I thought someone would have posted about the final build date for the 6.1L found on the chryslercorporationllc.blogspot.com by now? Posted there on Feb. 22. Anyway, maybe that means the 6.4L will be coming in 2009?

Hi y'all, I'm new here and didn't intend to post this eve, so I hope my first ever post here is totally wrong. With Cerberus at the helm, "Mercedes uber alles" ego a thing of the past, and gas headed to $4, my thoughts recently were/are that the GC SRT-8 might not see a 2009 model.

Hence, today I bought a black one, all options, from a local dealer that the orderer balked on with 27 miles. I am very pleased to join your ranks !

But to stay on topic ... unless Mopar plans to sub another motor into the new Challenger, how can the 6.1 be slated for a final build date ? Don't they plan to put these in Challengers ? And on a side note, I personally can't see Cerberus building an even *less* practical, higher-guzzling Jeep GC. Cerberus are sharp cookies. Sadly, they might bring bad news to this marque for SRT offerings such as yours/ours.

Pardon me for being a noob, and yes, I actually have a 1/2 clue, I own a fairly OK modded '06 Pontiac GTO as the other car.

Gotta have enough 6.1 engines for the new SRT8 Challenger which starts production Monday April 21st... :)

I think the noob has it right. I don’t possess any insider information but my thoughts are that no 6.4……ever for the GCSRT8. Obviously there will be no more MB engines, the demise of SRT by 2011, and the GCSRT8 gone in 2009 or 2010.

The 2009 Grand Cherokee SRT8 will start production in late July, as will SRT8 versions of the Challenger, 300C and Charger.

Work is still in progress for the 2nd gen GC SRT8...

Maybe the 6.4L will see cylinder deactivation to help with fuel consumption?

welcome to forum and hope you are clueless and they keep making the 6.1 or higher

actually, it would suck for future buyers but if they did stop production of our trucks it would help us retain more value. probably not much but maybe in the long run it might.

I hope they give some information about a replacement or cancellation of the SRT line, I'd like to buy a newer one if they decide to discontinue them.

Oh god please no! If this is true I hope and pray that they will still continue to make these bad boys. I have to wait til next year to get one cus this year is all about the wedding. Maybe for those of us who wait will be rewarded with .3 more liters. :D

Ah damn. So MY10 will still be 1st gen? Lets hope if they dont put the 6.4 that they will bump the hp for the 6.1.
