How much do you pay for your oil changes? and where do you go to get it done?

I went to the dealer and paid $130. Thats expensive.

My dealer says they charge $120. So far I've got the first one covered and vouchers for 2 more for free. Its gonna suck when I start having to pay for them.

If you really want to, I can walk you thru it

Its very easy although you will need ramps or a jack/jack stand unless your reeaallly skinny

I like getting down and dirty and doing semi-easy jobs on the jeep. I might have to take you up on that offer.

I never pay for oil changes. Anytime I purchase the vehicle I have it included in the sale agreement. IF they say they wont do it, I simply say fine, I will go elsewhere. EVERY SINGLE TIME they have added it even if it wasnt there "policy." I actually had a free one done early this morning. Nothing better than free

Plan to do my first oil change fairly soon. I have around 1500 miles (I don't know if that initial break-in oil change is myth or not). It's just my luck that I have 7 quarts of Amsoil already on my shelf, leftover from the case I bought when I changed the oil in my wife's truck. I enjoy doing this stuff myself, so I can get intimate w/ my ride :) (I always use female names for my vehicles).

I get these coupons in the mail from my dealer for 14.99 for an oil change, I take my own oil which costs me about 50 bucks and they do the filter and labor. It usually comes up to $16 but this Saturday they charged me 9 bucks because she said I brought my own oil in. :) .. so it costs me about 60 bucks to do an oil change at the dealer.

I buy my own oil and filter and bring it to the dealer and have them change it. Usually around $13-$20 plus the added benefit of a receipt for the work done if you have a warranty issue.

If you don't know how to change your own...Any chain oil change place will do it... $58 for me at pennsoil place last week w/ mobile 1 0-40. Jiffy Lube will probably be about the same. Maybe Less if you buy you're own.

i want to change the oil myself next time, will be a first for me. i need to get somethin to prop up the rig, what's better/safer, jack stands or ramps? both are pretty cheap on amazon, $14 for jack stands and $50 for ramps.

AmsOil Euro formula, and AmsOil filter in my garage $75.

X2.

Added benefit is I'm sure what oil goes in my Jeep. I don't trust the quick lube flunkies at the dealership to put the correct oil in.

If you have room to store them. I think good ramps are safer and easier than stands. IMO.

i'm thinking i'll go with these stands here: http://www.amazon.com/OKOffroad-OK-XDJS03-Extreme-Vehicle-Stand/dp/B000FPZSFW/ref=sr_1_112?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1207679093&sr=1-112

they're $54 and made right here in the us. the cheapest ones on amazon are $14, but i don't wanna be climbing under the rig when it's supported by stands made in china.

I just ran into an issue w/ my dealer this past week on this.

Before, I would show up w/ my Amsoil 5-40 Euro or Mobil 15-50 and a filter - 20 bucks. (been doing this for the last 2 years and never had a problem)

But ..they had some turnover in the service dept (the reps that you speak with) and the guys that take your car will still do the oil change for $20 bucks if you bring your own oil/filter, but ONLY if you use 0-40w as recommended by the manufacturer.

They will not do the change if you bring 5-40 or 15-50 .... even after I provided the TSB dictating the use of 15-50w.

I know this is BS, etc. etc. but for 20 bucks and right near the house/work, I'd just rather buy the 0-40 .... if I can find it.

So my question now is ... where are you guys finding/using the 0-40w?

Its better for cold climates

I noticed when I changed to the 15-50 that the engine was quieter
