased a demo Black 2007 GC-SRT-8 with 8,000 miles on it. I've wanted this car ever since it 1st came out. I had a 911 C4s and so my fun car slot was filled. A month ago, I got an itch and it was time for a change. I traded the Porsche for the SRT-8. Let me say, I've never been happier.
The SRT-8 is everything you could want in one car. The power, luxury, conveniences and utility are amazing considering all this is shoe-horned into one car. I love how the manufacturer understates the performance of this car. They claim, "0-60 in under 5 seconds" and "12-15 mpg fuel enonomy". I am averaging 17 mpg during my traffic filled 32 mile trip back and forth to work everyday and the 0-60 time is more like 4.6 - 4.7. This car urinates all over my Porsche.

Because this is now my only car, I am not anticipating doing any mods for performance just yet. I bought the direct connect iPod integration kit that I will install this weekend and I will let everyone know how that works out.

One thing I can offer. My car came to me with a fair amount of cleaning sleaks on the surface of the hood. I can attest, the paint on this car is soft. I tried 3m Imperial hand glaze and that didn't remove any of the sleaks. So I bought some 3m Swirl mark remover for dark color cars. I applied it with a foam pad on my orbital polisher and now MOST of the sleaks are GONE (only 2 deep sleaks remain)! I followed it up with the Imperial hand glaze and then some P21s wax. This combination gives the best shine that this paint can muster, which is way good enough for me.

I am sorry to ramble.. Thanks again for letting me join and once again, this is a really cool place.

Sincerely, Joe D. from NJ

Hey Joe! welcome to the forum!! glad you like the Jeep! I bet you are glad to get rid of the porsche huh:p

As far as the Mopar iPod integration, the only thing that sucks about those is that everytime it wipes out the preset on your Sat radio.

I def agree with you on the paint and I have a black one. B*itch to keep clean and scratches easy but damn does it look good when it's clean!

Hey welcome. Love the comment about urinating on the Porsche. That will get you some respect here...Actually most on here appreciate all cars and its seems like you have good taste. Enjoy the beast. Black is a pain, but looks awesome. As a precaution, keep those rims clean in the winter, the salt, etc does a number on the clear. the brake dust then bites in and you will see the rims start to yellow if not careful. I actually passed another black one in Toronto today and I just about puked when I saw the rims. They weren't showing yellow tint, they looked like brass. Total lack of respect and upkeep for his beast.

I actually spent some time with Mequiars Scatch X as suggested by someone on here. Just did it by hand but it got the yellow tinge out. they need to be redone with a powerball in the next weekend or two. Once again, welcome and enjoy the truck.

Congrats and welcome...Your 1st post requires a pic.;) Your Porsche must have been an older C4s. If it was a newer C4s it would be urinating on us.:D

No prob there, I dont use the Sirius feature anyway...

Hey thanks, good tip. I've been known to wash my car at 11:00pm (after I put wife and kid to sleep) at night in the winter for that very reason. I fill up 5 buckets of hot water and do it quick. Yeah I am a little nuts...

Yeah, not too old it was an 02.

Hope to see you in NJ
Hope to see you too..

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone...
