Not sure if this was covered, and I did search.. I was wondering if down shifting too much could cause any problems with our transmissions? I have already had a new one put in at about 6,000

I would assume it would be like any other car. WHy would you down shift and shoot the RPMs through the roof anyhow?

But if it is going to hurt the motor it might adjust gears automatically regardless if you are in the manual mode.

You should definitely test this out for sure and let us all know what happens :bandit:

i think this car downshifts enough as it is. and you have some big ass brakes by the way, so downshifting to save on speed doesnt seem very wise.

well it does save the brake dust on the rims and its pretty fun.. I dont want to hurt the beast though..

I think the autostick on GCSRT8 is terrible. I think it should be up and back, not side to side...and I think it should be alot easier to turn on and off...and dont use it that much because I dont like it!

Every car has a weird auto shift.. X5 is back for down shift and porsche CT is forward for down shift

Thats probably why I don't like it, my last autostick is up and back!

I wouldn't recommend it too much either, it can't be good on the trans. In the snow for example to brake the engine is one thing but everyday just to save on brake dust seems silly.

I myself wouldn't worry about downshifting, the built in program logic won't allow abuse above and beyond what the shifting stratagy is programmed for.
Remember Chrysler already thought about most of this stuff before us and they wouldn't allow abuse above what is necessary to prevent warantee work.

2nd that, it won't down shift if its out side of safe parameters

there's nothing better than coming in hot to a corner, braking/downshifting and getting on it on the other side (I love expressway exits :D )
