: Went 150+ mph in my Jeep today
Patrick G 02-19-2008, 05:30 PM Didn't run it long enough to find out its final top speed, but driving 150+ in an SUV with one hand is pretty exciting. I hear that the true top speed of these Jeeps are close to 160mph. That's some horsepower for sure! :hail:

I logged the run with my Predator, but the mph stopped registering at 127.5 mph so this picture will have to do.
Crookster777 02-19-2008, 05:31 PM NICE! Funny how you had it on cruise. I have only pushed my 5.7 to 110.
navyavi469 02-19-2008, 05:33 PM I'm still in the dark as to what the top speed of the Jeep really is. I thought that they were redline (transmission) limited to around 168mph.
My tuner says that he hits speeds in excess of that on the dyno all the time though... I have raised my redline to 6500rpm though, and we can push it to 7000 if needed.
2BADGN 02-19-2008, 05:38 PM Congrats on the speed. Nice.
OurZoo 02-19-2008, 05:54 PM Top speed for me thus far was 145, but I was freaked out I would be pulled over so I shut her down.
Jeep Trick 02-19-2008, 05:58 PM I hope that was on a airport runway or something dude. Pulling a one hander while taking pics . Over 100 and my hands are glued to the wheel
Congrats, drive safe
fergcougar 02-19-2008, 06:06 PM nice! I think with the pred tune its 168
Nice... Next time we will take your word for it. No photo's necessary
fergcougar 02-19-2008, 06:23 PM *** 0-60.. Lets see who has the best 0-160 time
FDNY-L107 02-19-2008, 06:43 PM Not to start flames.....but really Dude....assuming you were on a public road, please, take it to the track. People die at those speeds - no second chances. I know - I've picked bodies off the road before.
fergcougar 02-19-2008, 06:47 PM fair.. I will listen to a FDNY!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your service!
bridam 02-19-2008, 06:47 PM Actually, I'm waiting to see if one of these posts ever becomes evidence at some kind of trial. Pretty interesting.

Hmm. Internet activities have been used as evidence for all sorts of things. Ever watch "to catch a predator"?

Yes it is interesting. If you read post 19 and beyond in the link, this guy was playing around with coworkers on the way to work and resulted in two deaths -- on a crowded freeway no less. The family/friends of the deceased started browsing the internet looking for this guy... interesting read, makes you think twice about posting "kill" stories on the internet.

Patrick G 02-20-2008, 06:12 AM While I don't advocate driving this fast on public roads, I am an experienced open road racer and land speed veteran (see 183 mph video in signature). The photo was taken on a freshly paved desolate highway with no traffic for 5 miles in either direction. The location is secret (as we use it to test our land speed and ORR cars). I feel like the Jeep had a few more mph in it, so one of these days I will see about exploring that on a closed course (with helmet, safety gear, and an in-car video recorder).

You also know people die at 55 and 65 as well. ;) There is certainly an element of respect and integrity one must posses to attempt such speeds.
Also... good to see a fellow brother on the forums. :)

You rented the road as well, right? ;)
sy1616 02-20-2008, 02:10 PM I call dumb ass...sorry, that's just dumb to do in public.
Patrick G 02-20-2008, 03:37 PM I call dumb ass...sorry, that's just dumb to do in public.See post 23. Not dumb. Not inexperienced. No cars for 5 miles in either direction. The only person at risk was myself. I'm pretty good at knowing the limits of myself and my machines.

yeah only on dyno, jeep being a brick with a higher center of gravity will not go faster than 170 or 160 for that matter at least in a stock form. I had trouble getting past 170PMH in a C6 vette

Please feel free to kill yourself but you really had no idea what cars would be pulling on the road as you can't possibly know what's clean for 5 miles. You have no animals cossing the road either I suppose?

I used to be on another site that was for music, hardcore bands, cbgb's and such. the police nailed a few people on that site before we knew they were monitering it, people would be bragging about guys they beat up at a show in detail.what club, how it started, what guys were wearing, who hit who with what, who got hurt ect.all fun & games till the detectives knocked on thier doors.
