: First Oil Change/Dealer Gripe

I called my dealer yesterday to schedule an oil change and after the lady I was talking to looked up my phone number, she asked if it was my first one. I said yes and she gleefully informed me that it was free because it was my first change for my new truck. I accepted her apparent generosity and then gave her a few notes about the service necessary for an SRT (the need to have 0W40 on hand and the possibility that only 6.5 quarts were necessary). She then took about 17 steps back and said that because I needed synthetic oil, my change probably wouldn't be free. I asked why, given that 0W40 is required by the manufacturer, and she was babbling something about something. So apparently, they give free oil changes to everyone except SRTs. Nice to be appreciated, huh?

Normally, I would have fought that position until I won but I had a free oil change certificate that they had send me a month earlier so I'm getting it for free anyway. But needless to say, I'm still a little pissed. So if anyone is thinking about buying a Jeep in Western PA, let me know and I'll tell you who to avoid.

Mine was free, no coupon, no hesitation, and they knew what was going in this thing.

Fill out the service survey accordingly, dude. ;)

Same here, mine was free with 0 problems. Haha, then they gave me a $100 customer referral gift.
