TutsSRT8 04-03-2008, 07:31 AM For some reason I couldn't edit the title in the other post... Please don't flame me for reposting, I just know a lot of people were wondering about this so I wanted to make sure everyone got to see it. Sorry.

T-Time 04-03-2008, 08:01 AM Do the cutouts increase horsepower when open? Or does it have something to do with the nitrous? Or both.

shorestyle031 04-03-2008, 08:38 AM i heard cut out were bad for the engine because of not enough back pressure is this true or is it so minor that it doesnt matter

Obviously the nitrous increases the horsepower, but I havn't run the nitrous with the cutouts open. It seems the cutouts are increasing the horsepower in the top end by a pretty noticable difference. In the low end there is a very noticable loss in torque though. I'm planning on getting it dynoed tomorrow, so I'll post the actual difference.

It's really a minor problem if any considering they are only open a short period of time. With the switch I can open in close them in a matter of a few seconds. It doesn't throw any codes, and seems to be just fine.
srt8hotrod 04-03-2008, 11:54 AM nice job,,they look sweet under there,,i love the sound w/ them open,,leave em open all the time lol..i love the spray you got there,,looks sweet going into the intake,im sure you will get lots more power w/ the cutouts open at the track w/ the sparay,,excellent job on the video demo,, i loved it have fun nd be sure to post the #s from the dyno...

Not necessarily bad for the engine per se. Generally the more unrestricive your exhaust is, the more power you get at the top end of the RPMs, but sometimes the cost of low-end torque. Aftermarket cat-back systems are engineered to be at the "sweet spot" with just enough extra flow to increase HP at the top end, but still enough backpressure that you don't lose anything at the bottom end.
It'll be interesting to see what the dyno numbers are
**EDIT** Love the sound btw that setup is SWEEET! Nice to be able to choose whether your sounds is bada$$ or SUPER bada$$ :)
These look to be installed post-cat, which I think results in no error codes...
mrfreeze 04-03-2008, 01:16 PM Diggin the cut-out's..

Thank you for explaining that better than I could.
Yes. To a "T" what i'm experiencing. NICE pick up in the higher RPMs, A bit of torque loss off the line, but when it hit's second, it's different story.
and thanks man. exactly.

Correct, and correct...None as of yet.
Diggin the cut-out's..
Thanks a lot.
2BADGN 04-03-2008, 01:31 PM Pretty cool. I didn't realize you were spraying. Do you have the B&G or Predator I didn't see it in your sig?

No... I don't have either. Honestly, that was the one warranty issue I was scared of. When I flash the PCM it voids the warranty, even if I flash it back to factory specs, the dealerships put some kind of code in there so they know that it was done by the dealer. I also can't really get a straight answer from anyone about which one to do and why.

I can't imagine spraying without having the B&G. It is amazing what it can do. Shifts are so much more firmer.
JJJ93z 04-03-2008, 07:15 PM very clean install nice work!
OurZoo 04-03-2008, 10:38 PM Look and sound cool. Thanks for posting the vid!
DJ Red Barron 04-04-2008, 12:54 AM Nice setup. That thing sounds evil.
OneBadJeep 04-04-2008, 08:40 AM Personally I think the stock exhaust with no resonaters sounds nice! How do you feel about the magnaflow for a everyday thing. Is it too loud? I am dealing with the same issue with room to put them. I have to put a different muffler on there to get the cutouts to fit. It sucks....
Make a driving vid with them open and closed....please

I haven't heard on w/ no resonaters. The magnaflow is perfect. I really liked the stock sound so I wanted to go with something that would keep it. I had to stay away from flowmaster. The reason I chose the cutouts over just doing an exhaust system is b/c I didn't want to change the stock sound all the time. I have to ride clients around all the time and It would be a little harder w/ a constant loud rumbling under us. The magnaflow just gives it a clean low rumble. It isn't any louder, it isn't even much meaner. It just gives it a great sound. But stock vs. magnaflow muffler, you really can't tell the difference in volume. If anything It's quieter inside while driving.
3grx7 04-04-2008, 02:33 PM I can't wait to see those dyno numbers!
TutsSRT8 04-07-2008, 07:07 PM Got dyno numbers on the cutouts today. Not very impressive. Check out the thread on General discussion.
