: What ride did you come from when going to GCSRT8?
lxtassy88 02-12-2008, 03:20 PM I will be switching from driving a diesel f350, I have had two since 03 and am worried the GCSRT8 would be to small for everyday, lol. When I drive my better halfs TBSS its fun and not too small but lets here what you went from

Harrison@Stage6 02-12-2008, 03:27 PM Here is my old and new truck..... I hate to say it but, I don't really miss driving the Ford THAT much. The one thing I miss was the surprise factor of beating imports. Now the imports don't really mess with me too much. Just a few. Yes there is a HUGE interior size difference. That's about the biggest thing you'll miss....... that and gas milage. But 93 is cheaper than diesel for sure.

07BLKGCSRT 02-12-2008, 08:41 PM Had 2007 conv. vette with 400 miles , traded in May for the gcsrt8 . Jeep has 598 miles on it sleeping in the garage. The garage might become empty if the economy doesnt get better. Jeep is a second vehicle/toy, but haven't had any time to play with it. The only racing and mods I've had time for is the ones I've read about in the forum.

2000 Mercedes E320....That is of course until a stupid lady decided to run a stopsign and T-bone me just because she could not end her phone conversation. To make matters more f-ed up, she decided that it was not important to exit the vehicle or to get off of her phone until the cops got there....Not even to see if I was alright. Luckily I didnt have to kill her because I got to ride in an ambulance.....
But Im content now with my Jeep.....for now.

lxtassy88 02-14-2008, 11:03 AM My GF liked the TBSS better for her own reasons so I got her one of them and it was alot cheaper with discount and 0%. but driving that gives me the itch to get the GCSRT8 but i love my truck too so its a tough one, I mean I have a fast as car to cruise the streets in the summer and as soon as the project car is done a 7 sec car to bring out once in a while, but I just love this damn Jeep, lol

I like the SRT 8 since it's much more "parking lot friendly" vs. what I currently drive for going out to stores, to dinner, etc... It's fun to drive and already fast. And it's gas not diesel so it won't run like azz for the first ~5 miles in the morning when I don't work over the winter.
I don't want another money pit of a vehicle so I'd only do a few mods :D
I could sell my lifted 01 and easily get one now......but I'm not sure I could do that, I have a lot of time and money put into that truck.

Not here, if mine were lost and I had to buy another vehicle it would be whatever current rev of JGC SRT/8 currently available. For a pipe dream I'd go a little smaller/lighter if possible with similar performance/cost characteristics, but Auto/AWD are a personal must. The big issue is reliability being a daily driver. The JGC meets all of those and is arguably the best in class at it, iMHO. If cost and some other items were no object the new GTR looks like it might be a winner.
I do miss the paddle shifters on that old Audi RS6 though.
PaulW 03-20-2008, 09:06 AM Hi Folks,
I had a 2003 Porsche Cayenne S (with the V8) modded with a custom exhaust, removal of rear cats, twin K&Ns and a few other do dads. It was very comfortable but not quick. The S had a lower gear ratio than the Turbo so it felt a little quicker off the line but nothing like the GCSRT8. Then I went to a Toyota FJ cruiser for 18 months. It was fun (in a "different" sort of way) and I had it modded with a small lift, some nice wheels and tires and assorted do dads but I never went off road and it was built for that. So, now I'm back with a serious machine and am lovin it. The GCSRT8 is much better than the Cayenne S and just as comfortable and sophisticated.
Before the Cayenne S I had a 2000 Durango R/T (fully modded and customized) and that was nothin compared to the GCSRT8.
Back in 1995, 96 and 97 I had a Mustang Cobra with about 650hp (Vortech supercharged/intercooled) that was very quick and fast but harsh to drive as the power was too much for a daily driver (actually scared me to mash the pedal unless I was at Englishtown or Atco). I would drive there, air down my drag radials, put ice in the box, increase the timing with a dash mounted control knob and run low 11s at 128mph all day long (with my daily driven tires) and then air up the tires, retard the timing and drive home while everyone else was loading cars on their trailers. Then drive to work in it the next day.
robdawg1691 03-20-2008, 09:33 AM i had a 2000 jeep wrnagler sahara 5 speed. had an intake, exhaust, and various exterior accessories (white blinker lenses, custom bumpers, numerous tops and doors). it was great in the summer, no fun in the winter. i'll be in a GCSRT8 for as long as they make them!
08srt8Calgary 03-20-2008, 09:41 AM so how many of you regret going to th GCSRT8, lol :)
Sold my two vehicles (both buckets) to get into my 2008 gcsrt8. Haven't looked back, won't look back! To dust teens in dads cayenne...priceless.
Baker 03-20-2008, 11:06 AM As others have done, selling the durango (truck style) to make room for the SRT8 on order. Keeping the viper and stealth tt as summer toys though, as the jeep will be the daily driver.
Before I got my Inferno Red 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 I had a Midnight Blue 2004 4WD “Trail Rated” Jeep Grand Cherokee Freedom Edition 4.7 H.O.
Unfortunately, the Freedom Edition Jeep was totaled in February 2006 when my passengers and I were struck by an errant driver who slid into my lane while rounding a corner on a snow covered two-lane road in the San Jacinto Mountains near Idyllwild, California. After the impact, we were pushed off the road and went into a deep ravine. Luckily we stayed upright and stopped going down the ravine after about 40 feet - resting at a 45 degree right angle against a small tree – dangerously close to tipping over and rolling down to the rocks below. My passengers and I sustained only minor injuries, but the driver and passenger of the Suzuki that hit us were taken away from the crash scene in an ambulance. I later learned that their injuries were not life threatening.
It took awhile to get my insurance claim resolved (the 2004 Jeep was eventually deemed a total loss and I was dealing with an uninsured motorist), but once I got my insurance claim resolved, I was in the market for a new vehicle. I had been following the development of the ground breaking Grand Cherokee SRT8 with great interest while I still had my 2004 Freedom Edition Jeep, but didn’t think I’d be getting one anytime soon. The loss of my 2004 Freedom Edition Jeep provided an unexpected opportunity to seriously look at getting a new Grand Cherokee SRT8. Even so, I did briefly consider getting a new Grand Cherokee Overland, but in the end I succumbed to all of the hype and ordered a new 2006 Inferno Red Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. I have no regrets.
Still, I do miss the off-road capability that the 2004 “Trail Rated” Jeep provided and lately I have been looking at the new 4 door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon’s as a rugged “Trail Rated” companion for my brawny “Street Rated” Grand Cherokee SRT8. Then I’d have the best of both Jeep worlds.
