Hey Everyone,
When I was at the dealership, they said that the SRT8 (and all other Jeeps) require oil changes every 3,000 miles. I am now at 2,000 miles and noticed that the "Perform Service" message comes on. When I reset it, it only added another 2,000 miles.
Should you do your first service at 2K or 3K?
Thanks for the help.

When you purchased your car, the service interval which is manually set, must have been set for 2K miles. That's the only reason why that indicator would have come on. The suggested oil change frequency is 3K. There are certain conditions outlined in the owners manual that allow for a longer interval in between changes. Once you decide what interval you want to follow, just program that into the service interval part of the menu. With synthetic oil, my personal rule of thumb is never before 3K but never after 4K. Others may not agree.

Your owners manual states that oil is to be changed at 3000 for severe service and 5000 for "normal" driving. Don't think a whole lot of these see "normal" driving.....:)

Both my service tech & service manager told me every 5-6k miles... and I can bring my own Mobile 1 0W-40 and filter (which saves me about 50%).
There's absolutely no reason why you should have to change full synthetic oil every 3k miles... that's just ridiculous.
My CTS-V recommends the Mobile 1 Synthetic be changed every 8-10k I believe...
You're just wasting your money and time if you change it very 3k. I would take the above advice and change every 5-6k.
The Jeep srt8 maintenance logbook states that the oil should be changed every 6,000 miles or 6 months. If you guys don't have the SRT8 Owners manual you should get one. https://techauthority.gltghosting.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ItemDisplay?catalogId=10051&storeId=10051&itemId=24402&langId=-1&searchtype=keyword&skuSearchField=4&skuSearchParam=srt8&qty=0

Roger that! 5K-6K between oil changes for my rig.
