: Our first service offering - Powdercoated wheels!
werks 02-12-2008, 11:37 AM Hello all!
I would like to offer up our first service offering for the GC SRT-8, Powdercoating of wheels - any color!:)
Here is the breakdown -
Powdercoat 4 SRT8 wheels = $400.00 (no tax)
Dis-mount tires = $80.00 (no tax)
Re-mount and balance tires = $80.00 (no tax)
This service includes removal and re-installation of the wheels as well as storage of the vehicle at our shop at no extra charge and takes approximately 3 days to perform the entire service. In addition we will smooth out any curb rash there may be at no extra charge so the wheel look brand new when they are done! On top of that we will paint the bolts, TPMS valve stems and center caps as well for no extra charge.
Pick up and delivery of the vehicle is also available at an additional charge.
If you are out of state and you would like to send us your wheels for powdercoating that is fine too! Shipping back to you would be $100.00 for the set of 4.
Here are a couple pics of a customer's SRT-8 we recently completed -

promo718 02-12-2008, 11:55 AM hmm, you don't paint the bolts?
Razorecko 02-12-2008, 12:00 PM Do you guys powdercoat "hyperblack" ?
werks 02-12-2008, 12:33 PM Do you guys powdercoat "hyperblack" ?
With our coating options and colors we can get extremely close to any original color. You would be surprised, sometimes you can't even tell which part is paint and which part is powdercoat!
werks 02-12-2008, 12:34 PM hmm, you don't paint the bolts?
We will paint the bolts, TPMS valve stems and center caps as well for no extra charge. This customer opted to leave his lugs and TPMS valve stems chrome.

Those wheels do look great! I will have to check with the coater though as small lines like the red tend to bleed into one another. This design would probably be best performed by a custom painter.
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 02-13-2008, 09:36 AM could you do a core charge deal with these??? may work better for us outta state guys.

As my father once said - that is a definate possibility!
We will have to look into this as an option.

Will do, we're working on it!
Razorecko 02-13-2008, 11:46 AM Will do, we're working on it!
quick tip for you guys - i hope you can fill in the new "alcoa forged" imprint before powdercoating because if you do a core exchange program you might have 08 rims and someone might want no imprints on 'em.
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 02-13-2008, 11:50 AM Will do, we're working on it!
another thing to consider, i know you guys were saying 400 for the job plus the 100 for the shipping, but if some guys like myself can find a good powdercoater to go to locally then your prices may not look so appealing...though a good idea to do the core charge some may feel the 100 extra isnt worth it (even though they'd get them quicker) i dunno, just a thought

Thanks for the heads up on that. We will most likely offer 2 different options, filled and non-filled alcoa forged imprints.
m3_il 02-14-2008, 09:06 AM hey awesome you guys are local. is the car gonna be there this weekend so i can stop by and see? Ive been dying to do this.

That particular SRT8 will not be here on Sat. Feel free to stop by, we are open 9-3 on Saturdays.
So, the wheels would be powercoated body color (a gloss black)?
Could a red stripe be powdercoated on the edge like these wheels?

Okay, you may have to sit down for this one, we can do a core charge but it will be $4000.00! Sorry - We have to at least cover our cost o a set of factory new SRT-8 wheels.

My coater is working out a price for this combination right now.
What black looks best on the wheels? I think gloss is wrong, but flat black looks odd too.
A low gloss maybe?
Razorecko 02-14-2008, 06:37 PM What black looks best on the wheels? I think gloss is wrong, but flat black looks odd too.

semi-gloss.
Matt McKenzie 02-14-2008, 07:15 PM When I do mine I am going to have them color matched to my black....I think it will look good, all shiny and sh!t!
Razorecko 02-14-2008, 07:39 PM The only problem that happens is when you get high gloss black wheels you have to keep your tires constantly "tire-shined" otherwise if the tire looks dull and the rim is really shiny it looks weird to me.

$150.00 each to do this exact combination.

Wouldn't this be the case with any shiny rim, like chrome...or do you think it is worse because it is black on black? I have yet to see a color matched rim, I have only seen flat (hate it), and semi glossy, not bad.
eblade 02-18-2008, 01:53 AM would you guys do matte black?
mikec 02-18-2008, 06:36 AM We can do a matte black.
bankrman 02-21-2008, 02:05 PM Will do, we're working on it!

Yes.......
Goldengreek5 02-22-2008, 01:06 PM So altogether it would be 4400 for core charge and the powdercoat charge, and the 4000 would be refunded upon arrival of the customers stock rims??

Core charge on the rims.
Off topic bankrman who is that in your avatar??
SJG3RD 02-24-2008, 06:05 PM Depending on more details I would be in for a core exchange.
I am dying for a a set of semi-gloss black rims.
jeeptech 02-26-2008, 05:24 PM We're in the process of figuring out the core charge guys. We'll post up more information in the morning.

^ just find the cheapest set of straight & true GC wheels you can get that and use that price as the core charge.
SJG3RD 02-27-2008, 01:41 PM Me TOOOOO!!!
jeeptech 02-27-2008, 09:16 PM Ok here's the scoop...
Core charge is $4,000
Powdercoating is $400
Shipping will be $125
Shoot me a PM if you'd like to sign up for this....
bankrman 02-27-2008, 11:08 PM So I pay you $4525....I receive the beautiful wheels in how long? Then I swap them out locally....ship mine to you guys...and you'll refund $4000, correct?
SJG3RD 02-28-2008, 09:46 AM Also does the price include black lugs and black valve stems? If so and it works how bankrman says I am in!!!
Can you leave the SRT that is stamped in the wheel un coated?
jeeptech 02-28-2008, 08:20 PM So I pay you $4525....I receive the beautiful wheels in how long? Then I swap them out locally....ship mine to you guys...and you'll refund $4000, correct?
Yep that's about how it works
I'm posing some details in a few, so stay posted.
jeeptech 02-28-2008, 09:23 PM :rocker: Ok here's the breakdown on the Powdercoated Core Program :rocker:
Core charge $4,000
Coating is $400
Shipping is $125
Total = $4,525 (no sensors or lugs)
Turn around time on these wheels will be about 1-2 weeks including shipping time from us. When we receive your wheels (in good condition) you will be refunded the core charge.
If we receive a wheel that is badly damaged ie: Bad Curb Rash, Or Out Of Round due to damage, your core fee may not be returned in order to cover the cost of getting new wheels. Please make sure that we get wheels that are in great shape!
Special coatings may cost a bit more and take a longer time to process naturally. If you have any questions about coatings please feel free to PM and get a quote from us.
Lug nuts will not currently be offered. It's something that we're looking into though.
TPMS sensors will not be included. The reason for this is when you switch your tires over the old sensors must be located at the same tire orientation as before, otherwise you'll have tpms errors. This is why we're leaving it up to the cust to swap in the ones from there vehicle.
Again if you have any questions please feel free to PM us.
Thanks for your interest!
bankrman 02-29-2008, 11:16 AM Hmm...so now I need to see if I can find a fix for the lug nuts...and hope that color matches...and the timing is the same.
I understand the TPMS sensors....but the lug nuts not being provided makes this somewhat tough.
Razorecko 02-29-2008, 11:33 AM ^ McGard has black lug nuts available
jeeptech 02-29-2008, 12:24 PM we're looking into the lug nuts right now and mcguard is an option.
bankrman 02-29-2008, 02:07 PM Perfect, thanks!
jeeptech 03-03-2008, 05:37 PM We're still looking at the lugs. Should have a post by mid week for sure!
SJG3RD 03-03-2008, 06:53 PM Might try these guys.
http://www.rockratz.com/
looks like they would fit and match the semi-gloss coated wheels.

Yeah...I would just rather that they are stock and match perfectly...if its an option.
SJG3RD 03-04-2008, 06:24 PM Always a pain the A$$ bankrman!!
Your right though, I would much rather they where a match otherwise it might look funny!
SJG3RD 03-26-2008, 02:01 PM Did you ever find any options for lugs?
Still looking at getting this done. Any more info.
DABEARS1 03-29-2008, 12:09 PM Any update on the exchange program???
bankrman 04-04-2008, 01:53 PM Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?
werks 04-04-2008, 04:32 PM Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?

Jred22 04-05-2008, 02:51 AM Lame! .
Jred22 04-05-2008, 02:54 AM ^^^^fin ta bring the noise.
ResumeSpeed 04-05-2008, 04:17 AM :rocker: [B]TPMS sensors will not be included. The sensors do not have to go back on the same wheel location they came from. There are trigger modules in the wheelwells that determine the location of the sensor that is in the wheel. There is only one part number for the sensors, which fit to any wheel and are then read by the sytem.

We can do a set of McGuard spline drive lug nuts wth lock tool for $125.00.

$4000.00 - core charge
$400.00 - powdercoat wheels

Yes we will send pre-paid labels out with the black wheels. We do not have our core set here right now. They are in CA I believe. It will be about a week before we could ship you out a set in black. I am sending you a PM right now.
DABEARS1 04-19-2008, 04:05 PM Are these ready to go? Is there a list??
SJG3RD 04-21-2008, 01:51 PM I think the first person to pay the $4600 and wait about 2 weeks will get some wheels. I am going to do this soon, but I have a baby that will be here within 2 weeks and I still can't decide what finish to go with.
DaBears go ahead and kick it off. You be the first.

Curious to see how these turned out.
DABEARS1 05-30-2008, 06:39 PM Sorry, been out of town, so couldn't update. I got the rims and they are sweet. They came in mint condition, powdercoat was perfect. Great job Performance Autowerks. I got semi-gloss black with the black lug nuts.
I really needed the exchange program and appreciate it. My rims are on the way back, so put your order in....
So everything was going great, then my tire guy was supposed to have my toyo's 275/315's last week. Well he didn't get them, so this week I get the rims and he only got the 315's and said the 275's are now on back order. So ok no problem, put on the 315's and I'll leave stock tires upfront till the 275's come in. I don't like that they have to remove the front tires, cause I don't want any scratches on the powdercoat, but oh well. So then the guy ***s up both my tpms while removing them from my rear stock rims. I called the dealer, they didn't have any. So now when the new tpms come in, they have to remove both my rear tires to install them. If they scratch them ughhhhh.... Here's a quick pic, the black center caps are on the way and once I'm done with my tires and get my eibachs on I'll put on the black lugs.
jeeptech 06-04-2008, 12:34 AM Glad your happy with them. Goodluck with all the mounting and dismounting issues. We'll keep our fingers crossed for you :)
