I have a V1, and I am confused...what do you mean?

It depends on the bands used in your area. For example, if they only use Ka radar guns, you should disable K and X band, so that you minimize false alerts.

Don't forget to re-enable those bands if you travel into other counties/states.

I use my V1 in "A" mode unless i am in a big city then i switch it to the "l" small l mode. I have POP turned off because the cops cant write you a ticket off of a pop reading. Plus that pop reading will be registered as a k band or ka band alert anyway. Everything else I have on. I have only seen 2 cops in the last year that are running X band in my area. otherwise I wouldhave turned that off cuz X band is annoying as hell.

I believe he is refering to the custom programmable options. If you turn the unit off, hold down the knob and turn it on it will enter programming mode....but you need the specs from V1 website or you will have no idea what you are doing. I had to disable the laser because on my previous ride I had laser cruise control which would always give false alerts

Idealrides,

I was in St. Maarten recently and saw a black modded srt8! Was that you? Are there others around the island that have black GCSRT8 ? I believe it was on the dutch side I saw it...

Maybe I should look into this since I am using one. Just an off topic side note...Idealrides, I just realized it was your GCSRT8 that I kept pictures of while I was overseas after I ordered mine...I wasn't part of this forum yet, and can't remember were I found the pics....but when I was thinking about the Jeep that I was going to get, I was looking at yours brother...THANKS!!!

I just leave mine in L and thats it... Works fine but needs a jammer to go along with it. Don't know of any detector that will protect you from laser yet.

I run in L as well. Since laser radar systems work just like Instant-On radar (K and Ka) its almost too late if the V1 is picking up laser. However it has saved me countless times when state troopers are shooting laser off of overpasses down onto the highway.

The Escort ZR3 is the only jammer I know of, which I have heard mixed results on. But I read in another thread that apparently the ZR4 is an updated model that should be out soon.
