Folks -

After talking with the owners at the Sunoco station located in North East, MD....just minutes from Cecil Dragway, they are getting a un-scheduled early delivery of Sunoco race gas in this week.

Cecil County Dragway opens on the 22nd of this month. So everyone will have some great juice to run. Not sure if the price is going to go up, but as it stands now, it runs $6.99/gal for (posted) 98 octane. Although I've heard it's actually 100 octane - the station just can't advertise it....for some reason.

$5/gal is a good price. Yep, I plan to run the Jeep.

Won't this 100 octane race gas cause damage to your cats?

Well, I've used it in my 06 GTO with both stock cats and aftermarket highflow cats (from Kooks) and in the Jeep. No issues to report......damn cars love this stuff....like crack for cars! Running this will ensure you don't pull any timing. Also, you are not going to run straight race gas - most likely you already have some 91/93 octane in the tank, so you can mix, say 50-50...and still come out to 95-96 octane....which is perfect.

** UPDATE **

Just talked with one of the owners this afternoon. Still no delivery. At this point, we have a 50-50 shot of getting it by Friday. The issue is...
1.) this is a non-scheduled delivery
2.) it's a low volume delivery (500 gal)
3.) shipment comes in directly from Newark, NJ's refinement center
4.) limited number of stations that are licensed to sell race gas - making deliveries to just one or two stations not worth it. Sunoco waits until all stations are ready to take delivery and basically one truck does a single regional area run.

The guys at the station are well aware we're waiting for the delivery. I'll continue to keep everyone posted, as I check the station almost daily. I learned a lot about gasoline deliveries these past two weeks. ;)

Hey mark what do you think about this idea...Say we locate a 55 gallon drum somewhere and drive to another local sunoco station and fill the drum up
then this way we could have race fuel on tap??All we would need is some kind of siphoning device to use to fuel up our rig's or fuel can's..???? unless vp-race gas would deliver a drum to your house??

Thanks Steve - ....good suggestion, but personally, I do not store gas, >10 gals, at my house for a number of reasons. Safety for my girls first. Additionally, I'm not sure where the next closest Sunoco - or any gas station for that matter, sells (and has in stock), race gas (although I'd be very interested in finding out). And then there's always the question of do you trust what you're getting (ie. buying from a non-known source)?
I like the suggestion earlier, about a group buy or if Gregg and Mike would be interested in purchasing a drum of VP gas - we could then buy off them in 5 or 10 gallon incriments. But that probably still does not help us for Friday.

Yeah i didn't mean store it in your garage sorry i shouldv'e clarified that, mike was saying something to me about a another sunoco station locally to us that carries race fuel i will have to look into that further but i did talk to mike about buying some vp race fuel but he said something along the lines of "hazmat"..personally i'm just going to go to the local sunoco by us and buy 10 gallon's of race fuel "if the have some" and bring it with me on friday to the track..

Just got some race gas this evening. Sorry, appears they did in fact, raise the price....now to $7.25/gal. Ouch, $.25 cents a gallon increase over last year (season).

WoW 7.25 a gallon...and it's still winter wonder what the prices are going to be this up comming summer

The price should remain the same for this entire load. They don't change prices until their next delivery, if at all. This load, from what they indicated to me, was 500 gallons.

How long does that shipment of gas last at that station?

FDNY-L107

Usually through the race season. They usually get two loads, one in early spring and one in early fall. Just really depends on how it sells.
