: My 125 Mph Commute

Yes, life is good! I was ripping down the bahn today when a little Audi A4 1.8T decided that he didn't like being passed by an SUV. I was doing about 80 at the time and when he made his move I just mashed the throttle and Mr. Audi went away. It is interesting watching the gas gauge actually move on the way to and from work. The Jeep is super stable at 120-130. I dashed up to 140 on Wednesday, but with only 800 miles on the beast I will wait a while to let it fly. Flying back and forth to work is netting me 11.6 MPG right now.... I would really like to know what one of these things sounds like passing a car at 125 MPH+......has to be sweet, because the sound from the driver's seat is really nice. :D

That is really cool to read.

Only one public road here in South Florida where you can do that - US 27. Had my brother's G35 (4door) there and got it to 145 before slowing. Next up - the Jeep.

That Autobahn must be nice, I would love to stretch out my Hayabusa over there.

Busa's and other liter + bikes are certainly popular over here. I have been looking for a used one to come up for sale as I too would love to wind one out over here. The whole biking community is much more "user friendly" here. You can stop at a Gasthaus and there will be all makes and models represented and there isn't nearly the us against them (cruiser/HD vs Sport bike/Jap bike) attitude that I have found in the States. In '98 I owned a ZX9 over here and while it was fun to blast around at warp speed, the temptation to do so comes up entirely too often and the results are usually posted on the evening news in the obituary section. I have been running down the bahn in one of my cars or on one of my bikes at anywhere from 80-120 (sorry, the HD's are NO fun over 90 MPH!) and had guys FLY by me going God only knows how fast and it can be unsettling to say the least. Some of the German guys have absolutely no fear and I've even seen them lane-split at well over 100 MPH. One of the most difficult things to get used to is really watching your mirrors for fast approaching vehicles - even if you are running 90+, there are guys that will leave you like you are standing still. This is always on my mind as I run in the triple digits because I am passing lots of people that may be going half the speed I am. You have to REALLY be on your toes. Also bear in mind that while I run high-speed on clear days, running "hot" in heavy traffic or in bad weather here is a recipe for disaster. Like I said in the earlier post, these SRT8's running high RPM must really sound awesome when the BLOW BY! Sorry for the extended post. BTW - I will be de-badging the Jeep this weekend....

WOW! I can't believe this was that long ago. Makes me miss Germany for sure. That was the best freakin commute I have ever had - 13+ miles of unrestricted autobahn to and from work. Virtually no traffic and only one turn, a 120+ MPH sweeper. Stress management deluxe. I miss it :boohoo:

Living here in Nor Cal with the illegals, lifted 4X4's, and retarded drivers has turned me into a mindless drone on the road..... I almost forgot that turn signals are a dealer installed option in Oklahoma and California.

Maybe a European vacation is in order......

At least the fishing is good here.

Amazing how time flies.

And so did his Jeep. Still one of my favorite pics of times gone by. :)
