: Kooks Complaint!!!!

generalconfusion

Well after driving around now for almost 2 weeks the performance of the Kooks and Corsa still gets high marks. Throttle response and gas mileage are up. The Corsa catback had already awoken the motor and the Kooks was the next step.........of course long tubes were going to be a step up from our shorties........I doubted it but they do work. I give the product quality/workmanship and performance high marks BUT the manufacturer gets low marks for development..........development when he embarked in building them and now as he sits doing nothing about the problem........to me this is another product rushed to market knowing a market was there, however LT's on fuel injected ecm controlled engines have a long standing issue. Ford and Chevy sites report of the CEL problem once Kooks long tubes are installed and Kooks continues to ignore the problem and on top of that sell the product to consumers WITHOUT informing them of the more often than not 02 sensor issue. Sticking spark foulers in the 02 sensor location to move it out of the way DOES NOT WORK. Its a placebo....a water pill solution to a bigger disease.

I believe if your going to buy this product be aware of the potential future problems and accept it as a real possibility for potential disaster down the road. A possibility that if another problem exists it can be masked by a CEL you chose to ignore. Also, l made a call yesterday and according to an engineer at Bosch I spoke too, the rear sensor on our vehicles does indeed affect fuel trim parameters.......not like the front one but they both signal each other. If the rear sensor shows cat failure then the front one will adjust to compensate for the "emissions". The problem is more the high flow cats than the headers themselves.......but the stock cats will not line up.........again "RUSHED TO MARKET"!!!!

Kook's if I "kook" a valve or two, are you going to accept some liability for knowingly selling a product that has an issue????....or will you take these back if the consumer is unhappy??? You do not have a disclaimer that the product you are about to purchase could whack out your fuel injection ECM??? Some members have removed them....... will you refund them their money??? I personally will leave mine on and try to solve the issue but in the meantime, trust me, I will be doing more research just in case that valve "kooks" on me.

In all fairness, besides making buyes aware of the performance gains, Kooks should also make them aware of the pitfalls associated with the rear 02 sensor being out of whack.....BEFORE they laydown $1600 bucks and start the old.........chase your tail!!!!

I agree with you completely. If a manufacturer is knowingly selling a product which will indeed throw a CEL then they should be liable for the consequences that may arise. My WJ is similar with the rear 02 sensor adjusting the fuel trim if the front 02 sensor is not reading correctly. Thats why I havent been able to remove my cat and increase exhaust flow.

George at Kooks responded on the blue site and at least is addressing the problem.
