: How many of you have front plates ?
Razorecko 10-09-2006, 03:53 PM The dealer was about to put front plates on my '07 and i luckily made them stop just in the nick of time - i have an issue of front plates ruining fluid body lines even if it is illegal to not have front plates in illinois.....
ResumeSpeed 10-09-2006, 04:02 PM No front on mine. Illegal here too, but they don't ever seem to bother anyone.
MrHemi 10-09-2006, 04:12 PM No front plate requirement here in North Carolina... so I just have three little dimples on the front bumper :(
The dealership already had the front on here in NY.
jms935 10-09-2006, 04:54 PM Razorrecko, I agree with you. I live in Illinois and refuse to put a plate on it. In fact I walked away from purchasing one just because the front plate holder was already on the car. The dealer thought I was crazy to let that kill the deal, so I said fine put on another new front bumper w/o the holes and I'll go through with it, needless to say of course they didn't do it, and I purchased elsewhere. Oh and I refuse to have any dealership advertising on it as well, they would probably have to pay me for that.
Dealer alread had the plate on mine. I've been stopped for it before here (old ride), and I need NO further legal issues. :)
Sheri'SRT8 10-09-2006, 05:13 PM Front plates are required in CA. They are being much more aggressive in checking vehicles for this issue. None on this one yet, as they have not been issued. Keeping the temporary registration in the window for a bit usually keeps from being pulled over.
CapnFKW 10-09-2006, 05:14 PM Yeah, I just got a ticket from the city of L.A. for no front plate (at the same time I was getting a parking ticket). I'm still not putting it on, though!
RockBlocker 10-09-2006, 05:38 PM We dont have to run front plates in AZ
DRIHEAT 10-09-2006, 05:39 PM After 30 years in the Seattle area (with some cops that had nothing better to do than give me front plate tickets) I move to the great (no-front-plate) state of Arizona!! ...now to get the 3 dimples filled in...:D
surface tension 10-09-2006, 06:56 PM They are required in Utah but they don't enforce it much so I never put them on.

runutzzzzz 10-09-2006, 09:02 PM I would have left the front plate off even tho it's required in VA but the dealer already installed the holder.

i agree with you 100% as a matter a fact in wisconsin where i'm from they try to sneak in a $400 charge for advertisement on any new car: needless to say i didn't pay for that and i got another hundred dollars off of my 07, which brings me to $500 under invoice: bad thing, i'm waiting 30-60 days for delivery right now. 1 down 59 or so to go:(
i do
i bought my vehicle used and it was already on there
and i too dont need ANY more legal trouble ;)
justyli 10-10-2006, 02:18 AM There is no way to drive without in germany.
You won't get even a minute.
BahnBlastR 10-10-2006, 04:12 AM Justyli is right! No way to get away with it in Germany. Everything must be orderly!! :) So yes, I have front plates too.
jlandbl 10-10-2006, 06:37 AM I have a front plate. I like to keep the vehicle legal, especially with a wife and kids. My driving is another story.
jlandbl 10-10-2006, 06:39 AM They are required in Utah but they don't enforce it much so I never put them on.

Sorry to be off topic, but, hey Surface Tension, your ride looks sweet!!
omegaman 10-10-2006, 09:34 AM No front plates needed in PA, thank god.
I fully agree about no dealer advertising on my cars. I have them remove everything before I drive off, even the complimentary (ha!) license plate brackets and those damn decals on the rear. Dealers HATE that.
idealrides 10-10-2006, 11:47 AM Strict enforcement here too. It's not that bad having a front plate, at least it protects your front bumper from light impacts like in a parking lot. Wouldn't you rather have your license plate dented and scratched than your $800 bumper cover?

GodfatherSRT8 10-10-2006, 11:59 AM Put mine on as well. I remember paying $100 for my Armada when I didnt have them on.
NighT ProWLeR 10-10-2006, 12:46 PM Required in CA, but I have NEVER had an issue with any of my cars. In fact I got a ticket for speeding and window tint a few weeks back and they didnt even bother with looking for the front plate. I've been pulled over three times since receiving my plates and have yet to have an issue.
mabosc223 10-10-2006, 12:58 PM Yeah they are required here in Ohio, but I chose not to mess up the look of the front bumper area. It is so pointless. I'm sure a majority of the cops don't even look for or notice front plates. My old man always gives me **** about not having them on, he's a real stickler for the law.
surface tension 10-10-2006, 01:14 PM Thanks for the complement Jlandbl.
wakemktg 10-10-2006, 01:25 PM SRT8U-UP is my plate in NY, it's the law to have front plate. . . so I guess I'm breakin' the law.
SRT8driver 10-10-2006, 02:03 PM I also live here in Ohio. I did not put the front plate holder on. I bought the truck before the dealer could finish prepping it. I do not intend to ever put it on. So far I have recieved two tickets for NOT having a front plate on my Grand Prix. The tickets were $95.00 each. Both times I was in a rural Ohio town and was pulled over by a hick deputy. Still won't put it on. It will have to get REALLY expensive for me to put a plate on the front of my jeep.
jms935 10-10-2006, 03:14 PM Try the "license plate holder is on back order at the dealership" excuse. That has worked for me in the past. Now I just don't park it on the street. I have never seen or heard of anyone getting pulled over solely for the lack of a front plate holder in Illinois. They typically only issue those citations when they have stopped you for something else.
GodfatherSRT8 10-10-2006, 04:32 PM Or if you are parked on the street and the meter has expired. Then the parking meter crew drop you a nice little orange envelope.
jms935 10-10-2006, 05:24 PM Like I said, I keep it off the street.
MOTV8D 10-12-2006, 12:27 AM It is required here in Alaska. They had the front plate on it by time I got there to buy it. I just ordered bumper plugs and took it off. I have not run front plates on my vehicles for years up here. I did get a ticket for no front plate on my Lightning this summer, but for $90 every couple of years who cares. The SRT and Lightning look so much better without the front plate.
NateO 10-12-2006, 08:28 AM Mine had the holder on when I picked it up...
I couldn't picture making it a week in Minneapolis without one... I had a black and white car give my truck a full inspection this morning, fortunately at a 4-way stop! :D
Yeah, no dealer decals on this thing... That thing would have been off, with one serious lecture before I even got this thing out of the lot!
shsuhemi 10-12-2006, 12:08 PM my plate is in the window of the truck. no way.
barho 10-12-2006, 12:34 PM Not required here in PA :D
