: Anyone install Jeep appearance items?
SRT84me? 02-21-2008, 07:30 AM Just wondering if many on here have installed Jeep rear door sill plates, Chrome gas flap, chrome or black taillight guards, Smoked front air deflector, or rear spoiler.
The Jeep SRT8 is essentially a drag car grafted onto an SUV. I dont know if some of these add-ons would be better suited to an off-roading Jeep.
Of course if anyone has installed these items, I'd love to see some pictures on an SRT8, so I can make some decisions.
Also, am I the only one annoyed that a $40k+ vehicle doesnt have a power gas flap?:flame:
rha600 02-21-2008, 08:30 AM power gas flap? you mean remote release I believe correct? to me it's pointless. if someone is going to steal my gas I'd rahter them just take the gas than take the gas AND destroy my gas flap getting to the gas.
SRT84me? 02-21-2008, 08:39 AM Thanks for correcting me on that important point.
Some "bad people" out there try to put foreign material (sugar etc) INTO a gas tank. An SUV that gets 9 MPG is not an uncommon target.
rha600 02-21-2008, 08:45 AM very true.
btw, where are you in Ft Laud? I used to live in Weston up until 3 months ago.

I picked up the locking mopar gas cap to solve that problem :bigthumb:

I had one of those on my 1979 Thunderbird. I didnt think I'd ever need one again. The best case scenario now would be to get a cap that can be keyed to my Jeep valet key. They do make them, but they are pricey.
ChadC 02-21-2008, 09:51 AM I got the rear spoiler deflector or what ever they are calling it....came painted(red rock) and ready to install no drilling....something like $200 from the dealer......had it in 2 days.....it made a huge difference IMHO....

Is it possible to siphon gas out of these Jeeps? I tried siphoning some gas out of my wifes Lexus RX 400H, and I couldnt get the hose to get past some sort of built in anti-gas theft bend in the filler.....funny story, I had to ship that car from Hawaii to CA, and it couldnt have more that 1/4 tank of gas(thats why I tried to siphon it)....you know how hard it is to wast gas in a hybrid? I had to drive around for hours! Wouldnt be hard in the Jeep tho:D

SRT84me? 02-21-2008, 11:12 AM We learned after the last hurricane that it is pretty close to impossible to siphon gas from a modern car. Supposedly there is some kind of check valve that keeps fuel in the tank in the event of a rollover.
rha600 02-21-2008, 11:26 AM Wilma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)
sentipede 02-21-2008, 11:45 AM i wonder how the black taillight guards would look on top of tinted tails?

That'll prevent ppl from not stealing your gas. But what if some punk kids want to pour sugar down your tank? You'r screwd

Yeah, I was counting on the 25 gallons in my Durango and 16 in the Sebring to run the generator for a few days. Learned that lesson pretty quick.
Later learned from a friend that you can use a screw driver and a pan to get gas from modern tanks. Preferably not your own though... :)

These match the SRT fronts really well. Is that "Item # 82209307AB - Rear Set?"
I gotta say they look kinda small back there. Also, for just a little extra money, you could carve up 2 SRT sill plates to fit. Not sure whether i will get these.
Thanks for posting!!!

Sugar in the gas tank causing irreparable damage is an urban legend. They also debunked it on Mythbusters IIRC. (http://www.snopes.com/autos/grace/sugar.asp)
mr8srt 02-25-2008, 02:22 PM Just order door sills for mine!!! http://www.************.com/srdosipr.html
rha600 02-25-2008, 02:22 PM it might not hose your engine but I sure as hell don't want it in my fuel lines.
sentipede 02-26-2008, 08:13 AM is this a jeep product?

sy1616 02-26-2008, 10:17 AM I saw an SRT8GC in Doylestown PA with rear light trim...looked like ass! Kind of something you'd put on a 1984 Olds Cutlass. not a beast like this!
