: GSM Intake/Mopar Exhaust.
z28plus 10-17-2006, 04:19 PM I added a Mopar Exhaust and a GSM intake over the weekend, and I am getting 1MPG less. Does this make sense to anyone? I went a whole tank of gas driving on the highway as I always do, but this time I didn't floor it and kept the RPM's low. Thinking of switching back to the stock intake with a drop in K&N. Any Ideas for what I should try?
Black_SRT8 10-17-2006, 05:15 PM It is not an exhaust issue, I am certain of that. After switching to the Corsa, I netted a 3 MPG increase.

Does K&N make a drop in for the 6.1? If so, what's the part #? The only drop in I have been able to find is made by AirRaid.
El Calor 10-18-2006, 09:55 AM I think you need to give it a couple of more tanks before you change anything. There are all kinds of different factors from one day to the next that could cause a change in MPG (could have had a slight head wind?).
z28plus 10-18-2006, 10:03 AM i just thought of this? When upgrading the intake and exhaust, was I supposed to reset the computer or something?
kwoody87 10-18-2006, 10:07 AM k&n does make a drop in filter (#33-2233) they also make an intake but if you do want an intake just order the mopar intake
El Calor 10-18-2006, 10:17 AM The rule is if you make a performance change that you should disconnect the negative battery terminal for at least 15 min.

make sure the sensor in the intake tube did'tn "pop" out....that happened to me.

I answered your PM, but to clarify, I was @ 13 MPG stock.

Thanks for the PM....gotcha. I did the GSM intake and I don't think much has changed. If I baby it I can get from 15 to 17 on the highway....if!, I stay under 3 grand. Over that and the mpg drops off. And of course...off the highway Ya gotta drive it like it wants to be driven....and then forget about it (mpg)
I do think the CIA gives me a little more "snap"....and the E Thottle control kicks in more....I don't like that thing....but I think it is saving the tranny and differential over time....
split2112 10-19-2006, 07:43 PM After i put in the GSM intake, my milage went down a little over 1 mpg for about 2 weeks...then it went back up and im up about .5 mpg....i know its nitpicking but hey
that might be because i didnt disconnect the neg on the battery
brzypoint 10-24-2006, 07:25 PM People...If you bought your SRT-8's for fuel economy you bought the wrong vehicle, sell it and go buy a 4 cylinder!
