Hi guys, ok, I already have a HID Kit that I purchased that is turning out to be a HUGE hassel. It was cheap $200.00, and now I am wondering if I should of just bought one that was more complete. At the time I did not know that this was going to need a Wiring Harness with a Relay. I have heard some of you guys that have hooked up your kits without all this fuss. If you are out there, can you please PM me and tell me where and who you bought your kit from. I am looking for one that just plugs into the stock headlight assembly. I believe some of you guys said you did not need a Relay. Just checking before I lose my mind with this stupid mod. I am ready to buy a whole new kit that works right. I've got the Phillips/Denso Kit, which I thought woulsd be the best quality and work without a hitch, but I was wrong. I mean install was simple of the kit and the kit works flawlessly. It just drains my battery until I install a relay. D0ah! Please help me out with some links SRT8 Brothers... Danke Mucho!

Hey for your HID's to work correctly you will need to install relays at each ballast. I have described how to do this from scratch on other threads of the SRT8 forum.

The kits that include relays appear to be quite overpriced, my reccomendation would be to keep the kit you have, and install you stock bulbs for now. Then order a kit like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/9005-9006-WIRING-HARNESS-RELAYS-HID-UNIVERSAL-FITS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42613QQihZ012QQite mZ220029003460QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

This way all you will have to do is hook up wires to ground (inside the driver's side fender are two star grounding points you can hook to) and battery (two easy spots for this under the fuse panel where the main cable from the battery comes in).

Unhooking the HID system, will prevent your battery from dying (i still don't completely understand this problem, but you are not the only one having it) and will save your ballasts from dying a premature death before you install the relays.

Also like I mention in my other posts, you can't use the AUTO setting anymore, you have to turn the HID's on and off each time.

Let me know if you need any more help,

Mike

Once again Mike thanks for the great info.

Did you not buy a "plug and play" kit?

I did, but it did not come with instructions or a wiring harness with a relay.
So I hooked everything up easily and everything worked great, but the HID's were draining my battery, because they weren't shutting off even tho they were switched off in the cab. Problems been fixxed tho and I love my setup. Wouldn't drive at night without it. I have bad night vision.

Xenondepot sells the kit. Hassle free.
Vendor on site.
I have the 6500k for low and fogs from them.

Whatever you do don't buy cheap ebay kits.... They will throw your tpms off because they have no RF shielding! I've fought with this one seller for days they asked me to send them back to get new ones which wouldn't help...they even sent me these capacitors instead of relays, which blew up in my hand....just tossed them in the trash..
I bought a fullset HLFs from Xenondepot....absolutely great customer service!
