Downside to Colorado is that the roads suck here and there is no way I could hit that.

Do you have one of those handheld GPS units you can take along next time? That will give an accurate mph even if our GC speedo is off.

Amazing vehicle ain't it.:)

I did it on rt 78 just before 287, as far as the mods I have Ported and polished the heads and intake, changed the valves,GSM CAI,Kooks Headers,Magna flow exhaust,esp/fan mod with 180 degree thermostat and I think thats it.As Far as having a hand held GPS I don't have one but will see if I can get a hold of one. Also the Jeep has 11,000 miles on it.

Do you recall how many RPM you were running at the time? It had to have been close to redline by then...

I new that was the question everyone was going to ask.At that speed the only two things I was focused on was the road and the spedo.I will try it again this weekend looking @ the tach as well, I just can't immagine what would happen if I got pulled over at that speed.

I just can't immagine what would happen if I got pulled over at that speed. :eek:Let's see... you'd be arrested, cuffed, and driven to jail. Your SRT8 would be impounded. You'd have to post bond, find your GC in the impound yard (hope like Hell there isn't any scratches or dents), and then pay some $$ to get it out. Find a good lawyer. Go to court... if you're lucky (and/or have a previously good driving record), you'll just have to pay a hefty fine and have a few points taken from your license. If you're not lucky... jail time, suspended license for up to a year, huge fines, dropped from your insurance company, and who knows what else. Either way your insurance company is not going to be sending Christmas cards to you anymore!

I have two friends that went through this... one got caught doing 154 in a 55 mph zone - the other friend was busted doing 124 in a 55 mph zone.

I guess telling the Judge that the radar gun was broken because this is a Jeep, and there is no was a jeep could attain those speeds wouldn't work.

Probably not, but it'd be worth a try! :) The forecast here is for rain over the next five days, so I won't be making any warp-speed runs... :(

Being in germany you should be able to top that thing out in no time.I wish I lived over there, well at least be able to drive my top 10 cars on that monster of a road:D

I knew a guy a while back that got snagged doing 120 in a 55 zone in NJ. He had no points on his license at the time. He lost his drivers license for 3 months.

This is my third time living here and it is undeniably the best driving anywhere. There are some autostradas in Italy that may be more picturesque, but Germany rocks. I am very lucky to live in a rather rural part of Germany that doesn't have lots of traffic. The downside to running at hyper-speed is that if you are running in the 130MPH+ range you are passing some cars that are doing around 60-70 MPH. The laws of physics and brake capability work the same for everyone. Trucks are limited to about 62 MPH and they have the nasty habit of "Elephant Racing" here. The F*ckers can see you coming and pull out at just the right moment to make you wait for them to pass the other truck (or trucks) that are going 61.5 MPH while he passes at exactly 62 MPH. The whole affair can take 2 or more kilometers and is enough to piss you off. That, and the ever-present "grandpa" or Eastern block visitor that just pulls out - whether they even look or not is anyone's guess! - and you have to do some serious brake checks!
As you said before when I asked about the RPM's, there are really important things to be doing at 150+MPH and none of those should be anything but watching the road. I got lucky on the picture I took at speed because I didn't even look at the camera, I just snapped it and threw the camera in the pass. seat. I tried to have everything ready prior to the shot. I'll try to run her up to 150 some time this week for you guys! I have to take advantage of the legal speeds while I can.

I believe BB's picture 160+ but 175 mph? Rev limiter won't let the engine rev that high stock? Sorry but ran my GN that speed once after installing my new engine, 160 mph, 6100 rpm maxed out. (like BB's run and almost identical mph and rpm with 26" dia tires and a 3:42 rear ratio) Be careful where you try it as we don't want to loose anyone. Good Racing. Gene

YOu think I am making this **** up???I am 37 not a 16 year old that needs to prove something to his friends.I can promise you 2 things.the spedo indicated 175 and I was not hitting the rev limmiter.I don't think it will be possible to take a pic at that speed as I am going around a left hand corner at 175MPH and I need both hands.I will try to have a friend in the back seat take a pic over my shoulder,If I can find one so brave.Or I can get one of those garmen handheld gps's that show speed.Oh that won't work, one of you guy's will say I was in a sesna 152 or something.Trust me,the spedo said 175 and that is a fact! And my jeep is far from stock, but I did nothing to the gearing.

radduc, no problem just asking a question. I do fly a Cessna 152, 172, and other single engine airplanes being a Instructor Pilot with 1800 hrs. Take care and be careful on your tests, we would like to keep you alive for many years. A Good Run on NJs' congested highways to boot! Gene:D

Hey Gene, good to have you chime in here. Yes, its a friendly thread and I still think there is more in my stock rig, but I just ran out of road. If I can get to a long enough straight we'll see if I can't get a higher MPH pic. I think Radduc could have easily busted into the 170's. This thing just doesn't want to quit, no matter what the tach says! My tach on the 163(ish) run still had more RPM's till redline and it was still pulling. Heck, I wish I had Radduc's mods! It's a moot point though, as the high-speed fun will be over for me all to soon. I will miss the autobahns -- except for the dip stick (Old Man) that pulled out in front of me in the G35 today while I was travelling at 140MPH+! There is no way the old fart couldn't tell that I was hauling a$$ and then the d*ckhead had the balls to flash his lights at ME! OK, I've vented.

I've been first time on the german Autobahn with my new SRT8 WH export model last weekend.

With only 350 miles on the odo I tried going fast.

I hit 165mph on the speedo and as somebody said
it pulls like champ on the Autobahn, while leaving some surprised looks on people's faces that an American Jeep is charging down the road like that.

I just finished giving my new jeep a top end run and it flattened out at 150ish around 6200 on the tach. Might have gotten at little more but it wasn't pulling much after 150. This was on I-40 New Mexico. 2160 miles on vehicle. It will probably loosen up some. Very quick to 150 and it was rock solid on the road.

I agree -- what was your RPM at 175? I have had mine past 160 several times on the autobahn and I was bumping into the 6000 RPM range pretty strong.
