I raced a new Cobalt SS twice tonight.

1st run was from 60-125. When we started I was in Autostick at the beginning of 3rd, not the best gear to be in. However, I pulled an easy six (6-7) car lengths.:D

2nd run was from 50-90 Autostick and bottom of 2nd this time. I pulled about (5) car lengths on him. ,

Overall easy kill, didn't even try too hard.

Just thought I would share.

Those will be beasts at somepoint. Once the aftermarket starts making parts for them, they will be hard to handle. No different than a SRT4, the performance potential is definitely there.

The SC ones aren't too much, but that's the whole point in switching over to the turbo...greater potential, and much alot more $$ to be made by businesses in the aftermarket.

I hope so. I'd prob still take a SRT4 over the SS tho. DRC already has a SRT4 Caliber low 12s high 11s.

Then he lowers his mirrored sunglasses and starts counting down with his fingers in the air. The cheater jumped early and got me from the dig but once I got going it was all over. I beat him by about 17 car lenths. You should have seen how pissed he was. throwing his big wheel all over the lawn.

A C5 Z06 trapping 116~118mph stock vs a modded Cobalt... could happen (need to be a decently modded Cobalt)... it's not a stretch for a Cobalt to trap higher than that though....

thought i'd throw this one in since we're talking 4 bangers that moooove! this is a fellow cosrtoc club member, he was up at bandimere this past weekend while all of us other cosrtoc guys were out having our spring meet. check this insane stuff out, this guy is gonna blow his motor thru his hood soon. lol 1st vid is the quick pass at CO elevation and the second clip is the heartbreaker... enjoy ;)

Well guys as you know i wasnt at the meet so that i could make some passes at bandimere. I have finally taken down the number one spots on the list. First run off the trailer was a 12.9@131mph the stall is so tight i got a 2.6 60'. So we decided it was time to use the spray out of the hole. We put in the 35 nitrous jet and spray from 3k until turbo was spooled and came out with a 11.7@135mph with a 2.4 60'.

We made a change to where i could engage the nitrous since there was still a little lag time between the 2800rpm stall speed and the 3000rpm turn on point. We turned it to be able to spray at 2000rpm. Sprayed it as soon as i left the line and it came out to be a 11.1@137mph. Went and ran the same pass and backed it up with a 11.1@136mph.

i was also having trouble on the 2-3 shift i was reving the car to 8000rpm and shifting. When i would shift there it would pull down to 6000rpm and i would have a split second before boost would be at full tilt again. So we set the rev limiter to 9200rpm and i shifted at 9000rpm on that run. It was perfect it fell into a great spot on the power band, so good that it spun the tires at around 110mph. Overall for the first track times in over 3 years with the car i am pleased. We are trying to round up the big jets for tomorrow so we will see what a 52 nitrous jet will do spraying all the way down the track. Also i believe this puts me as the fastest dot tire car in the country. i did all these runs on the tires i drive on the street. i had fitment issues with my slicks which should be taken care of by next weekend.

if anyone was ever wondering what a srt4 at 9k rpm's sounded like. The diff in the trans was hurt in the burn out box. if you look closely it is only spinning one tire. then at the launch it was over with the big spray of nitrous. If it would have stayed together i am sure it would have been a 10 sec pass

The fact that the little Ecotech holds a rediculous record on the salt flats is evendence enough that anyone with the resources can put together a bad little cobalt.
