radduc 09-29-2006, 07:52 PM Alright guy's,I am going to put her through the ringer this weekend.I Will be running it on the road course at Pocono for the first time.I keep wondering how bad is the brake fade going to be,and how many laps will I be able to get in before it starts.Hope to see someone there.I well be the guy that everyone is laughing at for running a jeep.Little do they know:D
srt-8-inferno 09-29-2006, 07:56 PM Damn you Radduc!!!!!! If I was given more notice, I would have joined you. These things need clearance from the wife unit weeks in advance!!!:( :( :(

ugh,you have one of those relationships. It's an easy fix though, just tell her you will be racing all day sat and when you get home you want to take her out for a nice dinner. Also, give her a few hunderd bucks and tell her that while your gone she should go shopping and buy something nice for herself. It works ALL the time.Try it tonight, would love to have you there.
TRAINER 09-29-2006, 08:16 PM What course are you running and with what assosiation?

Dude... next time. She already has the week-end planned. I know your tactics work, done them before. We should plan a day later in the month. How long does the track stay open for, date wise??
TRAINER 09-29-2006, 08:22 PM I've raced there into mid October on a motorcycle.. Not sure with the cars... It gets really cold up there early in the season..
radduc 09-29-2006, 08:27 PM ok,sorry to hear that.I think they run into November.I think this weekend will be the north east course but not 100% Running with PDA
radduc 09-30-2006, 03:03 PM Just got back from Pocono and the jeep can hold it's own on a track. It loves Very high speed turns. We were doing the North course and had that half of the bowl. Was hitting speeds of 130 MPH and she loved it,Pulling nice G.As far as acceleration and stright aways the jeep is King! Now brakes, thats a totally different ball game. After 15 Min of running hard, and I mean hard.I had to pull off the track because the brake fade was soo bad I basicaly had no brakes, not to mention I am sure I boiled the fluid. So,if anyone is interested in doing a weekend or even a full day of tracking, you MUST upgrade the Brakes and change to racing fluid. All in all is was nice to see the jeep handle the turns, espically the really fast ones.
srt-8-inferno 09-30-2006, 03:50 PM Great Radduc.. sounds like you had a blast. That would be definately something I would be into if scheduled again.
radduc 09-30-2006, 10:24 PM By the way,I forgot to mention Tires.Do NOT go on the track with the run flats,You will destroy them!! I am going to play stupid and bring them into a dealer and show him where the tire is blistering and delamanating Maye they will replace them."NOT"But I have no down side.I will tell him I drive the Jeep extreamly hard on the street and see wht he says. But anyone with a 1/2 of a brain would tell me to go F myself, but I am keeping my fingres crossed.
So im just sitting here just thinking,This weekend cost me 265 for track time and membership, new brake pads, brake fluid, two new tires, and maybe rotors but I doubt it.All in all this weekend was probaly around $1800 because I did not take a second and think.Oh well, had a great time and highly recomend it to anyone who does a brake upgrade
Night all,
Marcello
TRAINER 10-01-2006, 05:48 AM Don't forget, I have a perfectly good set of 4 OEM tires in my garage with your name on them! They have 9K highway miles... So if your dealer tells you to go f*$k yourself, keep in mind that you always have plan "B".. And, I'm in NJ too..

radduc 10-01-2006, 04:55 PM Will keep you in mind

If going through the dealer doesn't work, try going directly to Goodyear (call them). They will send you to an authorized Goodyear location near you for analysis. They might cover it or part of it.

Depending on what you tell a Goodyear dealer (Corporate owned), you should be able to get them replaced free of charge. I wouldn't tell them you raced it at Pocono ofcourse, just tell them you drive normally.
These tires are covered for the first year of use, so just go in there with a crazed look on your face and say "WTF!? These tires suck!!! You need to re[place them under warrenty!"
Hopefully that'll work. I got my tire fixed for free when a screw punctured it. Then again, I can't see what your tire looks like, but hopefully the Goodyear dealer will think you must have got a crappy set :p
radduc 10-02-2006, 07:38 AM They look like they have been tracked, but we will see.
sunnysrt8 01-09-2007, 08:29 PM I am thinking of taking my GCSRT8 on the track. Besides changing out the brake fluid what other mods can I do to help with braking issues? Any tire recommendations?
