My first oil change light came on yesterday at 2499. Are you guys just taking yours to the dealership or just the local oil place? What are you guys using?

Dealership....because I got a coupon when I bought my truck for the first servicing on the house. In fact, I got another coupon in the mail for my second servicing from the dealership that made it super cheap as well.

I just go to the local oil place. I am in and out in 10 minutes and I can stand there and watch what they are doing. I am sticking with the Mobil 1 and I am using the Mobil 1 filters as well.

If you are out and in in 10 minutes, then they are not letting it drain nearly long enough. Change it yourself, save $50, and let it drain for at least an hour. :)

I go to the dealership and I actually use their 5,000 mile services, because it is like extra insurance if something goes wrong with the Jeep!!!

Go to the dealership if you want the wrong amount of oil put in and you like to pay more than you have to. :p

Money doesn't really bother me, and they do full services for me. If anything goes wrong with my Jeep that are covered with those services, it is like extra insurance for me!:)

Define "full services"?

In my experience it generally means "a bunch of extra cash to the dealer that you can do yourself in 5 minutes".

They do a 50 point check (not a big deal), tranny and other stuff. I don't know off the top of my head all that they do...too lazy to walk up stairs and check out the paperwork I have on it...but it is something that I have been doing forever with my VW and I do it now with the Jeep. It makes me feel a little more comfortable to be honest with you to have all of this done by the dealership...because anything that goes wrong is covefed by them! Like I said earlier, I really don't mind paying a little extra cash, to feel a little better, because I am not a wrench turner by any means.

you got charged retail (of course, right?). they hit for .25-.5hr labor and about $10.00/qt for oil. auto zone carries it for about $6/qt. if you use the dealership, buy the oil first, then go. they'll sqwauk a little but they'll put it for ya. especially if its what they use already. lots of advisors, if they're cool, will tell you the same. filter difference is so small doesnt matter.
my 2 cents

Most dealerships have techs that don't give a damn and are probably making $70.00 an hour. :p

I'd say your getting charged the equivalent of $70/hr, but the poor techs aren't making it, the stealership is sticking most of that in their pocket. You seen some of those techs...if they got paid $70/hr they'd be rollin' a whole lot deeper than they are (at least in my neighbor hood they ain't)

Just did my first oil change today at 3K. I was absolutely amazed that DCX has put a "pee trough" below the oil filter... no more taking an oil bath like on the older models! not even a drop in the floor! Also picked up my new rotors from the dealer, so I can have them zinc-washed (may have them slotted also) before installing them and the EBC Reds
