Is there a carbon fiber dash kit out there for our trucks that are worth a damn? Any ebay links or good manufactures with a good name?

Cheers!

1) i'd HIGHLY recommend against an overlay. There are flat overlays, and molded overlays. These are adhesive backed parts that you stick over your stock pieces. They are generally real carbon fiber, and look very nice, but anything that is 'stuck' can becaome 'un-stuck'. If you MUST do an overlay, do a molded one (preshaped to fit).

2) real carbon fiber is the best, if you can find a replacement kit (very difficult to find generally)

3) using a hydrographics company will use your stock pieces, but it's not actual carbon fiber. It looks fairly real, but isn't.

I've looked at a lot of kits on line and the one that keeps coming back to me is from www.dashkitspecialties.com..... Their kit is for an 06' Laredo(?) srt8 and looks nice. I contacted them about it being the same as the 07 gc srt8 with and with out GPSS/nav radio and they responded that they are a match. They are a little expensive but some nice touches and everything is covered including the drop down DVD(option + $).

Let us/me know if you find any others worthwhile. This is a mod that I've been looking at.

I've used www.patterntek.com to redo the interiors in my last two expeditions, and have been totally pleased. It would end up being drastically more expensive than the $400 you'd pay for the 69 piece stick on (flat) overlay, but a completely different product and end result. That overlay mentioned above looks very nice for an overlay kit. I'd say it's good buy too, for what you are getting. They offer a lot of nice finishes too.

I've seen some "stick-on" dash kits and I have been amazed by the quality. They are getting really thin now-a-days.

$360 in my opinion is a rip off for an overlay kit. There are some that pop on on eBay, which are the same thing this company is offerin, for literally 1/2 the price.

I have always been on the fence about overlay dash kits and such for years. I guess most of the reason is self install since if someone rushes the install the product will eventually fall off or lift as mentioned above. But as time went on I decided to get a kit and try for the show car I was building. I needed more interior "bling" and this was a great way to make it happen. After the install I was very impressed with the way it looked, came out and the install was easy. Prepping is the real key to that.

Enough yacking about what I think, the reason why I posted is that I can get a kit that comes in various material chocies such as CF, colored cf, brushed aluminum, etc for the Jeep Cherokee at a relatively decent price if anyone is interested. Just dont know if it is exactly the same as the SRT8 so here is a photo. The price would be $155 in acse you want to know.

FYI - If I could afford real molded CF I would do it

I need to see up close install shots to make a decision as to whether I'd consider an overlay.

Here are some photos of the install I did. The kit in this car is a mix of carbon fiber and real brushed aluminum.
