: Black interior
Raynier 04-02-2006, 04:15 PM Like some others in this forum, I was not satisfied with the lack of interior choices for the SRT8 Jeeps. I decided to have a black suede headliner installed with all the plastic dyed black with black leather seats/suede inserts and carbon fiber accents. With all the interior changes the jeep ended up costing less than what most of the dealers in my area were asking for with their mark-ups. Hope you all enjoy the pics.

2MCHPSI 04-02-2006, 04:39 PM It's Different. Nice that you had the Dynamat done. I was wondering what a black interior would look like, and now I think I like the gray a little better. It all matters if you like it, so if you do, thats awesome!
Definitely more unique.
Raynier 04-02-2006, 06:27 PM Thanks. I am lovin it and plan to continue the upgrades. And as I like to say, different strokes for different folks. :D
goldsgym 04-02-2006, 06:58 PM Where did you get the carbon fiber??
BLKltng 04-02-2006, 09:25 PM The interior looks far better than stock. How much did it cost after all said and done? Looks awsome.
radduc 04-14-2006, 09:07 PM Did Unique auto sports do the work?If so what did they charge>That is exactly what I would like to get done.
SRTUL8ER 05-28-2006, 10:12 PM Interior looks real nice, the change isn't dramatic at all, looks almost factory.
MIDNGHT 05-29-2006, 12:45 PM So, what was the total for that? Minus the stereo stuff. Just the interior change.
MIDNGHT 06-03-2006, 12:04 PM anyone home?
scirio 06-12-2006, 12:11 PM Probably more than he'd like to admit.
Z-Love 08-13-2006, 11:08 AM Has anyone blacked out their taillights? What would you suggest? The paint or tint?
candyman 08-13-2006, 02:16 PM Click the "Search this forum" box and type in "tinted tails".
Z-Love 08-13-2006, 03:20 PM That black interior does look pretty sick...
Black_SRT8 08-13-2006, 07:08 PM I wish Jeep offered black interior for this vehicle :(
ulikeit 02-07-2007, 07:22 PM I like some things but not all and I def give props for doing it. I wonder how he died the pieces, from the pics it looks like he used vinyl spray paint- kinda blotchy but could just be the pics. I am not a big fan of fake carbon fiber mind you he pick good pieces to do and it is not overdone but I don't like the fake print style carbon fiber. Everything else looks awesome I def hope the 08's come with a darker charcoal to near black as that is my preference. Props for doing it it is def original and an awesome SRT.
squigmang 02-07-2007, 07:40 PM good job i love the black int, i wish it was an option
I still love that thing. I'm leaving the dash *mostly* as is, but I see black headliner and pillars in the very near future ;)
OurZoo 02-07-2007, 10:21 PM I give him props for doing something different. That's just not the way I would do it if I was gonna put that $$$ into the GC.
zacincceo 02-08-2007, 12:56 AM id love to know more about the CF interior, and prices... please tell us :)
He used hydrographics process. Not sure what company he used (there are a handful), but PatternTek is the one I've used in the past.
They are outstanding!

jlandbl 02-08-2007, 06:53 AM Based on the pictures, that work was done by UniqueAutoSports in LI, NY. I wonder if the car made it onto the show Unique Whips? I watch that show every night on Speed Channel. Their work is top notch. I wish this member didn't disappear so we could get some of our questions answered.
BuilderBill 02-08-2007, 06:58 AM ge2,
Still trying to upgrade my interior with leather or something. I went to the automotive upholstery shop in Charlotte and they told me it was not possible to separate the top portion of the door from the lower portion because it was melted together. I believe your local shop did exactly that. Do you think your shop could leather clad the 4 door pieces and then the instrument and nav top dash covers?
It sure would save some work if we could get a VIN number for a foreign JGC and order the leather pieces through the dealer.

Zak, these guys do nice work in Van Nuys. Located Van Nuys exit right off the 101 over in Psycho's neighborhood. They did stuff for me on my XUV.

Bill,
I Was at the upholsterer a couple of days ago, and we were specifically talking about the things you mentioned. Yes, the top part of the doors are heat (plastic) welded together. Upholsterers deal with that all the time. They melt, then re attach the welds when done. You might either need to find another shop with more experience (?) or maybe have them call Jeremy (the guy that did mine), and have them talk the process over.
The gauge and radio bezels were actually our main topic of conversaton. We popped them out (the radio one literally pops out just by pulling the horizontal piece under the radio), and had a good look at how we'd do them. The far outside edges, where the top 'hump' meets the vents is the part that creates the issue. See, I can't stand exposed edges, and there is really no way around having them, with the piece as is. I am ordering a replacement bezel, and we're going to try some different things. Cutting a groove to fold the material into is going to be our first effort, I think.
I actually may all together abandon covering those in material though, and just hydrographic them through Patterntek. I spoke with them yesterday, and the owner is going to look at a GC SRT today, to get a better feel for the pieces I'm talking about.
BuilderBill 02-08-2007, 09:36 AM ge2,
Much thanks!
Does any one know of a decent automotive upholster shop in North or South Carolina?
kramsay1234 02-08-2007, 09:47 AM Bill - have you tried contacting Startech (Brabus) who is building the parts for the Euros? Maybe if you go through the right channels they will sell the parts to you.
