Has anyone heard if Mopar (or any company) is coming out with a Ipod connection for the SRT8?

I haven't heard anything, but I thought I read somewhere that you can hook your I-Pod into the VES system and play it through it? That is, if you have the DVD VES system.

They have one coming out but it works through an FM station. You are better off buying one aftermarket for now.

any good audio shop can figure out a way to hook the Ipod up to your stock stereo

I bought an adapter from Radio Shack that plugs into the VES and the Ipod sounds fine.

Please provide details of what you purchased as I'd like to do this as well.

Pac Acc. has a module but you will have to give up Siruis input.

I forgot what it was called, I already threw out the package. Here is a picture of it. It just plugs into the IPOD and into the VES and sounds pretty good for $25-30. hopefully the upload works.

Oh, and it's made by Monster Cable

all you need to connect an ipod to the dvd player is a rca to 1/8 jack cable. should be less than $10 unless you buy some fancy cable (like monster).

Mopar just came out w/ the conector for the nav. radio...it's 160 plus labor. I'll let you know about the quality after it's installed.

EXACTLY!

If you have VES, use it to play the I-Pod. Don't bother with the FM modulator kits.

I haven't tried it yet myself, but may buy the wires for my wifes I-Pod.

Here is an ealier thread I started. This seams to be the best solution, hooking directly into the CAN-bus and replacing either the satellite radio or the rear entertainment system. Someone mentioned on one of the forums that Mopar may just private-label this unit.

The part in this year's Mopar catalog is just an FM modulator. If they were to private-label this unit or develop their own, it is possible it wasn't ready in time for the catalog.

Edit #1:
After using the links, it looks like it isn't ready quite yet. The dealer removed the page and the manufacturer's site still says "Coming Soon". Until this solution is released, going through the rear entertainment system using a simple headphone-to-RCA adapter looks like the best bet for audio quality from an Ipod.

Edit #2:
Found a new dealer page:

How does this work exactly? For some reason I can't access the VES at all on the MODE unless there is a DVD inside the VES. What am I doing wrong here? I hooked the IPOD to the VES inputs but no luck!

VES only becomes an option when it detects that you are actually using it (like when you put in a DVD), so start your Ipod playing some music and VES should come up in a few seconds.

Mopar has an Ipod direct connect kit (NOT FM bound) which directly interfaces with the REC, RAK, RAQ and REF factory radios. MOPAR Part number 82209617 which I purchased from ************.com for $ 193.50.

When the ipod is connected, all navigation is performed through the factory radio and steering wheel controls. Works flawlessly with my RAQ factory radio. If you have Satellite radio, I understand that this model will disable satellite pre-sets.

FEATURES/BENEFITS
Fully integrates with REC, RAK, RAQ, & REF radios.

--- Fully compatible with the 4G: iPod nano, iPod mini, iPod, iPod photo, and iPod video; and the 5G: iPod nano, iPod, iPod photo, and iPod video.

--- Audio voice prompts guide you through menu selections on RBK radio.

--- Mopar's iPod integration kit provides a physical connection between the iPod and the vehicle's audio system, resulting in optimal digital audio quality.

--- Your iPod and Mopar's iPod interface cable is safely stored in the vehicle's glove box.

--- The interface cable allows the customer's iPod to charge when the vehicle ignition is "On".

--- Easily control your iPod function via radio and multifunction steering wheel controls

--- Features Previous Track, Next Track, Browse Play list/Artist/Albums/Genres, Shuffle and more!

Very happy with the ipod direct connect and the installation wasn't too bad. I purchased an ipod dock made by Dice Electronics, mounted on a custom KUDA mount made specifically for the JGC.

What is this VES? Does the Jeep have an AUX plug? Kind of like a headphone jack that you can just plug in one of those cables that has a head phone plug on either end.

If you have the rear entertainment you have an aux plug, nothing on the nav unit.

I have a 2007 VES in the SRT8. Connected the Video IPOD to the Aux inputs via the appropriate wire I got from Radio Shack...Still nothing. The VES doesn't detect my IPOD at all. I tried a separate IPOD just in case and separate connector as well. Still nothing.

Should I take it to the dealer? Or am I continuing to do something wrong here? Thanks guys.

Yes, the 2008 mygig has an aux hole, located right under the usb port.
