: jgcsrt8 NOT from a DIG... rather from a ROLL
rumplemenz 04-22-2008, 06:59 AM I am well aware of what our beasts can do from a dig... unfortunately where I am from digs are much less of a rarity than rolls...
I am just wondering what the specs are from 60 mph rolls... 60-90.. or maybe even 40-70 etc...
are we fine against z's.. or g35 coupes.. or stock stangs.. 330 beamers... maybe some non amg benz's.. etc... ? just some cars off the top of my head..
just wondering
S8ER01Z 04-22-2008, 07:05 AM 350Z cars prior to 07 would be a close run (the manuals tend to trap in the same range as you guys), G35s are a little bit slower from what I've seen so I think you would get them by a little bit, 07+ 350Zs/G37s would beat you though it might be close (they are trapping 105~106mph), a stock Mustang GT from a roll would be really close (trapping 104 ~ 105mph stock)...
I used upper end MPH... a lot of the auto cars and some weaker manuals won't be as fast so there is always a chance (by no means a definative 'you will lose' on any of them). This is also not taking into account the Aero Drag at higher speeds (assuming under 120mph races)
not sure about the BMW/MB cars..not my strongest area of knowledge.
SkyeHighSRT8 04-22-2008, 07:10 AM I played the roll game with a mustang GT from 65 to about 80. He punched it first, then I slowly pulled ahead by 80mph then we both got out of it.
btw..thats the closes I have come to having a "kill." Just haven't had a chance to play much on the streets I guess.
1BAMFR 04-22-2008, 09:07 AM I've raced many cars from a roll.
E500 Benz, Audi TT Turbo, & tons of Mustangs
KILL THEM BAAAAAAAAD
But, AMG Benzos and that kind of cars are a different story
SRTYA 04-22-2008, 09:14 AM I raced a 350Z from a 65mph roll (bad spot for our Jeeps) and he pulled about half a car on me up to around 115mph. He was not stock though he was either spraying or supercharged. He still had the numbers on his windows from the track and had exhaust system. I also raced a G35 (new one) from a 45mph roll, pulled bus lengths on him up to about 100mph.
GeorgiaJeepSRT 04-22-2008, 09:39 AM I still have a 2007 G35 Coupe (lease turn in 3 weeks) and I can safely say that the '07 G will not pull with my '08 Jeep at any range at any time. The G35 3.5 engine pulls best around 5000 RPM; before that it's a bit of a dog.
Can't personally speak for the 330 hp G37, although the numbers in the magazines don't post a lot of improvement. That's hard to believe since the G35 had 285 hp and the new G37 has 330. BTW, the Infiniti was (and still is) a fine vehicle...one of the best I've ever owned. I almost got a new G37 until I fell in love with my SRT8. No regrets....
nukemjk 04-22-2008, 09:51 AM I went to the strip for the first time yesterday (1/8th )and my friend brought his new g37s. I completely aniallated him. He was the slowest guy there. Me a slightly modified lightening and a charger srt8 superbee all destroyed him. He couldnt get traction off the line.

Damn, I thought they were pretty quick.:p
At the track I raced a Paxton Supercharged Mustang GT and killed him by about 20 cars. I think he was still spinning at the light when I was at the 1/8 mile marker:eek:
timster 04-22-2008, 10:22 AM we can race from a roll, but only at certain optimal speeds
It all has to do with the downshift - what gear and at what RPM it downshifts too.
barho 04-22-2008, 10:26 AM Back when I still had the beast raced a 350Z from a roll last May. Posted about it back then. Story follows:
After crossing the RT 1 bridge from Trenton into PA on Tuesday, a guy in a new white 350Z pulls up behind me. I proceed to floor it and he trys to keep up, but falls WAY behind.
I let up he comes up on my a$$. As we pass a car on our right, he proceeds to floor it and jump into the right lane to try and pass me I drop the autostick down to third and mash it!! He gets the jump but only can pull his nose to my front passenger door, at which point I begin to walk him!!
I slow down and get into the right lane to give'em the old thumbs up. I look in my side view at him in the left lane driving slowy checking out the beast and notice him with a camera in his hand snapping photos. I give him the thumbs up and he returns the favor as I can see him through the side view. As he pulls along side me he mouths the words "THAT THING IS BAD A$$"
johnny--2k 04-22-2008, 10:33 AM I raced my friends 05 S4 6MT (both of us with just a K&N Drop-in) from a 55 roll and we were dead nuts even to about 110, and on page 2 of the gen forum, I posted about my encounter with a 996 911 Turbo on the freeway. He couldnt really pull away much from about 60/65 to well over 100. No more than a car at most. He was quite impressed with the jeep.

i saw a SUV benz amg (think it was the ml?) walk by a srt8.. i never knew that.. jeep got it off the line but after that it was a wrap..
johnny--2k 04-26-2008, 04:19 PM thats about right. The AMG ML and Cayanne Turbo S will pretty much walk us above 75-80MPH in stock vs stock form. From a dig, we are the fastest SUV to 60 and a bit more, after that, our brick-like aerodynamics take effect.....haha!
shodanusmc 04-27-2008, 07:44 AM Not so much the shape, as they are also SUV's, but the engine, trans, and HP. From a dig, whoever has the better reflexes wins basicaly.
