: It was King while it Lasted
radduc 09-18-2006, 08:18 PM Hold on to hat's for this one boy's.I don't beleive the Jeep is going to be king for long.Mid 2007 Audi is releasing it's Q7 with a 6.0 liter twin-turbocharged V12 Diesel putting out 500hp along with 738lb-ft of torque. 0 to 62 is 5.5 seconds with a set of Ceramic brake discs to bring her to a stop.I gotta give it to the Germans, they know how to build a monster.I know the Jeep stock is faster out of the box,but we all know how easy it is to tune a twin-turbo diesel. For god sake they got Ford pick-up's running in the low 12 with just a tune.I seriously think this is going to be my new ride when next winter rolls around.
It hasnt been confirmed for the US and my bet is that it crests or nears 6 figures if it does come over. I don't think the Toureg V10 TDI sold well at all and I do know that an aftermarket never popped up for it.
Audi does the best interiors in the business though.
radduc 09-18-2006, 08:38 PM I had the Toureg it was a good truck but I think the Audi is a different animal. We will see.Obviously the Jeep is the best bang for the buck hands down.
PorscheSRT8 09-18-2006, 09:48 PM It's not slated to come to the U.S. It will only be available in Europe.
BahnBlastR 09-18-2006, 10:28 PM Sorry Guys, fast or not, I see these things every day over here and they are FUGLY. It looks kinda neat when you first see it from the front, but quickly looses its appeal when you see the entire vehicle. To each his/her own though. The Jeep just has Bad-Ass written all over it. Correct statement about Audi's interiors though.

How can a vehicle that is NOT "faster out of the box" than the Jeep take away the crown??? It can't, your post is misleading.
viol8r 09-19-2006, 02:03 AM That thing will be running 11's with a tune and slicks front and back, it will make it here by 08 no doubt.
I have one of those trucks you mention but they dont run 12's with just a tune, takes a little more.
Mid to high 13's are possible with programming, intake, and straight pipe

I agree. This has to be one of the ugliest front-ends ever put on a vehicle, some of the Cayenne designers must have worked on this one.

whipple1 09-19-2006, 03:25 AM It looks like a Fredrick airconditioner sticking out of the front of the car,Fugly is right!
rettags 09-19-2006, 08:50 AM The SRT 8 is obviously more for the money. In the same Autoweek, they listed the GC SRT 8 running 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. So if the first post is true, the SRT will still be quicker than the Q7 in this respect. Besides, Porsche already has a faster Cayenne built which is basically the same, power wise, as the Q7. Is an extra 80bhp really worth over $100k?
radduc 09-19-2006, 08:54 AM Guy's I am on your side!!! I was just really impressed with the power plant Audi came up with. And the power that they are getting out of Turbo Diesel's today,(let alone twin-turbo) Is just INSAINE!!I love my Jeep and you can NOT beat it for the money. You can't even beat it if you spend 120 grand on the porsche S model.
Untouchable 09-19-2006, 09:16 AM well, take some of those bucks in the price difference and throw a turbo on the Jeep a la you know who. Who's king now.
"If you aint first you're last"
red_rides 09-19-2006, 09:27 AM High HP/torque diesels are great, but I don't think they're well-suited for any vehicle that's trying to be "sporty". By sporty- I mean capable on a road course. I know Audi won LeMans with a diesel powered prototype, but that's an engineering exercise.
If you want a SUV for towing - get a diesel. If you want an SUV that's high on the fun-to-drive quotient, get a SRT8!
radduc 09-19-2006, 09:29 AM I am sure that Banks fould have something to say about that LOL

Your right bro. I saw on Trucks where they put one of those BullyDog systems on a Cummins Diesel RaM I believe, and Upgraded the Turbo, put on Propane Injection and to top it off N20. This monster made like 800WHP and over 1000LB/FT. TQ. And stock it was around 300WHP. It's amazing what their doing with these Turbos. And it didn't cost them nearly as much as it costs for just a blower kit for us... :)... But also I don't want to be driving around a big Dodge Ram... even tho I have a IndyRam, but it's not as horsey... Something like that, you get the point!
MegaSRT-8 09-19-2006, 10:26 AM Besides, that Audi is a crossover - like the Subaru or Caddy - not a full size SUV. I gues it can be considered an small SUV, but still they are built on a car chasis - not a truck one.
BahnBlastR 09-20-2006, 08:59 AM I had one try to hang with me on the bahn a week ago (not the twin-turbo diesel obviously), and he did pretty well till we passed 140 MPH and he never recovered. He didn't just disappear like many cars do, :D but he couldn't hang. The thing is HUGE looking too! It just gives the appearance of being a BIG rig.
h1m0n 09-20-2006, 09:39 AM He's just haiting or should i say hes drinking the "hatorade" go to henessy performance and check out the jeep lets talk now. q7 is ugly and the seats are 90% uncomfortable they make your legs fall asleep after about 30 minute drive.
radduc 09-20-2006, 09:50 AM I don't think anyone in there right mind would go to see John Henessy, unless they wanted to be played

If I could get a two or three month turn-around on the turbo package (and had $20,000 to spend), I'd do it in a heartbeat. That TT prototype is just crazy fast!!
But if it takea a year to get it done (or never - I know) + the $20k, then probably not worth it.
