Ready to buy now and was wondering if I should strike a deal for the remaining 08's or order a 09?

6.1. Its a shame that the 6.4 won't be available. I don't think that we will see it for awhile if at all.

I do not believe you will ever see the 6.4 in a Production run.....JMHO

Was waiting for the 6.4 to show up in 2009 myself, when found out different I phoned Don @ Champion and now have my 2008 w/no regrets. Just...."Happy, happy, joy, joy". Oh yeah, 08 is the best!!!

Seems pretty clear cut that the 09 will get the 6.1...but here's what I'm wondering:

What's going on with VVT? Wasn't the 09 Ram supposed to get the 5.7 with VVT, which would deliver something like a 10% hp/tq boost and some efficiency gains as well? And if so, might we see VVT in the 6.1 before we see the 6.4? (seems like we might NEVER see the 6.4, huh?) Or is the VVT not a good application for the SRT line? Just wondering...any gearheads out there know this?

ALL vehicles that previously offered the 1st generation 5.7 engine will get the all-new 2nd gen VVT 5.7 engine for the '09 model year. That includes the all-new Ram 1500, Grand Cherokee, Commander, 300C, Charger, Challenger, Durango etc.

I have not heard of any updates for the 6.1 but wouldn't rule it out for the future. Definitely nothing in the 2009 model year.

The 6.4 engine is still in the plans for future SRT vehicles. I'll have more specific information later this year...

That's good to know...the 6.1 with VVT seems like a good way to go as well so hopefully Chrysler is thinking about that...but I will leave it up the SRT engineers to decide and ResumeSpeed to keep us informed! :D
