: Ran Into GSM Supercharged Jeep on the way Home

So I am driving home on the 495. Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" is on the Sirius and permagrin is in full effect. Then something up ahead catches my eye. It is a silver Jeep but it has bumper reflectors. "Could it be?" I ask myself. As I pull (weave) closer to this car I notice that it is indeed an SRT8.

The driver didnt really notice me as I did him, which came as a surprise. I mean, what are the chances that we meet randomly like this?

Then I hear a noise. In addition to Billy, another rebel is yelling and quite loudly at that. I turn the music down and hear the sweet sound of exhaust.
"Very Nice" I think to myself. It sounded good, but pretty loud.

I finally pull up next to him on the highway and then I hear another noise, a slight whine that I have heard many times on mustangs. "No way, it must be the turbo from the semi next to him." But it wasnt:eek:

I finally get talking to the guy driving and ask him what he's got done.
"I got Zoomers exhaust, intake, headers and a supercharger."
"GSM?"
"Yeah, I am on the way home from getting it dynoed."

for all the speculations and inquiring minds (including my own) I HAD to ask

"What did it put down to the wheels?"

"About 500hp."

Happy? you guys have a "non-GSM" answer.

But he went on to tell me that his clamps for the tubing were coming loose because of the pressure of the air from the blower. That explains why he was preoccupied. Then the trucks behind us started honking and at that point we took off. He did say that he was on the forum, but I forgot his name. Anyway, it sounded plain wild and VERY intimidating. But what a beast. Good luck to him and to all you out there. Hope some of you sleep better now. Take care

Great story! You should have raced him in order to gauge the power of the supercharger...

Hey that was me! yep, can't seem to keep the clamp on the throttle body. I got a smaller pulley and therefore more power. Tomorrow we are Putting on T clamps or whatever they are called. Should fix that situation. I had to granny it all the way home!

BTW, hope I didn't seem rude, I was preoccupied - but more so with problems from work today. Not a good one for sure.

Tell us you got a vid of the dyno or pics or anything unclgreggy. How close to 500 was it?

Ive only seen 1 GC SRT8 in real life, I dont know what Id do if I saw 2 cruising next to each other on the freeway. Id probably cry tears of joy

My old man lives in Tucson. He made me promise that he gets the Jeep in my will, heaven forbid something happens to me. :D

I have yet to see one in Seattle either, and boy I am looking! Only one I've seen so far is an inferno in Charlotte.

I saw two in Denver on I-70 and one red one in Fort Collins, where I am... and I haven't seen one since that day. My dad is getting a new car and wants the 2007 Jeep... I kinda don't want him to get one. Is that bad? I'd prefer he gets a CLS55 amg.

Believe it or not I ran into this one in Mexico. My wife wouldn't go pose by it, she just doesn't understand.

Very nice!

I just saw the first Jeep SRT8 heading in the same way as me on the freeway, tonight, heading East on 394, into downtown Minneapolis... I had assumed my normal place in the left lane and am moving pretty fast compared to the right two lanes... Scanning all lanes, as usual, I spot one bad-ass looking, black, Jeep up a bit on the right. I studied it for a second and yep, JGC SRT8 all right, same truck as I'm driving, afaik...

So I blow up in the left lane and stop just before we get bumper to bumper, with a lane in the middle, and start pacing this thing... Now I'm going cross-eyed, 'cause I'm looking at the road with one and this truck with the other. And I'm sitting pretty far forward to even make this happen, as my driver seat is usually pretty close to the back seats...

Curious as to who's driving this beast... Sure enough once we get flush, I see the head come around... It's a female driver! Not saying this can't happen, but, nice! Liking her style!!

So, I waved, then paced for a bit (she was locked down in 394E traffic nonsense, and I wasn't getting into that mess) and then put the pedal into the floor!

The only thing that was curious was that it looked like she had a bumper sticker on the side of it (I didn't get a great look at what it was)...

Either way, cool, nice surprise on the commute home!! Wonder what the traffic behind us thought...

kinds like how Ge2's wife took his truck for a trip... and shes a looker forsure...

She could have been ugly as sin and still looked smokin' hot in this horsey-beast! Well, maybe not... :D

Not the case, as I recall, though... Who knows, could very well be her truck, and if it is, more power to her!!

Now I know why I scan all three lanes on 394, constantly. When you're making any consideration of a lane change on that road between dowtown and 100, you really need to know what everyone is doing in all three lanes! Got cut off twice this morning, both times required a solid foot into the brakes, and the second requiring an immediate lane-change...
