: 2wd srt8 jeep
kwoody87 09-22-2006, 01:45 PM i have heard when i went to the srt track experience from one of the guys there that he knew someone who flicked a switch on the engine somewhere and it switched from all wheel drive to 2wd, i was woundering if any of you knows anything about this or if the guy was just an idiot
the guy was an idiot you can do it but it's not as easy as flipping a switch.
MatFab 09-22-2006, 02:06 PM i just honk the horn twice fast.. rev it up.. lights on and off real quik.. jump up and down.. and it seems to put my truck in 2wd... hope this helps

That works w/mine too, but it does require 3.75 cartwheels at th end... :D
SilverSRT8 09-22-2006, 02:19 PM It can be done with the flip of a switch. Apparently it has already been done. the guy I talked to said not to say anything on here, he works for a company that is a member of this site. they already made the kit. Thats all I will say. But jumping up and down, turning your lights on and off and reving it up is a lot cheaper way of doing this.
gculver 09-22-2006, 02:23 PM Idiot, Hell i just take some peyote buds and everything seems like its 2wd, HA, HA !!!!!
Blown-WK 09-22-2006, 02:28 PM Yeah there is a video of that dude somewhere. It shows him go under the hood then get back in the Jeep and proceed to do the biggest burnout I have ever seen.
MatFab 09-22-2006, 02:29 PM wheres this kit... i'm sick of doin all the honking and jumping..
lincoln 09-22-2006, 02:38 PM Ask John Hennesey, I'm pretty sure he didn't disconnect the half shafts up front to run it on his 2 wheel dyno.
srt8suv 09-22-2006, 03:10 PM I like the jumping thing! :D
Untouchable 09-22-2006, 03:34 PM unplug the harness to the transfer case.
In terms of switches...a switch is nothing more than an interrupted circuit. So put a simple in line switch to the power supply to the t case and you have your "kit" go to radio shack.
srt8suv 09-22-2006, 03:41 PM I need to try that!! ;)
whipple1 09-22-2006, 03:44 PM Untouchable, you took the words right out of my mouth
SilverSRT8 09-22-2006, 03:56 PM yeha do that and give us a video. I would enjoy doing 2 wheel burnouts.
SRTJeep 09-22-2006, 05:03 PM My Dealer said the DCX Vehicles that were brought to each major city had this switch installed? (Introduction to the SRT8 JGC) It can be done but Engs won't tell how? Maybe the "Peyote Smokers" know how its done? Gene

Who's got a wiring diagram to the transfer case? ?Milous? It would make summer driving that much more entertaining using 2WD. I'd easily go for this mod if I had a wiring diagram to refer to.
kwoody87 09-23-2006, 01:33 AM ya i asked you guys that bc 2wheel burnouts are just sick even tho their for show so i think he should tell us where this switch is at our please do give a wiring diagram for all of us bc like i said 2 wheel burn out are insane minus the need for extra tires
idealrides 09-23-2006, 10:25 PM it's not just for show... you get better throttle response and more RWHP.

srt8suv 09-24-2006, 03:15 AM Can anyone tell me where is that switch ?
Grip Grip 09-24-2006, 06:12 AM I can't seem to find a photo of the disconnected plug, but below is a link to a video of a Silver SRT8 launch/burnout with the transfer case plug disconnected. The owner claims no adverse effects from temporarily disconneting the TC
http://media.putfile.com/GC-SRT8-Burn-out
Disconnecting the TC would be a viable solution for those looking to dyno, but have no AWD dyno in the area. Those AWD dyno's are pretty scarce.
kwoody87 09-24-2006, 09:39 PM cool but please for the love of god where is this danm plug/switch haha i want my car to do that

BahnBlastR 09-25-2006, 06:47 AM Only 26 GC SRT8's were built with this switch. If your VIN has the letter J or H in it, you were excluded. If you were one of the lucky one's that got the switch, it's located on the right side of that curly thing-a-ma-bob under the square box that's just to the left of the other thing inside the dumbasstecless. Happy hunting!
If all else fails, start jumping up and down!

I do not think disconnecting the transfer case connector would be a good thing to do for any reason do to the fact that even when you pull the plug on the T-Case... isn't there still a pre-load on the clutch pack in the T-Case?
If this is the case then there is possible damage being done to the clutch in the T-Case, glazing or burning of the clutch plates?
Just a thought.....
idealrides 10-06-2006, 05:56 PM ok i'll spill the beans... there's no switch just a 20 amp fuse labeled FDCM. it's hard to pull out with your fingers so just use your ignition key and it pops out easy and you can store it in the adjacent empty fuse slot for safekeeping until you're sick of the burning rubber smell permeating your interior.
while you're there you might as well pull the ABS pump fuse then you can really have some fun!
