: Getting excited. Already being parts for my baby
capitalst 10-19-2006, 07:42 PM I have the itch and I don't even have my baby yet. Since yesturday when I found out that Oct. 30th is my Est ship date I can't wait to buy all these great items like the Corsa exhaust, CIA, etc. So far tonight I started buying things. I went on ebay and picked up the Sylvania SliverStar low, high, and fog lights. I thought about doing the HID ones but, really figured I would rather have a simple plug in light. I don't want to drill outs in a brand new Jeep. I would probably cry. From what I read these are pretty good.
Either way, at this rate I will probably have the Corsa, Mopar CAI stuff before I actually get the SRT8. What else should I look into getting?

Definitley get the 'stubby antenna' from rm360 I got one and they really make a big visual difference on our cars. I also got a 3m clear bra put on my car as well as on the rockers and rear tire quater panels but i'm just paranoid with my black srt8. Invest in some good valve stem caps- not those leaky ass plastic ones so you can have an honest readout from your pressure sensor. And if you're gonna drive it all year round get deep grooved rubber mats and another thing i did is flip out the bulbs inside the car for led white ones - makes it look alot more updated. Thats pretty much visual stuff - i'm just throwing on an exhuast and cai to stay under warranty for a while.
El Calor 10-19-2006, 08:24 PM That's awesome! I thought I was the only one doing this :) I have a ship date of Oct 27 and I already have a GSM CAI and the Fan/Torque Mod (Corsa exhaust shipping soon ;) !!!
capitalst 10-19-2006, 08:24 PM Thanks for the feedback. Great Ideas. Where can I get the LED's for the inside. How many bulbs do I need to change and what are the model numbers I need? Let me know. Thanks again.
capitalst 10-19-2006, 08:33 PM How is the stubby antenna with tuning in stations? I want to get one but, I affraid I won't be able to tune in much on the FM.
WickedZ06- What state are you in?
Also, does anyone know how long it takes from start to ship day to build the Jeep SRT8??

44mm x 10 mm festoon base bulbs are the reading light bubls up in front.
everything else in the car i suggest using the WLED-WHP 194/168 wedge bulb with a one high power led , ( the brightest cleanest white led light i have ever seen )
so its 5 wedge bulbs ( 2 x front floors, 2 x rear upper trim, 1 rear in the trunk door ) and 2 x festoon bulbs up in the reading lights.

I live in New Mexico. Are you anywhere close? I've heard that they can build a car in a day

That is great info...thanks a ton!! :)
DRIHEAT 10-19-2006, 11:45 PM The billet antenna works (for me) as good as it looks. The only possible problem might be if you live in a hilly area with lots of tall buildings and or trees.
...BUT, it looks so dam# good I would get it anyway, I'd just listen to CDs or the Sirius SR.

Thanks for the info... I went to that site and ordered the five bulbs - but the two 31mm x 10mm festoon base bulbs only come in green or red. The bulb option right below those come in white, but are 30mm x 10mm. Will these work??
capitalst 10-20-2006, 07:26 AM Now that I think about it. I might want to change out the turning bulbs, braking bulbe, backup bulb, etc. Does anyone know what model number these all are.
Street WK 10-20-2006, 07:26 AM capitalst, just as an FYI HIDs are just as easy to install as your sylvania's will be.
no drilling required at all.
capitalst 10-20-2006, 07:32 AM Does anyone have any pictures of LED's being used for brake, turning lights?
capitalst 10-20-2006, 07:35 AM Wouldn't the HID kit still require that I mount it somewhere? Also, I'm worried they might be to bright on traffic coming my way. I really don't want to attach any police or anything. Had that happen to a friend a year ago when he put these in his 2004 Ford Explorer. The police officer that he had his brights on. Which gave him a reason to pull us over.

I have mine double sided taped in. Or you could use zip ties. Our headlight housings work really well with HIDs.

Its not an easy install unless you know how to use load resistors :(.
capitalst 10-20-2006, 09:57 AM Could you send me some pictures of the install?
Silverstars are simply replacement bulbs. They are nice, but comparing SSs to HID setups is like comparing gorillas to a golf ball.
GodfatherSRT8 10-20-2006, 10:01 AM Kevin try this website. It will give you all the bulbs and replacements. Hope this helps.

07SRT8 10-20-2006, 10:15 AM What exactally is an HID kit.....is it more power for bright halogen lights?
capitalst 10-20-2006, 10:28 AM Well I orderd the SS bulbs but, what is everyones elses option on this? Would you do the HID's or just stick with the SS and put the extra few bucks toward performances parts like CAI, Exhaust, etc??
Razorecko 10-20-2006, 10:46 AM Thanks for the info... I went to that site and ordered the five bulbs - but the two 31mm x 10mm festoon base bulbs only come in green or red. The bulb option right below those come in white, but are 30mm x 10mm. Will these work??
I MADE A MISTAKE !!! the correct size for the reading light lamps is the
44mm x 10mm Festoon bulb w/ the 9 leds - their largest size festoon bulb...I made the mistake because i ordered two different sized sets because i didnt know what size they were orignally and i posted the wrong one. Again im sorry for the misiformation.
One more thing - all the leds will faintly glow even with the car off - i think this is because the connections all have a small amount of current in them even with the car off and since leds' are very low consumption they actually work off this.
MrHemi 10-20-2006, 11:30 AM Okay cool... thanks for getting back here so quickly!

Here is another alternative for similar antenna if you don't want to drop the big bucks. Mine works fine.
