: why do car dealers suck?

so, like many others here my paint is coming off the front bumper around the fog lights. i take it into the local dealer who takes pictures and states they'll call me in a few days. today they call me stating that the system shows the bumper already had a paint claim by the dealer i purchased from which is in oregon and therefore they can't help me (nice surprise to find out the bumper was already ****ed up and i didn't know about it). first of all, wtf difference does that make? if i buy a car in florida and then move to california do i need to drive to florida to have all service done? i don't think so. anyway, i call the dealer in oregon as directed and speak with their service manager. he takes my info and calls me back saying they will take care of me and all i have to do is bring the jeep in. bringing the jeep in means a 5 hour one way drive. at this point i'm pissed and tell him i'm not driving 20 hours (5 hours each way drop off and pick up days later). he later called me back stating their body shop manager is going to take this case over and asks that i send him pics of the bumper. no response since then.

why is it that all car dealers i deal with do everything in their power to be completely unhelpful regardless of the issue? maybe on my next purchase i'll decline the warranty all together and just ask to be ass raped right then and there.

btw, two weeks back i was at another dealer for another issue and overheard a service tech talking with a customer. the customer was stating that over 70mph his cars starts to shake/shutter. the tech told him chrysler would not cover it under warranty because the speed limit there (oregon) is 65mph. i also spent 20 mins arguing with another service tech about my wheels. he swore my wheels were aftermarket because he had never seen a jeep srt before. i went off on that piece of **** at that point. do all dealer employees get sent through douche bag school before hitting the job?

That really sounds like some Bullsh!t. Do you still have that DC survey that was sent out after you bought the truck. If so then you can use that as leverage towards the dealership. The last thing the dealership would want is a bad survey response. Thats what my salesman told me. Hope this helps.

actually i just filled the survey out last night and i blasted them. it's just sad that every time i need to take my vehicles into a dealer i can pretty much bet on a frustrating and time consuming event and more times then not money coming out of my pocket.

I'll second that. Stealerships suck!!!! Some, not all, it seems like right after they take your money, all service is turned off. Why should the dealer care if they have warranty work to do? They get paid for it anyway. Sorry to hear about your story. When I buy, I ask for any previous damage to be disclosed, of course they can lie. When I hear stories like this it really sours my taste and attitude for dealers, and I used to work at one.
