I've been looking at the SRT8's for about two months now and have looked at this site often trying to find out what you guys don't like about your SRT8's.

So far, it doesn't seem like there are many negatives coming from the posts on here. The biggest one seems that there are a lot of unknowns about the warranty w/aftermarket parts and there aren't enough aftermarkets available yet.

I test drove one a few weeks ago and I'm hooked on the overall performance of the vehicle; nothing else is too impressive I'll be picking mine up on Saturday.

I love my SRT8, but I didn't inspect mine well upon delivery(picked it up at night in the rain, got to luv WNY). I advise you look the vehicle over before it leaves the lot checking for any lot damage, espcially paint issues that several have had. JMO.

IMO, in trying to have the best of both worlds, compromises result as follows: It is not really an SUV, so rugged off roading, and winter snow and ice will not be as good as say, a standard Jeep GC. It is also not a performance car (as a 4800 truck makes obvious) so, on road handling and feel will not compare to a Corvette. The mileage is very poor also at about 12 MPG. That said, the positives far outweigh the negatives making this a tremendous choice for a performance enthusiast who wants the best of both worlds, but isn't interested in spending 100K for a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, or a Mercedes AMG wagon or SUV.

The positives are miles ahead of the negatives. Just as you will be seconds and car-lengths ahead of all other SUV's and 98% of all cars on the road. It is a unique vehicle with unique characteristics.

The only negative aspect of this vehicle - from an owner's perspective is the Employee pricing campaign. Before you guys flame me for this, just think about it. There is also another thread about resale value. The 300 C SRT8 has kept a pretty good resale value for an American made car. The guys that paid MSRP or significantly more than that in some cases are probably feeling a little bit of a pinch about now. I wouldn't have complained about getting the rig at EP, but now it has created a lack of overall resale value - IMHO.

Other than that, the mileage can be as high as 16 MPG on the road (some are getting higher) and the way that most of us drive these things, I will take 12+ MPG around town as OK, especially when you get the blast of torque that this thing provides with a mash of the right foot. All you have to do is look at what other SUV's get around town and it's really not a whole lot better! I wish I had one in every color!!

Finally spotted something i didn't like on the way to work this morning.

The build quality!!! Damn plastic interior door panel rattles from the stereo bass!!! If this keeps up, their gonna have to fix it!!!

Overall though, I still LOVE IT!!!!

I hate the fact that I have a short commute to work and don't get to stretch her legs every time I drive her. Believe me, when you're foot is touching the loud pedal, the only thought in your mind is "mash it!"

Understand, overall, I like this truck. But you did ask about the "not like" part,so-

1-Build quality-Or the therefore lack of such. Not on par with like type/cost vehicles from the Japanese. Things like cheapie plastic interior parts, bubble gum attatched trim pieces, questionable fit and finish. Sad for a >40K vehicle. Typical of the American manufacturers.

2-12.4 MPG...Thats just plain silly for a 4800lb truck to get-My H2 does 11.4.

3-No one anywhere at the dealerships know squat about this truck. Poor customer retension planning...

4-Why does it wanna go right when I step on it? A little un-nerving at 80MPH on a 2 laner.

5-Back seats suck. Need I say more?

6-1 color for interior? And my exterior color paint costs 200 bux more? Riiiiiight

7-The huge rims need a guard on the outside so to keep off the curbs-(joking)

8-Why is the airdamn so damn low?

9-Cant get to 1st gear after you hit 10mph, then the 2nd gear shift is lame. Where does the power go when 2nd is coming into play?

10-No head room-Im 6ft, but I sit upright. Head is 1/2 from headliner. Bumps suk.
