The SRT Team cannot answer questions about future product
Thank You!
You may begin posting questions now, the Team will be here soon :)
The Team is here so here we go. Welcome to all of you.
OK guys its time for all good SRT engineers to go back to the drawing boards. Once again, we've had a great time and hopefully got to most of your questons. Stay tuned and we"ll be back on one of the SRT forums next month.
rcs8104 10-11-2006, 03:51 PM What is the status of 2-3 shift thud.
We've been able to duplicate this on some of our test vehicles. It is not an issue with the transmission. The transfer case performs a "self test" after the car is started and begins to move for the first time and passes through 20mph. If you are more than ~25% into the throttle there is a light 'bump' felt as the front drive is engaged momentarily during the self test. Expect a TSB shortly.
95ttoplt1 10-11-2006, 03:52 PM Hey guys first off let me say thanks for designing a great car. I absolutley love the thing when it works like it should.
That seems to be the problem though. I am wondering if some of the things I am experiencing are normal or problems.
1) When it makes the 1-2 or 2-3 shift WOT, I get a "machine gun" or "jake-brake sound" like a semi slowing down or
a spark cutting rev limiter(not a complete shut off like forgetting you are in auto stick). Is this normal??
2) When autosticking how long should it take to shift after hitting the stick? Mine is over 900 rpms. I have to hit the stick at 5k to
make the shift with out losing power and its still a crap shoot as to if it will hit the limiter.
3) My DBW seems to have sluggish response most of the time, some times it is great, I have had it happen twice when the go pedal is mashed
to the floor and held to jump through a gap in traffic and the car had no response, NONE! It didn't drop a gear, didn't rev up, NOTHING across
4 lanes of traffic! Pedal was on the floor for a good 2 seconds. This seems to happen when rolling at a relativley slow speeds,10-15 mph.
I can slap the pedal on the floor and let up repeatedly with no responce from the big hemi(all the time!!). My wife is complaining terribly
about this and has started driving her 00 R/T Durango again as she says at least it tries when she asks. Is this a saftey thing??
4) I know this will get asked, but maybe we can get it out early. Is the shift fix issue any closer to completion? I have the
hesitation more often than not(actually just made its first clean 1-2 shift today at 1500 miles).
It has done it often enough that I am afraid to jump on it because it makes me either look like an idot who can't
drive a stick (missed shifts in D), my car is messed up(jake brake shifts), or it doesn't do anything.
Not very confidence inspiring at the stop light.
5) Do the SRT's get any more QC checks than a regular say R/T or SXT??
I have had quite a few petty, but annoying problems that would have been caught had someone looked at the car
after assembly.(all problems were present in the first seventy five miles). Just seems these shouldn't be present on a $40k car.
On a good note this thing loves the Autobahn and really puts a big grin on your face to wax a M3 on its home turf :)
The brakes are incredible even when slowing from autobahn speeds!! Its like you throw out an anchor.
This thing turns more heads than the Lambo's,Ferrari's and Porsches that are a dime a dozen over here.
The SRT is "the ride" to have in Europe!!
If you have time, some corporately questionable inquiry's :)
6) Are the 06's Speed limited?? How?? DBW??
7) Why no first gear full throttle?? Drivetrain/hardware concerns?? or Driver skill (liability) concerns??
8) Can we update the 06's to get the 0-60 timer?? Maybe a MPP update?? I'd pay a hundred bucks :)
9) Can you give us a quick down and dirty of the Star Scan's dyno mode??
10) Would locking the converter for a couple dyno pulls hurt anything? or set any codes??
11) Do our cars use the same TCM as the Mercedes cars with the W5A580/722.6 ??
12) Why no LSD?? Cost?? It would stand to reason applying the brakes(even if only for a fraction of a sec)
would degrade acceleration and be harder on the parts between the engine and brakes as opposed to a LSD??
rcs8104 10-11-2006, 03:52 PM Any idea when production will resume on '07 Jeep SRT8s.
Hate beating your slow dead horse but are you guys really coming out with a tow hitch for our GC SRT8? If yes, how much longer do we have to wait? Don't you think we have waited long enough?
rcs8104 10-11-2006, 03:57 PM If the a/c is not running what water temp should the vehicle be at? I find that my jeep will go up to between the 215 degree line and next white line on gauge. I am wondering if this is normal or should I take jeep into dealership to check out cooling system.
It is normal for the WK to run at 215 and even slightly higher under normal driving conditions either with and without the AC.
Ironside 10-11-2006, 04:00 PM Hey guys! Nice to see that you take the time to talk to us SRT heads, thank you for that.
I missed the last chat session, so if you dont mind i'm going to steal some of the SRT8 guy's time and ask a few questions regarding the Caliber SRT4.
Here we go;
1.) The Caliber SRT has heavily bolstered front seats, will this effect the cars ability to have the front passenger seat fold flat like the other trims do?
2.) From pictures I have looked at of the interior of the car, it appears as though there are no power doorlock switches on any of the doors other than the driver-side. Why is it that it was removed? Isn't there usually one on the passenger side as well?
3.) After the Neon SRT-4 was released, it was modified for the second year with limited slip-diff', bigger injectors, more hp, etc. This time around, as you can understand, I have some concern regarding purchasing a 1st year model (for fear that you guys will add some awesome new features in the 2008 model). Can you tell us anything to appease these concerns?
4.) Now, I know you cannot release official performance specs, but since you guys created the Neon SRT and now know what the Caliber SRT can do, would you guys personally recommend an upgrade from a Neon SRT4 to the Caliber. How much better IS this thing?
5.) This next question may be one for the dealership but i'll ask anyway; Do you know if you will be incorporating the new "info-tainment" GPS system like in the Nitros in the Caliber SRT?
6.) Will there be a special colour available for each different year Caliber SRT is released, similarly to the Neon SRT? (Rumour has it that Detonator yellow may be on the list for 2007).
7.) Finally, I have been hearing that the Caliber has been experiencing some problems in it's final development (mainly with too much body roll)... can you fill us in on what is going on at Team SRT right now and if everything is still coming along on schedule?
Sorry for all the questions guys, hopefully it's not TOO many, but i'm sure there are a lot of us who have been waiting to hear answers on most of these issues!
Thanks for your time!!

Will their be a Jeep SRT TSB for the rotor scoring like the LX's?
Trailer hitch release date and how much tongue weight will it rate for the Jeep SRT?
Shift hesitation 1st to 2nd in the Charger SRT??
Why are the Service Advisors NOT up-to-date on the TSB?
Thank you for your valuable time
No tsb at this time......
The hitch will be available through Mopar, timing is close, the capacity is 3500lbs.
tsb on the 1-2 shift is about to be released, probably by the end of the month
Service advisors will be advised.....
Ultimatecarman45 10-11-2006, 04:04 PM In the last SRT session the question was asked about the future of a TSB for the 1-2 shift hesitation for the LX SRT's. I wanted to ask if there is any update on when this TSB will be available, and clarification of whether of the rumor that it affects the performance in speed of the vehicle. The last chat called it a nasty rumor but didn't get completely clarified at whether it is an unfortunate side effect of the fix, or completely false. Thanks for the help.
z28plus 10-11-2006, 04:04 PM Will the 07's Remote start option in the key fob be available to add on to an 06'??
Scott 10-11-2006, 04:05 PM Will an AWD SRT Magnum be built?
If you can't answer, to whom should I address the question?
Thanks in advance.
Scott
z28plus 10-11-2006, 04:05 PM Some members say they get a rear end clunk when starting out each time they drive......
The clunk is not related to the rear end. It's a normal characteristic of the t-case when the vehicle is first keyed up.
Ultimatecarman45 10-11-2006, 04:06 PM Another question, for you guys. The last chat hinted at a head/pcm/cam possiblity for the LX srt's in the near future. It would be great if you could give us a little info on what it could be, possible gains, or even an approximate range of dates that it could be available if all goes well in testing and production.
Currently, there is no head/pcm/cam package available for the 6.1L engine. Stay tuned for future product releases.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:09 PM Will the 07's Remote start option in the key fob be available to add on to an 06'??
Remote start is available through mopar but it will have it's own key FOB. The integrated button on the remote affects a lot of the control modules that are tied to the vehicle.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:10 PM Any idea when production will resume on '07 Jeep SRT8s.
JNAP starts production of Grand Cherokees again later this month. When the normal WKs are up and running then we are good to go too.
chipbdh 10-11-2006, 04:10 PM My GC SRT8 exhibits inconsistent performance under consistent climate and temperature. Sometimes it wants to perform and other times it seems to bog down like it isn’t getting enough air or too much gas. Is this a known issue? What do you recommend?
==> Ambient conditions certainly affect performance. So do the driving conditions. If you drive in traffic at very low speed things could tend to heat soak underhood - you could get higher than ambient charge temperatures (since the intake manifold is aluminum and tends to absorb heat).
I receive the drive line clunk at around the same speed as noted above.
The clunk could be the normal operation of the t-case. If it is, it happens after the first key on at about 20mph.......
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:16 PM Hate beating your slow dead horse but are you guys really coming out with a tow hitch for our GC SRT8? If yes, how much longer do we have to wait? Don't you think we have waited long enough?
The hitch design is being finalized. Mopar will be releasing the package.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:16 PM Will an AWD SRT Magnum be built?
If you can't answer, to whom should I address the question?
Thanks in advance.
Scott
As you know we can not comment on future product... but interesting thought.
WKManiac 10-11-2006, 04:17 PM Hey TeamSRT. First of all thank you very much for your time.

rainmaker 10-11-2006, 04:19 PM Hello SRT Engineers,
I know you're not allowed to answer specifics, but if you owned a Jeep SRT-8 what areas would you modify first for the best perfomance results? ;)
In your opinion what's the best bang for the buck mod?
Thanks and keep up the good work. We appreciate your diligence in these chat sessions!!! :)
I guess the same stuff we strated with. Mopar has cold Air kit and an exhaust system for the '8.
ramtough15 10-11-2006, 04:21 PM Is there going to be an option to buy the upgraded Kicker system for 300C SRT8 to include the surround sound and will we be abel to get upgraded factory amps or will we be able to get them re-eq'd

The last chat called it a nasty rumor but didn't get completely clarified at whether it is an unfortunate side effect of the fix, or completely false. Thanks for the help.
The TSB is going through final approval and its arrival at the dealers is imminent. There is no affect on peroformance.
shodanusmc 10-11-2006, 04:23 PM Do the same people QC the SRT-8's as the regular WK's and LX's? There seems to be a lot of paint imperfections slipping out, eg. Fisheyes, Painting over dirt, and bubbles. Then the procedure for repair with the Digital Imaging unit and authorization is a turn off. Will this be given a closer look prior to delivery? Thank you.

Kicker system upgrades are available right now. Surround upgrade for/with Kicker system is on it's way <late this year>.
rainmaker 10-11-2006, 04:28 PM Will the Brake TSB for the LX platform transfer over to the Jeep ever?
My passange side window seems to have a mind of it's own, is that a DXC thing or SRT thing? ;)
The Jeep used at Road America had some mods to help it perform. Which one provided the biggest gains?
330toSRT8 10-11-2006, 04:29 PM The TSB is going through final approval and its arrival at the dealers is imminent. There is no affect on peroformance.
Is it true that the TSB will allow the tranny to upshift automatically at redline even in manual mode?

Why export one from the US, we make them at our plant in Graz, Austria now. Essentially the same as our US built vehicles with only a few changes, mostly to meet European ****logation requirements. We export from Austria to many other countries around the world. Japan, Australia, South America, all of Europe and the Middle East.

Both are built at different assembly plants with different Auditors, however we build our cars to the same quality standards among all plants.
z28plus 10-11-2006, 04:32 PM Any news on the rear end clunk?
Dr.Steve 10-11-2006, 04:32 PM I (and at least one other '06 GC SRT-8 owner on this forum) have had intermittent up and down malfunction of my driver's side front window, occ. when I hold up the auto up the window will go up several inches, then down half or all the way. . . my dealer said it didn't happen for them when I brought it in for service. . . any idea of where the issue might be? any hints for the dealer on how to address / pinpoint the problem ???????
see entry # 52.....
MoparMan 10-11-2006, 04:33 PM How many gen 3 Vipers still remain unsold to dealers? Has there been any thought given to offerring a parts package (to be installed by the owner after purchase) with any of the gen 3's?
chipbdh 10-11-2006, 04:33 PM Okay - Since I cannot get a response on performance issues, are they going to be any tools available from mopar (or others that you might know about) to monitor engine performance and maybe modify within factory perimeters? I love the GC SRT8 and keep up the good work but help us get more performance tweeks from Mopar. Thanks
'fraid that's another one that we can't answer yet!
scbombsquad 10-11-2006, 04:34 PM I'm having issues with my brakes on my '06 GCSRT8, namely the front left. Whenever I brake lightly, like in a parking lot and in traffic, I get a real bad squeal. Is there any relationship between this and the scoring issue with the LX's?
Also, when can we expect that hitch...
rainmaker 10-11-2006, 04:35 PM What software do you use to calibrate the 6.1L?
Can Starscan be used to modify the low fuel light? Mine comes on with about 10 miles left, and sometimes that's a little late for my lead foot. :)

Yes they are the same QC people. I hope you are not unhappy with your paint - please see your dealer if you have issues. Warranty claims do come back to the plant so if there is a persistent problem it will definitely get very high attention.
ramtough15 10-11-2006, 04:35 PM Will be be able to upgrade to the new Nav with the back up camera
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:37 PM Is it true that the TSB will allow the tranny to upshift automatically at redline even in manual mode?
Yes, that's true.
TAXMAN 10-11-2006, 04:37 PM Looking at getting a Jeep SRT8 next year when current Jeep lease is up. What is the snow driving ability of this vehicle. Here in the west not much ice but even with plowing could be in 6 to 8 inches on a highway. Would the standard tires be sufficient for this kind of ski trip duty.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:38 PM Many questions, answers in order.
1) Yes big bolsters for maintianing position for high G cornering will not allow fold flat passenger side seat.
2) The door lock switches are the same as the base plarform.
3) No.
4) The Neon SRT4 is a classic! They will never be built again. If it was me I would just add a Caliber to my SRT Fleet and build a bigger garage!
5) No.
6) Sorry can't answer questions on future product. We always look at things that were popular in the past.
7) No.

scbombsquad 10-11-2006, 04:38 PM I hate to bring it up again, but will we be able to use the Mopar exhaust if we get the Mopar hitch?
Because of the construction there's not enough adjustablitiy in the Mopar system to accomidate the hitch
shodanusmc 10-11-2006, 04:38 PM Yes they are the same QC people. I hope you are not unhappy with your paint - please see your dealer if you have issues. Warranty claims do come back to the plant so if there is a persistent problem it will definitely get very high attention.
Love the JEEP, hate the paint. I picked the car up 9/11. It took 2 weeks to get approval to paint and it has been in the body shop for the past 2+ weeks. OVer 80% of the truck needs to be redone...including pulling the windshield, all trim, handles, moldings, etc.
ramtough15 10-11-2006, 04:38 PM Also for my 300C SRT8 if you are driving you can not access the nav system you have to stop and put in the info. Is there any update or fix for this coming?
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:39 PM Will the Brake TSB for the LX platform transfer over to the Jeep ever?
My passange side window seems to have a mind of it's own, is that a DXC thing or SRT thing? ;)
The Jeep used at Road America had some mods to help it perform. Which one provided the biggest gains?
At this time there is no plan to release a TSB for the brake system on the Jeep.
The "express up" feature is sensitive sometimes. There should be a TSB to correct that.
The GC that ran in the Lap of America at Road America only had the Mopar CAI and a slightly modified Mopar exhaust (modified to package around the relocated battery)
PSU SRT 10-11-2006, 04:39 PM I'm having issues with my brakes on my '06 GCSRT8, namely the front left. Whenever I brake lightly, like in a parking lot and in traffic, I get a real bad squeal. Is there any relationship between this and the scoring issue with the LX's?

X2 on the brake squeal guys, plus some rotor scoring (normal driving, 5,000 miles on it). Mine's from the right rear, pretty bad. Thoughts? Thanks!!
Persicutor 10-11-2006, 04:40 PM hi, im just wondering:
1) which turbocharger is on the neon srt-4, is it the td04-15g or 16g?
2)what is the turbine housing of this turbo made from? is it inconel? also, what is the exhaust manifold made of?
thanks
Sorry, we don't have an PL turbo expert on board tonite. Maybe when we do a PL/PM forum ......
Inferno SRT8 10-11-2006, 04:41 PM A few guys have been getting the ESP/BAS lights on there Jeep SRT8's illuminating once in a while, the code I retrieved last time it did it was C121E ABS comparative performance, since the dealers are clueless can you please tell us what this is and how to fix it? BTW it only does it standing still it has never happened while moving. Please help.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:41 PM Will be be able to upgrade to the new Nav with the back up camera
That would be an ugly upgrade. Nothing available through Chrysler. Sorry.

Interesting...thought you all had replaced all the windows with Lexan, and shaved some weight off the rear hatch.
Thanks for the info. Where can I send the beer?
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:42 PM How many gen 3 Vipers still remain unsold to dealers? Has there been any thought given to offerring a parts package (to be installed by the owner after purchase) with any of the gen 3's?
All of the coupes have gone to dealers. Only a few roadsters are left. We don't have any specific parts package for customer installation, but the whole Mopar catalog is available.
Ultimatecarman45 10-11-2006, 04:42 PM I know that you can't comment on any aftermarket performance mods. But, if mopar ever came out with a set of heads or a cam would the engine hold up to the added hp and torque. i.e. the rods, crankshaft, etc. Is the engine strong enough to hold up to about 525 hp or say 440 at thre rear wheels?
rainmaker 10-11-2006, 04:43 PM A few guys have been getting the ESP/BAS lights on there Jeep SRT8's illuminating once in a while, the code I retrieved last time it did it was C121E ABS comparative performance, since the dealers are clueless can you please tell us what this is and how to fix it? X2 guys.
How about convincing mopar to come out with some other mods. Headers, or CNC heads maybe...what would you suggest?
Stay tuned.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:44 PM Also for my 300C SRT8 if you are driving you can not access the nav system you have to stop and put in the info. Is there any update or fix for this coming?
It's not broke so there is no fix. By law the NAV system cannot be programmed while moving. There are limited features that can be accessed like stored destinations and local information such as gas stations, attractions, etc.
MoparMan 10-11-2006, 04:44 PM All of the coupes have gone to dealers. Only a few roadsters are left. We don't have any specific parts package for customer installation, but the whole Mopar catalog is available.
Does that mean that production of the '08's will begin on schedule?
Also, any answer for the air/fuel ratio question regarding the MP PCM and the stock rocker arms?

The two issues are unrelated, but I would recommend having your vehicle inspected at a dealership.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:45 PM Looking at getting a Jeep SRT8 next year when current Jeep lease is up. What is the snow driving ability of this vehicle. Here in the west not much ice but even with plowing could be in 6 to 8 inches on a highway. Would the standard tires be sufficient for this kind of ski trip duty.
Traction should be fine, but at 8 inches, you will be plowing with the fascia.

Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:48 PM How much would the a/f ratio be affected on a 2000 Viper with the Mopar PCM, headers, cat-back and K&N's but WITHOUT the 1.7 roller rockers?
Mopar does not offer a performance PCM for the 2000 Viper. That being said, it is very difficult to predict the results of every combination of performance upgrade. Check the descriptions in the Mopar catalog for recommended combinations of compatible parts.

Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:50 PM What software do you use to calibrate the 6.1L?
Can Starscan be used to modify the low fuel light? Mine comes on with about 10 miles left, and sometimes that's a little late for my lead foot. :)
We use a proprietary Chrysler software to calibrate.
No, the low fuel light cannot be changed. Yes, be careful, the fuel goes quick at the bottom of the tank!! Speaking from experience....

- The '06 DR frame has been completely redesigned.
- Torque rating will depend on the duty cycle, the transmission will handle the V10 torque without issues.
- Every SRT engineer has two copies of the book, one at their desk and another at their night stand.

Another question are the secondary o2 sensors for catalytic efficiency only and why is everyone having such a hard time with the CEL that headers produce on all the platforms?
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 04:58 PM Hey guys first off let me say thanks for designing a great car.
Sorry you've been waiting for so long but you have too many questions to be fair to the rest of the members please pick the most important 2 or 3 and re submit.

No, our 07 wheels are highly polished aluminum that's also clear coated. For finishing touches we recommend the Mopar wheel cleaner.

Another question are the secondary o2 sensors for catalytic efficiency only and why is everyone having such a hard time with the CEL that headers produce on all the platforms?
Yes, the secondary O2 sensors are there for catalyst efficiency measurement. If the light is being set with the aftermarket headers and converters, the cats aren't doing their job/functioning properly.
Inferno SRT8 10-11-2006, 05:14 PM Yes, the secondary O2 sensors are there for catalyst efficiency measurement. If the light is being set with the aftermarket headers and converters, the cats aren't doing their job/functioning properly.

NasaRacer 10-11-2006, 05:16 PM Hey guys ... months ago I won the Spike TV (Iacocca Foundation). Well just yesterday I took deliver of my 2007 Magnum SRT8. Nice job guys...I have some input for you. My car has the new Transmission Autostick programing. But the owners manual that does say "2007 Magnum SRT8" still has the description for the 2006 Autostick about the EVIC Shift Light and holding gear until you shift. For me it is not confusing since I follow the message boards. But it might be confusing to the average consumer.
Now my question .... so rumors had it that all 2007 LXs would have a "Oil Life" system. I am have read all my manuals believe it or not. Am I missing it or is this going to be a running production change?
thanks guys and hey am I going to see any of you at SEMA??

1) Have your dealer check the exhaust system to trans crossmember bolt clearance. There is a TSB for this.
2) People seem to expect an automatic to upshift instantaneously. (I wish we had a Formula 1 transmission in this thing! - but we don't). While in Drive mode the trans actually starts actuating solenoids, moving fluid around and energizing / de-energizing clutches as much as 0.75 sec before the upshift takes place. Therefore, you have to hit the lever before redline to get a shift at redline (as you noted). We realize people are having difficulty with this and noticed the same comments on the LX SRT-8. There will be a TSB issued shortly for both the LX and WK SRT-8 to address the issue. The TSB will make the trans auto-upshift in Autostick mode in the event the driver does not properly 'time' the upshift. The trans will hold the selected gear otherwise (in AutoStick mode). The TSB will also correct the 1-2 upshift hesitation that some people are finding while in Drive mode. Performance will not be affected.
3) Wow - I'll stay away from you when you merge on the highway! I would have your dealer check for ETC (electronic throttle control) faults. It is also possible that the stability control system intervened and was trying to stablize the car following an aggressive (dangerous) steering input.

Team SRT 10-11-2006, 05:18 PM Is there a certain millivolt the ECU is looking for from the secondary o2 sensors that tells the ECU the cats are ok? And if so what is it?
It is not about absolute voltage, but phasing of the O2 signals. If the rear O2 signal is in phase with the front O2 signal, we know the catalyst isn't doing anything.

This is with the ESP completely off(brake and button hold), I don't think its my erradict driving as even my wife has complained that most of the time the car just doesn't go anywhere when ya need it, and I don't have any trouble codes per the CCN read out in the speedometer

PSU SRT 10-11-2006, 05:24 PM Some members say they get a rear end clunk when starting out each time they drive......
The clunk is not related to the rear end. It's a normal characteristic of the t-case when the vehicle is first keyed up.
Given this, would you then say it would be ok to mash-it and run thru this "clunk" at WOT without any resulting damage? Or would you recommend an initial slower run through the 22-23 mph range to get the t-case "set" for WOT? Thanks guys!!

This happens when taking off for the first time every time it gets driven. Not just when ya start it and put it in drive. Doesn't happen right then.

For myself, I would accept a half a quart of consumption in 7500-10000miles. This is me though and not to be confused with what a GC might be. It's very hard to predict for any car because of usage, age, engine condition etc...

Rob_06SRT8 10-11-2006, 05:49 PM Thank You (but no).
I've been buying New vehicles for a few decades now and I live by 1 rule.
Rule is: "it NEVER gets touched by a Dealership".
No hard feelings I absolutely LOVE my SRT8, just hate the crappy paint job we are all stuck with. I'll simply sell it in a year and deal with the Blinking light....
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 05:50 PM If you want to ensure the track capable performance of your brake system, we recommend staying with the O.E. pads.
It's like tires, guys. Do you want 80000 mile tires on your SRT? I hope not. They won't wear out, but they also won't grip the road, especially when you need it most. Brake pads are very much the same.
95ttoplt1 10-11-2006, 05:50 PM Can we update the 06's to get the CNN 0-60 timer?? Maybe a MPP update?? I'd pay a hundred bucks
Inferno SRT8 10-11-2006, 05:51 PM For myself, I would accept a half a quart of consumption in 7500-10000miles. This is me though and not to be confused with what a GC might be. It's very hard to predict for any car because of usage, age, engine condition etc...
Would that be for the 0 w40 synthetic that has such a low viscocity? Is it safe to say if you drive it hard you WILL get oil consumption?
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 05:52 PM Hi Guys,
Just want to say I LOVE THIS GC SRT8!!! and i've owned MBZ, Porsche and
M3. GREAT JOB!!!
My question is:
Were most of the TSB taken care of at the factory for a GC SRT8 '07 or do I need to go to the dealer to have them address it?
Thanks in advance
YES ... your all set.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 05:54 PM Thanks I will have them check that as well tommorow.
Hopefully they can figure it out.
If ya get bored those other q's are still on the first page :)
OK - here you go:
6) Are the 06's Speed limited?? How?? DBW??
==> The GC SRT-8 is not speed limited. Once the aero and tire drag equal the available power, the car stops to accelerate. This happens at about 165 MPH.
7) Why no first gear full throttle?? Drivetrain/hardware concerns?? or Driver skill (liability) concerns??
==> Have no idea what you mean. We achive WOT in 1st gear. This is how we can get <5.0 sec 0-60s wet or dry. The driveline in the GC is stout.
10) Would locking the converter for a couple dyno pulls hurt anything? or set any codes??
==> Should not hurt anything. It normally goes into lockup after the 1-2 upshift anyway (to help fuel economy).
11) Do our cars use the same TCM as the Mercedes cars with the W5A580/722.6 ??
==> Not 100% sure, but I highly doubt it. For sure, the code / calibration is totally different.
12) Why no LSD?? Cost?? It would stand to reason applying the brakes(even if only for a fraction of a sec)
would degrade acceleration and be harder on the parts between the engine and brakes as opposed to a LSD??
==> A LSD / ELSD was found to have limited benefit for the cost. The BLD (brake lock differential) feature in the GC seems to be very effective. We only apply the brake to the slipping wheel, thereby increasing the available drive torque at the opposite wheel that has more grip. Differential physics....where is that damn calculus book ??!!!

No, the 06 clusters are not capable. Sorry.
95ttoplt1 10-11-2006, 05:56 PM Jackpot!! Thanks guys, Does the same apply to The LX(as I have) as well??

Yep -- I understand, and I agree with your fundamental position. I guess I was just relying on your comments in the last session that the slotted rotors WOULD decrease the dust issue to some degree, so I inferred, perhaps incorrectly, that y'all kind of shared our frustration with the dust level.
If y'all are now saying, "Tough it out. You want great brakes? Get used to some dust." That's OK. They do a GREAT job stopping these big beasts.
So, am I correct now in inferring that the dust level is, and shall remain, an acceptable trade-off in y'all's collective opinion?
Not trying to pick a fight, just trying to make sure I am understanding y'all correctly.
Thanks

Thanks, saves me the research time!!
You guys rock!!

Yes - to all 5 questions.
95ttoplt1 10-11-2006, 06:00 PM Star scan Dyno mode?? no comment??

The slotted rotors do reduce brake dust, but they will not eliminate it. Otherwise, Bingo. You nailed it.
Team SRT 10-11-2006, 06:01 PM Would that be for the 0 w40 synthetic that has such a low viscocity? Is it safe to say if you drive it hard you WILL get oil consumption?
Actually...it wouldn't be oil weight specific for me......just my expectation. As a general rule if you drive hard it would not be uncommon for you to have higher oil consumption........comes with the territory

Got it.
Again, many thanks.
NasaRacer 10-11-2006, 06:03 PM 2007 is the "Oil Life" system a rumor or is it coming later in 2007??
dmcdono@earthlink.net 10-11-2006, 06:03 PM Love my SRT. Would Mopar / Corsa exhaust or CAI affect gas mileage? Thanks
HEMEEE 10-11-2006, 06:04 PM Time flies when we're havin' fun!
Thanks again Team SRT.... until next time! :)
And thank you. I think we're finally getting the hang of this. We really do appreciate all the help you and the other team members give us. See you next month.
My pleasure, it's the least we can do for all you do for us!!
