: Throttle difference
Chantililace 04-01-2008, 10:32 PM Hey everyone,
I have a 2008 Jeep SRT8 and an 2005 4.7L Jeep Laredo. The throttle is waaaay more touchy off the start in my 4.7L than my 6.1L... Does anyone know why this is? It seems the SRT8 you need to push it down more before it goes off a regular easy acceleration take off.
Thanks
YoungMedic23 04-01-2008, 10:40 PM Any mods on ur Srt-8?
Black_SRT8 04-01-2008, 10:42 PM Attribute it to the ambivalence of the drive-by-wire setup.
Razorecko 04-01-2008, 10:44 PM ^ yep drive-by-wire= worst thing ever done to an automobile.

stock.. Why do you think my 4.7L more touchy? thanks
Razorecko 04-01-2008, 10:53 PM ^ basically in newer cars as soon as you hit the gas you just dont "go" the computer has to take your throttle pressure and grind it through its ecu brain than tell the car " ok go at 75% throttle because of this and that "

both the srt8 and 4.7L 2005 laredo are new... Must be something different in the how they compute the information..Anybody know why this difference between the two jeeps?
Razorecko 04-01-2008, 10:58 PM ^ well for one the 6.1L hemi is alot more powerfull so there will be more " precautionary ecu measures" than in your older engine...chrysler doenst want to pay for warranty issues.

Adrian I almost fell off my chair laughing so hard at that perfect explaination!

navyavi469 04-02-2008, 08:50 AM Out of curiosity, has anyone ever VERIFIED the 75% WOT throttle plate position on the dyno? I'm wondering if 3/4 throttle in the voltage gain on the ECU equates to exactly that, or if its just an electronic phenomenon and the thorottle plate actually opens all the way.

Check my PCm thread it's in there somewhere, 76 percent on Star Scan/Mobile/dashawk is equal to full throttle opening,
I guess Chrysler never got the Can Bus messages correct.

I see Blown answered already. However, you really want to learn some sh** go to the following link. He is definitely the man for detailed info, and the one who is never reluctant in sharing from his vast wealth of knowlege.
You really want to learn, grab a beer and some pretzels, sit your ass down and read the entire thread. But.......I will give you a headstart on a bit of the info pertinent to your original question.

Lot of effort went into this, and it has been much appreciated by all on the Forum. My suggestion is anytime you see a post by Blown.......READ IT..:D

Yep it's cool it's the Chrysler math 75%=100%
The throttles fully open.

JJJ93z 04-02-2008, 06:20 PM I believe I read somewhere that a new 90mm TB being developed is going to improve throttle response very well. Can anyone shed any more light on this?

Arrington Engines is manufacturing a 90 MM, several vendors are selling them, I think PPP, GSM, well just about everybody jumped on the band wagon....LOL
Jury's still out as to real performance as I believe they are no working units in the public eye yet.
There is also a double throttle body mod out also check the LX forums do a search for a screen names Cam/Jaz

navyavi469 04-02-2008, 06:47 PM Dont waste your money on TB's, the idea is to go from SUCK TO BLOW.
