dont tell this to my girlfriend.. she refuses to wear her seatbelt when shes in the passenger seat.. she'll let it ding until i tell her to put on her daaahhhaamm seatbelt.. id like to get rid of the ding just for that reason but it take 2 seconds to put on your belt.. big belt guy over here.. be safe out there.. buckle up and let it rip.. safer than no belt and driving like a grandma.. study done somewhere in some eastern european ivy league school.. :)

This is what I found:

Some of the manuals have incorrect information...

The Correct procedure is:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and buckle the driver's seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition key to the run position. Do not start the engine.
3. Wait for the seatbelt lamp to go out.
4. Unbuckle and buckle the seat 3 times within 10 seconds ending with the seatbelt buckled (be sure the seatbelt light cycles on/off while buckling).
5. Turn the ignition key off and a single chime will be heard to confirm the programming.

Hey wait a minute. I do wear my seat belt. But it sucks to be backing out, or just moving the car around with the buzzer going off....So I appreciate the concern friends, but the dinging is getting turned off!

Civic96nos, you we're almost right, but the engine needs to be turned on when you do it, instead of just in the ON position. Screen Shot from the manual:

Hey why not disable the airbags while you're at it.
