I have not been on an all highway trip yet. But, most of my daily driving is highway and the best I have gotten so far is between 260-270. I'm hoping for 300 all highway at 70mph. We shall see.

Sorry, bub. Unless you keep it south of 60, you aren't gonna get 300 miles before the light goes on. I got about 260, though, at around 70. But, if you like to live life on the edge, these are supposed to be 20.5 gallon tanks (06) or 21.1 gallons (07 and 08). So simple math says that you should get your 300 miles at 15 MPG. Expect better mileage if you keep it cool -- way worse if you like to play. Check your tire pressure, etc. before you go.
The REAL question is, can you drive for 40 or 50 miles with the fuel light on? I fill up when in comes on, and I never get more than 17.5 gallons in it, so there's at least three in there for me.

Have a safe trip!

Bob

270 miles on a tank? Regularly? Aren't you from Long Island? You can't tell me you get to go 60 on the LIE and that's all of your commute - I've been there, and sat and sat and sat. Not like Houston, but I sat...

What are you goofy???
I got 36k on mine about 80% highway. I get 285-292 per tank. However, ya got to stop an pee sometimes buddy sooo this works ok.
You could wait for a tail wind and pump the tires up to 55psi and drive @ 55mph. Then ya might get 305-310 outta it.
ps; fuel is weight...

Good to know. I get such poor mileage on the highway in my DD lifted '95 ZJ I usually rent a car when I drive out to Denver for business a few times per year. Roughly 1,000 miles round trip. I added it up, last time it actually cost me less to rent an '08 Charger V6 and pay for gas in that than to pay for gas alone in my ZJ.

When the beast gets here that will all change tho . . . I'll happily pay for gas & enjoy the smiles per gallon ;) Damn I love road trips

If I stay below 65, she gets about 17.5 MPG. But thats no fun, whats an extra $30 bucks to have fun during a long road trip? I say burn it up.

Im getting 18mpg, and a full tank is netting me about 290 miles I have never ran the car until the light comes on though, normally fuel up when the computer tells me I have 20 miles to empty. So I guess theoretically I could get over 300 miles to a tank.

Yes this is true, but man do those truckers HATE drifters... esp at 4.00 a gallon. Also, NEVER stop at the same truck-stop if you've been doing that, unless you wanna get beat. :twak:

Thanks for the info guys. im not complaining just wanted to know what to expect its going to kill me to keep it at 70.. im going to try my hardest. i tend to love the feel of full throttle from a hwy roll:( my truck stays in the city mostly and i get about 200 to a tank.

two hundo is my avg. not sure how since i get on it a lot and most of my miles are city miles...tends to dip a bit when i am runnin a full tank of 100, but that is expected, hell that gas will evaporate on its own if you give it enough time. lol. i have een tempted to push the limits on "E". always had run my other jeeps to the last drop just so i know what i can and cant get away with. so far i have pushed my 07' to where i needed to put in 20.83 gallons. figure that's cuttin it close. lol

Not sure if i'm more impressed with the mileage or the fact that you kept the jeep at 65 mph!

Just brought my daughter home to Richmond from college in Memphis. About 830 miles each way. With one passenger and luggage on the way there got 18.3mpg, with one passenger and the back filled to the brim with dorm "debris", I got 18.1mpg. This was driving on cruise at 70mph, part of it in the rain. Had several tanks over 300 miles. And hit several areas of standing water and got to experience the electronic babysitters do their work. A little strange feeling, but effective. Love this thing, made the trip a breeze!

well being that i have all the time in the world right now b/c im at work i have made some interesting calculations...

This is just an example of someone commuting to work 5 days a week at 20 miles each way

Is it really that cost effective to drive 60 miles per hour instead of 75 miles per hour on the freeway/highway/expressway? Well based on a 20 mile trip to work it will save you $1.81 by driving 60 mph compared to driving at 75mph..

This is all based on 4.25/gallon and predicting you will register 18 mpg at 60 compared ($4.72 in gas) to 13 mpg at 75 ($6.53 in gas).

But what impressed me most is by driving 60 miles an hr to work it will only take me 4 more minutes than if i drove at 75..

Now for the question...

Is the $1.81 really worth it? Well considering the avg person works say 20 days out of the month (5 days a week) this will be a savings of 3.62/day or $72.40 every month!!

All to save 4 minutes each way.. !!

In addition... why wouldnt anyone want to save money for being in their gcSRT8 for a longer period of time!???

so i say kick back... cruise it at 60 miles an hr if you are on short trips like this 20 mile commute and use that 72 bucks in gas for WOT's from a dig..
