Does anyone know if it's possible to switch out the chrome strips below our windows with a black one from another trim level of Grand Cherokee?

Yes, it is possible and easy. The front two windows (each side) are a simple swap out. However, the rear cargo area window trim is actually part of the window assembly. To change this one, you need to swap the whole rear window. I purchased new belt moldings (the chrome parts) and new cargo windows, when I went to color matched trim. It sucks, but its' the only way to go.

What level of Grand Cherokee are they off of?

The ones I bought were exact replacements for our SRT. (The chrome was easier to prep and paint than the black plastic would have been). But if you were to get them from the Laredo, you'd have plain black.
